7th Heaven Canary Bug Reports/Suggestion Thread

Right now 7th Heaven is being updated frequently, and bugs can pop up here and there.
We're working on pushing forward to a stable release!
For that to happen we need to get rid of as many bugs in the canary version that we can find!
Also if you have any ideas that would improve the quality of life for 7th Heaven, we'd love to hear those too!

As time goes on, this page will be updated with current known issues, and solutions that might need another kind of
fix outside of a 7th Heaven issue.

FAQs and Tutorials / [FF7]Big List of Bugs [Outdated]

    Big List of Bugs

This list is going to be updated when new bugs and solutions are found.
It is currently mostly for Final Fantasy VII so far. It might be branched out to other games eventually, but for now we'll stick with just 7.
If you know of any existing bugs that aren't listed here, please post them below along with a solution should you know it.
If someone else knows a solution, quote the issue you are responding to when you post it.

Any mod makers that wish to contribute to this, please contact me or post down below. I'll be adding bugs for more specific mods as they pop up

    Game Converter

    • Stuck on Patching
Use FF7 Remove Registry Keys: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14421.0
    • Cannot find the game
When typing the game location inside the converter, find your FF7.exe, right click and choose properties.
Copy the location it shows and paste it inside the converter. Make sure you have a " on BOTH sides.
             Example - ("C:/Games/Final Fantasy VII")

    7th Heaven
The current version of 7th Heaven is 1.56

    • Please check the F.A.Q. for any issue not stated here
             http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=16538.0
    • Game closes once I hear the starting beep
This could be due to sound. If you ever change your sound device, ie from Speakers to headset.
You will need to run the converter again, when the FF7 options window pops up, click the sound tab and Test.
If the sound comes through the device you wish to use then you're good.
    • When I run the game with mods on, it looks like Vanilla
Open your settings inside 7th Heaven and manually use the browse function to set the 4 locations.
Occasionally the auto settings may mess these up.
    • Text looks all squashed
This could be 1 of 2 things. First of all you could be using the wrong exe (If you are using “Because” or “Menu Overhaul”)
If you have this mod active then you must be using the “ff7_bc.exe” in your 7th Heaven settings.
Second your modpath may be wrong. Go to your FF7 root folder, look for a file named “ff7opengl.cfg” right click and open with notepad.
Look for a line close to the top that says “Modpath =” and be sure it says “Modpath = Textures”.
    • Crash when downloading a mod
This is usually just a 1st time crash thing. Restart 7th Heaven and try again.
Type %appdata% into your search bar and hit enter, then delete the 7th Heaven folder if present.
If all else fails, delete your 7th Heaven installation, and reinstall.
    • No mods in the Catalog tab
When inside your 7th Heaven settings you will see a box named “Subscriptions”.
Paste these links into that box. 1 on each line, not together
             Default Subscription: iros://Url/http$pastebin.com/raw.php?i=dDBkYkDu
Mods of the Round Subscription: iros://Url/http$pastebin.com/raw.php?i=QBGsgGK6
Now restart 7th Heaven and open your Catalogue tab, click Search and it should now be filled with mods.
    • Error when launching game
Right click your 7th Heaven.exe and select properties, compatibility tab and set it to run as admin.
Go to the same tab but for FF7.exe and tick the box that say "Run in 640x480"(Do the same for all other exe's).
This will not actually affect your gameplay as 7th Heaven takes over it anyway.
             https://imgur.com/yI30qaq
             https://imgur.com/qkW7VfI
    • Can only see part of the game
This is due to DPI scaling. Find the exe you are using eg - ff7.exe, ff7_bc.exe.
Right click this and go to the “Compatibility” tab.
Click on “Change High DPI Settings” and tick “Override high DPI scaling behaviour”, then in the dropdown choose “Application”.
    • Long loading times/crashes mid game
This can be a few things: amount of mods, size of mods, complexity of mods, but the most likely is in some of the
1.56 version of 7th Heaven there’s a bug that duplicates the contents of the Extra Folders section of the
General Settings. Deleting the duplicates will help with this issue.
    • Can't update to 1.57
There is no 1.57 update yet. If it keeps showing, in General Settings, uncheck “Check for 7th Heaven Updates Automatically” to make it stop.
Keep an eye on the thread to keep up with updates. http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=17620.0
    • Post Processing initialization failed, check APP.LOG for more information error
If you're running the game on Intel HD Graphics, it doesn't support the Post processing effect that comes with the shader.
You either need to assign the game to a dedicated GPU (if you have one) or go into Workshop -> OpenGL -> Graphics and
uncheck the box for Post processing.

    New Threat

    • Most Issues
Make sure you are on the latest version, you can check here: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14938.0

    • Cloud face texture issue
This is caused by a loose file in the Mini-Games Collection IRO in the 7th Heaven default catalog. Disable the mod to fix.

    Remako
    • Most Issues
Make sure you've followed the instructions in this installation guide: https://captrobau.blogspot.com/p/install-guide-ff7-mod-manager.html
If you are still having problems, check this FAQ, https://captrobau.blogspot.com/p/faq.html then try the 7th Heaven solutions at the top of this post

      Latest Update: April 1, 2020

      Mods of the Round

Always remember to hit Auto-Sort unless otherwise specified!

I don't care, where's the catalog? Wow rude, you get this color because of your rudeness :( : iros://Subscribe/Url/http$pastebin.com/raw.php?i=QBGsgGK6

What is it, and what do I do?

As stated above, this is a supplemental catalog to 7th Heaven's 3.0 Catalog. This has a few mods that are not part of the Qhimm Catalog due to request, but wanted to keep it in this catalog. A few of the mods contained here also contain beta updates. They will be marked to let you know.

      What mods are included?

Currently there aren't a lot. I haven't done all of them, but since this is only supposed to go alongside the existing catalog it shouldn't need all of them. I've only put mods in from creators that have given me permission. More will be added once I get permission to add them to the list.

      • cmh175's Avatars and HQ FMV Pack
      • Tsunamods Team - Avalanche Arisen 1k Battle Scenes by Uprisen
      • Tsunamods Team - ED Music FF7 Soundtrack Beta by Enrico Deiana and unab0mb
      • Tsunamods Team - Arranged Soundtrack by Tsunamix and Dracula9AntiChapel
      • The Barret Mod
      • Enhanced Stock UI Beta Test Version
      • ESUI Controller Addon
      • Remake ESUI Theme
      • Speedhack by Satsuki Yatoshi
      • Borderless Windowed FF7
      • Bonez' SFX Mod
      • Bonez' Modern Spell Names
      • [4x Upscale] - Project Edge Fields

I get an error when downloading!

Don't worry! Normally nothing is broken. 90% of the time it's because the mods that are uploaded to either MEGA or Google Drive so they have a limited number of downloads from one source. That one source in this instance is 7th heaven. Once that Quota is reached, it won't allow anymore downloads for the day from that source. If you wait a day or two it will reset and you can download it again. Be patient though, there are many people using this catalog, so it might fill up again!

      To the Mod Artists

If you have an IRO for your mod that is not on the Qhiumm catalog or a new one that you would like to add to my catalog please DM me either here or on Discord.

      Congratulations!

You made it to the end and deserve your reward. You get this cool color and the catalog link to paste into your subscriptions! Just remember, LOAD ORDER MATTERS iros://Url/http$pastebin.com/raw.php?i=QBGsgGK6

      Unofficial Qhimm Discord

      Why make a Discord?
I wanted to make a Discord for Qhimm for multiple reasons, but I can think of two main reasons. One is because I feel it would
be a little easier for Mod Developers to bounce ideas off of each other, and to help fix bugs if one person doesn't understand
what's going on. My 2nd reason is mainly for fans of the website to just chat with each other. Talk about what mods are their favorite
and what their favorite parts are. Just all around general chat as well. Maybe get together for fun games, or competitions to see who
can get through gjoerulv's Hardcore mod the fastest. I'm not a mod developer myself, and I haven't acquired the skills to do so yet,
and I want to contribute more to Qhimm. This is the best idea I could come up with.

Are you trying to replace the forums?
Absolutely not. The Qhimm forums are super useful, and a starting place for many great things. This Discord is meant to work in
conjunction with the forums with commands that link directly to threads on the forums. While information gets through quickly on
Discord, the forums are a great place to keep information that is meant to last, making it easier to find said information quickly.

What other things are you able to do on the Discord?
I've added a few entertainment features to the Discord, with thoughts on making many more once more people join. Currently
there is a Jukebox section where you can listen to, and share any musics that you like. There's a share and tell section where
you can share your silly bugs, or your greatest exploits, or just something you find silly. There's also potential to have a DND
group if enough people show interest (and someone wants to DM cause I am infinitely more skilled at making character than
entire scenarios for people to play through).

Is there anything I can contribute to help out?
As of typing this out there's a few things needed. There aren't many people at the moment, so I can moderate on my own, but eventually I will
need to start looking for moderators if the Discord gets big enough. If you have the right qualifications (or are already a
moderator on the forums) then you could be a moderator for the Discord as well! If you've got some ideas for emotes that you'd
like to see, then send them my way, and I'll add them (if they are appropriate.) Any suggestions that you think could be used to
improve everyone's experience would be a welcome addition.

I've got a mod that I'm making, and I'd like a text channel for it.
Fantastic! When you join the discord you can @me or private message me telling me you are a mod maker, and link me to your page on the
forums. I will add the Mod Developer tag to you, add a text channel in the game category your mod is for, and make a custom command that
can be typed in to link directly to the homepage, and the last page of your mod! You will have essentially Admin privileges on your text
channel to moderate it as you see fit.

Well this sounds fantastic! Where do I sign up?
Just click this link and you are on your way! https://discord.gg/kAKZzbV

7th Heaven / Error Crash At Start
      « on: 2017-05-15 03:01:16 »
Started up the game through 7th Heaven and it gives me an error at black screen before anything starts, and then crashes after hitting ok. Worked fine before, but maybe the Windows Update broke something? It's the only thing I can think of that's different from yesterday.

Posted about this in the NT forum without knowing it was a 7H bug apparently. But Barret's Model in NT is a bit broken. He is missing his face, and most of his gun.
      Spoiler: show
      (Hahaa figured it out)
Have tested it with just the Gameplay - Difficulty and Story mod by itself. Using the NT IRO does not cause the bug to occur.

Edit: And also a couple other features apparently. Looking at the NT IRO version gives Barret a lot more detail that I didn't know about.

Also after updating the mods, the game crashes at the beginning. I have put them in the order that http://i.imgur.com/oUw3vWK.png tells me, (except for New Threat which is above all the Field Models)

Ok guys and gals I need some help. In my 2d art design class I need to do an abstract piece about something that is meaningful to me. So I chose FF7. But I'm drawing a blank on what to do. Abstract is not my best form of art so I'm kinda stuck in a rut lol. Any help from any artists out there would help a lot

General Discussion / Cloud Strife Then, and Now
      « on: 2012-07-21 21:25:10 »
In the beginning of Final Fantasy VII, Cloud was an all out mercenary. He didn't care about the meaning behind the job, or peoples feelings towards it. As long as he was getting paid for it, everything was copacetic. Then he met Tifa again, and you find out about a little of his past, and a the possibility of a love interest with Tifa, and upon Tifa's urging's he agrees to continue on with Avalanche to the next reactor. As the story continues on, we can relate to Cloud and see that he's just like any normal person. He's never too sad. When things go down he gets serious and shows that he is ready for what's to come. He can be funny and helpful. He was like that all the way to the end of the game.

What happened since then? Why is it that when people who haven't played FFVII believe him to be a whiny emo kid? That feeling has visibly transferred to the more recent games and even into Advent Children. In Dissidia he is shown as a extremely depressed man who really has no will to fight there. In the Kingdom Hearts series, he's "given into the darkness in his heart." Even in the original game, even after Aerith dies, he has a sense of humor and goes on with his life and doesn't really take everything onto himself. I have friends who joke around with me when FFVII is brought up, and they relate the song Crawling (in my Skin) to Cloud. That's not how Cloud was depicted at all in FFVII. Cloud was a guy the entire group and even the player looked up to. When he did hit that depressed spot, you were rooting him on to pick himself out of it, and he did.

I personally do not like what SquareEnix has done with Cloud. Don't get me wrong, I played the later games and enjoyed Advent Children, but really, the only character in FFVII that can be considered emo is Vincent, but who would honestly say that to his face?
