« on: 2012-11-09 20:55:28 »
Cloud: NOOOOOOOOOO!! Stairs! my eternal enemy!

Barret: I ain't carryin' your spiky ass up those 60 flights of stairs!

Tifa: You can always... drag your chair up, or kinda... hop...

Cloud: ...How in the hell am I going to hop up around 6000 stairs!?

also, I rewrote othe bits of the game, such as when Tifa is ahnging onto cloud's arm after th air buster fight, speaking of which, Cloud's wheelchair would weigh 42 pounds. :P

edit:
I got this to work by quite simply...

I glued the wheelchair to cloud's waist, then I cut off cloud's legs and feet, glued them to his waist.

Presto, 100% working cloud, I was looking at most of his animations, and very few even need to be changed since his waist is at a consistent height (ie, while walking, running, using his sword, etc) and during some scenes, its just amusing to watch cloud flip off trains and whatnot. =3

so, no field edits had to be done, apart from making a new char.lgp hrc file of a shinra soldier with a wheelchair, and then tell the flevel to load that instead of the normal soldier that cloud becomes in Junon and on the cargo ship.

If you thought Handicapable Cloud was good, then prepare yourselves!

for Cloud...

HAS A PET!

Handicapable Nanaki!

...I did this after talking to someone and he said it would be funny if Nanaki had his back legs off and those wheels on instead.

while keeping a wheelchair securely at his waist? did he wrap his legs aroud it or use the same cement for his hair on the chair? =P

The wheelchair is moved along as if he has legs, but the wheels are static.

I find it odd that you mention limit breaks and NOT the fact he climbs ladders.

Personally I found it amusing to watch the wheelchair stay at his waist, even while he's doing things like meteorain, omnislash, climhazard, climbing ladders, etc.

I was talking to someone, and he gave me the idea to put Cloud in the wheelchair through the entire game.

I did it, and while I was making it, it occurred to me that Sephiroth STABBED cloud through the middle, and it certainly looked like the Masamune was going through his spine, so yeah, after Nibelheim, he became paralized from the waist down!

(and in the zack death, he never stands up, he just crawls around, which further supports this mod.)

anyway, here's a pic.

I changed every field model to have a wheelchair (except flashback ones) and I added in a special shinra soldier who was in a wheelchair for when Cloud is in Junon and changed the model for Cloud there.

If anyone is interested, I'll release this.

-edit-
This is Armoured Nanaki V1.

Graphical / Re: Final Fantasy 7 LP
« on: 2012-04-25 20:05:46 »
@e1sunz - Of course, it wouldn't be a LP unless it has a commentary about it, although I myself won't actually be commenting, only my friend will.

He's a relatively new LPer, but he has ALOT of time on his hands to make LP videos and in about 4 weeks, he made over 140 episodes at anything between 20 and 40 minutes. (except for his Koudelka LP, which is roughly 15 mins per episodes  at 33 episodes)

And I agree about the models, the public ones I release (or consider to anyway) are entirely spliced because it means I have exactly the same resources as anyone else on Qhimm or the other modding forums, however, the only limitation is the modder's imagination.

As for the reason there's shared designs, we came up with a mini background story.

Sephiroth is a soldier that went mad (canon) and Barret is a former soldier that was betrayed by his unit, and his fiancee was murdered (she was part of his unit) and the other members of Avalanche are also injured, and Barret is now on the run, and trying to take Shinra down.

Cloud (or rather Malachi in the LP) is just a mercenary that left his hometown after it burnt down in search of work as a mercenary to raise money for Nibelheim's restoration, while a group stayed in town and actually made repairs.

Tifa went with Mal, and their newest job was to help Avalanche take Shinra down.

However, I'll talk with the LPer and see if I can persuade him to let me change SOME of the script. (it was a downhill battle to let me change ANYTHING.)

as for Yuffie, she's a loyal Shinra soldier 2nd class that was sent on a mission to hunt down Barret AND Sephiroth, she pretends to join the team, but if I can change the script, the Wutai sidequest is a trap Yuffie set up wit Shinra to take Barret and his accomplices down to get a reward, however, the Don managed to complicate things.

After the team saves her, she genuinely joins the team and never tries anything against the party again.

As for Cid and Aeris, they're siblings and Cid was responsible for the rocket crash in Sector 5, he was tried and found guilty of intoxication and overall incoptence and was removed permently from the space program, at which point, he moved away from Midgar and married a former crew member, while Aeris stayed in Midgar with her adoptive mother. (Cid is the adoptive older brother by several years)

However, Aeris' keepsake is Cid's specialized key he made when he was younger that would one day open the door to his cockpit on his rocket, which he gave to her the day he left Midgar.

As a result, Cid is particularly pained by her death.

as for Vincent, I personally like to think he's Sephiroth's father, and in terms of models, they're virtually the exact same build.

and since Tifa and Cloud came form the same place, I gave them 'matching' outfits.

@Leonhart, see, thats one of the reasons I told him to not do a FF7 LP, a bunch of people already did ones, and even some modded ones, and I wanted to make his LP even more unique because of the extent I changed the spells and adjusted the outfits, but everyone has different tastes for LPs and FF7, I personally enjoy playthroughs that have custom made models, but I usually reserve those for myself, but when I make them, I always make a certain theme.

Ie, I made a horror-esc theme in which the team were borderline Elderich abominations, and even gave them entirely new animations. (took almost a month to change the battle animations for everyone. -.-)

example.
Cloud - his clothes were ripped, tattered and had the occasionally bloody splash, he had demonic claws with fresh blood on them, his hands and feet were wrapped in thick bandages, and his face was twisted with a metal lower jaw (complete with jagged teeth).
And for his animations, his magic casting animation has him stabbing his sword in the ground, and then he stabs his bloody hand into his chest (he then keeps it there for a little while) then he rips it out as he actually casts the spell.

hat was a fun mod to make. ^.^

« on: 2012-04-25 09:12:37 »
Okay, me and a friend of mine are going to be making a Let's Play of Final Fantasy 7, and he wanted it to be 100% pure, but I personally find that... immensely boring and don't think anyone would want to see it, since there's already about a dozen other LP of FF7.

So, we came to a compromise in which I redesigned the human characters, changed the spells and only a handful of enemies (just the soldiers + MP variants) and now that I also sorted everything out properly into correct spell order and materia, we are actually ready to begin filming of it.

This is how the playable characters look.

This is how Sephiroth looks.

As for the spells, I changed the name for every single spell, and I created drain, wind and water materia, and changed about 80% of the spell animations/graphics.

If anyone wants anything from this, I don't mind releasing any of it.

Basic spell changelog, and I am willing to change the spells to more conventional names if anyone wants the one I did, especially considering I even make correct materia (including levels) and changed the spell order.
Also, there may be a spelling mistake or 2, I'm writing this from memory and I didn't sleep in 2 days.

Okay, and for the PJP, I have to resize the model myself, but that won't take too long.

I just need to walk my dog first, then I'll do the different field models and I'll PM you the link to it.

How's that?

If you like it, I'll PM you the file for battle and field, but I won't do the minigames.

want the field as lego, chibi reconstruction, or the phoenix rejuvination?

Want the straps to be a different colour, or the same brown?

note, it takes... about 2 minutes to do a recolour, so I do not mind in the slightest. (I have the chest saved as the 'template' for recolours AND for the straps, those took forever to make.)

I'll take some pictures in a minute.

@e1sunz - I could make her have ANY colour for it, or colour combination, for instance, a white shirt and black trousers, or vice versa, if you want an all white one, I don't mind getting you one.

@UGersti - ...I now reallllllly wanna know what you wrote if you felt the need to delete your message.

After seeing Chocoline, I seriously considered making a field model for her and having her replace the merchants in every shop.

I have to say, I actually think she is one of the best merchants of the FF series.

But, the best one is the merchant from Resident Evil 4. :P

Welcome to the forum, and out of interest, how old are your kids?

I considered having kids, but the time wasn't right.

But, as for helping with the forum, are you able to make models or textures already, or are you more involved in writing?

There's surprisingly few number of actual writers here and another one would be appreciated to help take the load off others.

But, your username sounds familiar to someone I used to know on a different forum, would you object if I asked for the meaning behind it?

As for mine, It was the name of a close friend of mine that passed away. (there's no reason for it to become a point of discussion.)

If I didn't name it after him, then I'd have used something along the lines of Ultima Thule, which more or less means 'end of the world' as it extends past the known boundries, not the actual end of the world.

Hope to see you become a productive member here.

There's no real spoilers in the demo for the original, but make sure you can keep a constant connection when you download it, for me, it took almost 6 hours to download it, stupid 1.78gb demo.  :P

I know that they both have australian accents to hint that they're both from the same place, but originally, they didn't really speak using other dialects or anything and was just added for the dub.

Its random in the sense that it was added whe the original character didn't have any aspect of anything remotely similar to it, thus making it random, but I do agree that it was well portrayed, unlike the british accents in Folklore, those were just ABYSMAL.

and, to each their own, thats one reason why I like Lebreau more than anyone else in FF13. (I hated Sazh, he was annoying and the whole chocobo chick thing immensely annoyed me.)

Everyone has their own way of perceiving characters, and I just liked some more than others, just as others like other chars more than others, and not even registering some.

but, why did they change Snow's design the way they did for 13-2? he was reasonably cool looking, and now, looks... baaad. *_*

...Hope looks good though, I like his future design more than his original.

When I was playing the game, i was actually disappointed she only appeared in the first level...

against each person. (and if for the person that they don't really 'relate', I'll basically say something about what I thought did or didn't make sense in comparison to Lebreau)

Vanille
I think her design is more interesting than Vanille's.  (not to mention she doubles as a pseudo white mage with her potions.)

Snow
her weapon makes more sense than Snow's in the sense that your coat can magically make you able to punch a robot's circuits out, and Snow being the leader of Nora made... little sense, Lebreau seems more level headed and suited to that role, while Gadot and the others are better for the grunt work.
(except the kid, he seems to just be a random kid they picked up.)

Gadot
She uses her firearm in a much more realistic manner than Gadot, but she does slightly show off with her battle stance, which in turn is reminisce of Blank from FF9 (who happened to be my favourite from FF9) which automatically boosts her rating in my books.

Fang
Main thing that Lebreau has over Fang is the fact she doesn't have a random australian accent, but in terms of personality, the two are similar and I imagined Lebreau acting similar to Fang if she was kept as a final party member.

Lightning
She has personality and isn't a cross between Cloud and Squall.

Hope
I don't really get why Hope was kept as a proper party member, sure, he wanted revenge, but, I found his whole story and scenario forced, and basically, I just like Lebreau more than Hope.
for Lebreau, I thought that her role (shown mostly in flashbacks) showed that she was responsible and had abilities to raise funds for operations and keep account of other aspects with the shop and how she acted more mature than other people, ie, Snow.

<anyone else hoping he'd actually use Lightning's knife? I thought he could have 2 knives that combine into a boomerang or something...>

Sazh
...I just didn't like Sazh... at all, he'd basically a skinny Barret, except for Cid's past with a ridiculous Afro-being-a-bird-nest idea that probably started as an office joke, that they kept in the game because it was 'funny'.
plus, how do two handguns turn into an assault rifle!?

as for the Nora being used as a plot device, personally, I think it would have been better if NORA was just people on the purge train that decided they didn't want to go and acted up, since thats all Nora really became in the end.

but, Lebreau was shown saving Serah from monsters and chiding her and saying that she had to look after herself, i want the ability to talk to her more often if nothing else. *_*

To begin with, I thought FFXIII-2 would just be generic gameplay and generally terrible after playing the original, but the few hours I spent in FFXIII-2 was immensely more enjoyable than any of the time I spent in the original.

although, am I the only one that secretly hopes Lebreau has a bigger role than she did in the original game?

(her battle style in the original made her my favourite and i found her personality better than Vanille and would much rather have her in my team than either Snow or Fang, i actually ended up buying the xbox version of the game to cheat her into my party.)

but, I don't see myself wanting to buy FFXIII-2 on day 1 release, but when the price goes from £40 to around £25, then I'll get it. (or day 1 release if i can get the money from trading in games.)

« on: 2012-01-05 20:48:20 »
I'm only doing who is being redesigned, and there's already a 100% mod that changes all the NPCs into the CRP style.

-edit-
I don't normally just post updates without anyone leaving a comment, but I did some more progress.

I have all of the dialogue for the first disc changed, I changed 6 bosses completely, toughened up all of the others and I made full back stories for all of the major cast, including the enemies.

As well as this, I'm writing an omake for each person because each person has a background, and its unfeasible to go into the desired depth using flashbacks to give the player a taste for how I changed each person.

in recent news, I managed to give myself a third degree burn on my dominant hand, which burnt most of the skin off, and what's left swelled immensely and the only fingers I'm able to physically move are my pinkie and my thumb.

as well as working on this, I'm also working on quite a few other projects, several stories and working anything between 9 and 11 hours a day.

On a positive note, my main job doesn't require me to actually leave my house, so I can usually get quite a bit of time to do things in, including watching my vast, vast, immensely vast, anime collection.

due to my hand being rendered borderline useless, progress on this and my other projects are slowed, but for the FZP, about 90% of the graphical changes are finished, and I did several things without telling Furzball about for him and the player to discover as they play.

...and no, I'm not going to post details of that in both this and the other thread.

in terms of progress for this...

disc 1
models - around 60% changed
script - 100%
events - 100%

disc 2
models - around 60%
script - didn't start
events - didn't start

disc 3
models - around 60%
script - didn't start
events - didn't start

so, in answering any questions about progress and a potential release date, as and when it comes, this is presently just a hobby for me to do more or less.

When I'm done.

125
okay, some small updates.

The soldiers are updated (and using the crisis core colour scheme, but in crisis core, only the 3rd class has LONG gloves... why?) but, I did consider giving Zack and co studs, but I realized that would make them look overly similar to the Bloodshot redo and I don't want anyone to say that I ripped those details. ¬_¬

differences in colours:
3rd - PALE blue
1st - black

and I included a mini soldier sword, and I might add that the original FF7 soldier sketches had them using traditional swords and not lances.

and this is Katana's V1

Katana so far is being decided if his weapons are going to have gimmicks to them, ie, all of his weapons deal relatively the same damage, but have different elements or status ailments.

all of his weapons are modelled and named as well.

and other things for the mod include the turks and other character using the crisis core colours.

-another edit-
for Zack's final battle, I created a hairstyle for him from scratch based on his Crisis Core hairstyle.

also, Katana (a human) replaces Cait Sith, who works 100% on the field and in battle using a human skeleton.

I think if anyone desires to make something similar to that, they might want to get the mod and have their own human replacing Cait Sith.

failing that, I can provide a list of every single animation the field models of Cait Sith use and people can attempt to do their own.

(there's 65 animations to change.)
