Heya, new to the FF7 modding scene.
Is there any way this mod's contents can be combined with the Finishing Touch mod? There's certain aspects between the two that I would love to combine but since they're considered separate mods I don't seem to be able to. Or at the very least could you add some additional UI tweaks for Retouch in the future?

The biggest issues I'm currently facing while using Retouch over Finishing Touch is the inability to see the Total HP/MP during battle and the missing "Icon Order" (the A:B/X:O - OK:Cancel - Swap" option) and "Button Mapping" fix options that Finishing Touch offers to correct the buttons displayed based on the setup.

For the HP/MP issue, perhaps the battle UI could add bars to at least give some visual representation of how much the # displaying is out of your total? And while I haven't got to a stage of using Barrier/MBarrier yet to validate, the bars for those seem like they could be pretty tiny to see.

Not as dire, but it would be cool combining the different "Expanded Icons" options to have a choice between the ones already used in Finishing Touch and the Remake/Rebirth ones used in Retouch.

Also I'm not trying to come across as demanding or anything, so if I am understand I'm genuinely just curious about these things since both mods appear to be authored by Bonez. I dunno if these things would be possible or are potentially coming in a further update, but I hope they are. Retouch is by far one of my favorite looking UI design mods and I WANT to use it over Finishing Touch.

If you need to reverse your ok/cancel, you can do that in the "buttons" section. All the reversed options are there.

As far as HP bars, the HP bars can't be themed so they wouldn't fit the remake theme. Also there just isn't any room for them. Anyway, FF1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 never had HP bars or total HP. They aren't really necessary.

New here!

I seem to be running into an issue with Finishing Touch's battle View UI layouts. When I choose either the Finishing Touch or Finishing Touch 2 options The "box" around the right side UI elements don't seem to appear at all for me. Other ones like Optimized UI or Optimized UI 2 seem to let the boxes show just fine. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what. Any suggestions? I can provide my mod setup/configurations if needed.

That happens if you're using custom colors and not one of the color scheme choices in FT.  Because if you use custom colors, it wouldn't match the right side backgrounds, so it makes them transparent.

7th Heaven requires the English version of the game. You need to change the language in Steam.

no, i started a new game after installing 7th heaven and SAC and my other mods. my save point is in wall market, so i turned off SAC, loaded the game, went down to the next screen and got this:

To be fair, that could have been anything. Not necessarily SAC.

Just because 2/72 vendors from virustotal flags something doesn't mean the software "has a virus". Those are false flags, which is evident by the low number. You seem pretty misinformed about virustotal and what their information means. You need to be careful of software that has an overwhelming amount of flags and poor community score, not 2/72 with positive community score. Your computer is totally safe installing 7th Heaven from our github page. Why would we put the virustotal link on the github if it was nefarious? Same thing goes for SYW.

And if we had a portable version, it would be exactly the same as what you'd get with the installer.

It's actually more dangerous to download portable .exe's... In an effort to avoid viruses, you're basically asking for a workaround to virus protection lol... If you don't trust us, you shouldn't use our mods at all. Portable or otherwise...

I think most users are going to be confused by the death scene option especially given the way it's worded with "famously". This definitely isn't going to be the last time someone says it's not working correctly. So be ready for that lol.

Looks like 4.2.0.0 refuse to work with older disc version?  It thinks it's converted from Steam version.

4.2 still works with disc version... 7h is never not going to work with 1998 version.

Modding for ffnx ff8 is relatively new. Junctionviii (8's version of 7th heaven literally just came out like a month ago). Graphical mods for ffnx/j8 are being worked on, but it's new territory.

That's wonderful. Thanks Bonez!! I really appreciate the swift response and fast work on this.

There does appear to still be a few issues though unfortunately. Some of the status effects are now displaying the icons correctly in the battle screen, but at least one of them isn't - Darkness/Blind is still just showing text which is overflowing into the character names. I've not been able to test all of the various status effects though so there may be more.

Also, the menu icons are still not showing next to the item names in the Item/Inventory menu (I forgot to mention that issue in my initial post but it existed prior to the update).

Another issue I've just noticed whilst testing is in the Limit menu there is no icon next to the limit break name whilst using SAC. This doesn't bother me in the slightest (in fact, I prefer it that way to be honest) but thought I'd mention it in the interest of giving you as much info as I can.
Just confirmed all of that is working correctly. This shouldn't be possible as long as your mods are in the correct order

Ah, okay. Fair enough. It's a shame but can't be helped. I'll just disable SAC for now then as I'm only using the 'Vanilla' option anyway. I've been playing the game for years with the original translation so another run through won't hurt. I'll keep an eye on SAC to see if it ever gets updated to support expanded icons and re-enable it if and when that happens.

Hi,

Firstly, brilliant mod! I'm absolutely loving the modernised look this brings to the game so thanks to all involved for their hard work!

I'm having a small issue though - and I'm pretty sure it's something I've done but I can't for the life of me figure out what. I'm using the 'Expanded Icons - Set 1' option but the live status icons are refusing to show when in a battle. Instead it's just a text description that overflows into the character names (I'm not using character portraits in the battle screen) and looks really janky.

The thing is, it was working just fine and now it's not - but I'm not sure what I've done/changed to cause this.

I think I installed Shinra Archeology after it was working but I'm not sure. Maybe that's it? I did try to test this by disabling SA but I spent about half an hour trying to be inflicted with a status effect but it just wasn't happening lol. I'm not sure if I can do it with console commands or Black Chocobo? I'm not at the stage in the game where I have any status materia of my own.

Anyway, if it's to do with having SA installed, is there a way around it, or is it not compatible? Is there any alternate mod I can use to restore this feature without affecting anything else (as I love the setup I have, other than this one minor issue)?

If not to do with SA what else can I try? I don't remember changing anything else - either in ESUI or any other mod - since it was last working (other than possibly installing SA - though like I say this may have already been installed, I really can't remember).

Are there any logs or settings files I can provide to help, or any other information that would be useful?

Edit: I should add I'm using 7H v3.5.1.0, if it matters.

Yes, it's because of SAC. Expanded icons are not compatible with it yet.

Like I said, the reason the mods that come with SYW work in any language is because they don't use hext. Address offsets are not the same between languages, so a hext change in English that simply moves a text box over a few pixels could offset the entire game in another languages and completely brick the game. And there would be no way to filter out mods for specific languages. We couldn't just leave it up to the user to figure out which mods work and which ones wouldn't. Can you imagine the amount of bug reports we'd get from people trying to use hext mods with non-english? The mods would be sitting there in the catalog; people would have no reason to think only some of them would work for them because of the language they're using. It would be a shit show.

Anyway, If you're wanting to use 7th Heaven to essentially only use the exact same mods that come with SYW, then what's the point? You might as well just use keep using SYW. You wouldn't be getting the only benefit to using 7H: using hext mods like ESUI, Echo-s, Finishing Touch, Retouch, AavockESUI, tweaks, ps3tweaks, IFRIT, (maybe)new threat... If you can't use those mods, then why do you need to use 7th Heaven so bad?

It's because of this very thing that SYW serves as such a great alternative for non-english users...

But maybe someone can do what hobbitdur is suggesting one day.

First of all, 7th Heaven using the english version of the exe is not new to 4.0... It has literally always been the case since 7th Heaven 1.0. It was just "unseen" previously due to the 1998 game converter... The game converter was taking whatever language version you had installed and replaced it with the english version... Now we don't have to convert to the 1998 version but that also mean you have to start out with the english version from Steam rather than having it provided for you...

Anyway, many mods in 7th Heaven rely on hext which are only designed to work on the english version. Any mod that uses hext would have to be made to work individually for all languages. That is the reason 7H needs english. SYW doesn't rely on hext(or if it does have a little bit, it's custom for each language), so that's why SYW can get away with using any language. The problems you're showing in your screenshot are exactly what I'm talking about.

If it was as easy as "just letting you do it", we would; but as you can see, you'll run into a lot of problems because the mods are designed to work in English.

It's because you're using a super old version of Echo-s... Delete it and redownload it. Echo-s is up to version 1.16...

Is the button icon support a feature that's still to be implemented or should it be in there now? I have the following mods in 7th Heaven (ordering in priority top to bottom):

Finishing Touch
Enhanced Stock UI
Shinra Archaeology Cut

Script changes are working but controller icons aren't (just says [Cancel] in Barret's opening chat) unless I disable Archaeology. Field Avatars on dialogue also don't work, but I can live without those. I've tired switching the order so Archaeology is above the UI mods but still getting the same result.

Still will be. My dad recently died and dealing with estate stuff and everything that comes along with that takes up a lot of my free time right now, so I haven't had a chance to mess with ff7 for awhile.

I´m playing a new playthrough using this mod a this happen when I use Cure or a potion:


The menu dissapear, I have to press square to see it again.

I´m playing New Threat 2.0.

I can't replicate.


Must be something on your end with button mapping or possibly some ps3tweaks thing that messes with menu buttons... See if it does it without FT and/or ESUI.

You can use the old disc version, yes.

7th Heaven requires (and has always required) the English version of the game. Change the language for the game in Steam.

This mod is great, do you think you'll be able to make a version that has controller icons/ESUI support? I know the way Final Fantasy 7 works translation wise is janky but it would be great if it was supported since this IMO is the best and most accurate translation mod.
