FF8 save game problem

Hi,

long time reader, 1st time poster here.

I have been happily playing the PC version of FF8.  I have used the Griever editor on occasion to add some items & magic, everything was fine until it came to the point where Edea gives you the Sorceress Letter and you have to find the White Seed ship.

I found the ship no problem only for some reason when i ran into it it wouldn't allow me to board it.  After days of searching around i decided to upgrade to version 1.2 & downloaded a new eax.dll file which finally solved the problem.  I saved the game and continued through the game into disk 3 and have just done the whole saving rinoa in space section.  I saved the game on several occasions and closed and re-opened over several days each day completing it bit by bit.

Only today i have gone to start playing again and my save file has reverted back to the point where i saved just after Edea gave me the sorceress letter.

I have looked around and can't find any similar problems from other users.  So i was simply wondering if anyone had any idea ....

a) why this may have happened?
b) can i resolve it?
C) if not, can i download a save game from somewhere that hasn't been completely distorted with every poition, magic & item known to man?

in all honesty, griever has caused me a problem as well, i upgraded my levels on my characters and then suddenly i can't access my save anymore, so maybe griever is the problem?

MisterB, you're in luck.  I'm at the point where Rinoa's unconscious just after finishing the Galbadia battle, and I know that this save file will get you at least up to Time Compression at the end of Disc 3 (that's where I left off last time I played this game).

I had trouble triggering the Galbadia Garden battle and had to reload to this ancient save which was at roughly the same point.

It's a "normal" save, with no obscene levels or item amounts, with the following exceptions:

* I have a few Apocalypse and Percent magic just to see what they'd do

* I have 5 Rosetta Stones -- couldn't be bothered to have to play that guy in the prison over and over

* I have 60 Fuels -- I wanted to be able to tool around in a car to my heart's content

My SeeD level is 30 and I've played through everything the "good" way -- initial SeeD level of 8 or 9; got Brothers without failing, did the train mission without an error.

If you're still stuck and don't mind using another person's file, I'll send you mine.
