What is the differenc between FF7 & FF7 "Ultima edition"

I don't know if this has been asked before and have not found any topics on it so I'm wondering it ones better then the other or not, the reason I'm asking is because I recently got a working PC version which is just normal FF7 of trade me (A new zealand website) but noticed the FF7 "Ultima edition" for sale on another site.

Is it a legit Square/SquareEnix release and is it better or worse ?.

As you can read in one of the stickies: the FF7 Ultima Edition is an illegal copy of the game, often found on download and torrent sites, and it's for this reason it is not supported on these forums. If it's for sale, then it really sucks for anyone that buys it.

Okay thanks for that, and I apologise for not seeing that bit about the "Ultima edition".

I'm assuming the copy for sale online is just burnt onto a disk

Alright, what about the differences between the original tapered box, the platinum  and the EA Classics release? Are there any major issues that would give more reason to buy/avoid one over the other?

Probably just when they were released and the prices.  Square didn't make any changes (that I know of) after they fixed the grammar in the original PC port.

Also, I admire the work you're doing with Castlevania, have you done anything FF7 related?

I remember that there was a problem with EA Classics version and a standard 1.02 patch. Well, if you call it a problem The Eidos logo at the begging of the game didn't show up. Don't remember if they cut it out, or changed the file name to something else, or if they also changed the FMV so it wouldn't say Eidos.
