how hard did you make omega weapon on this mod

heya... the gameplay feels a bit different now :) (for eg GF spamming the SPR ignore moves, won;t ignore SPR anymore finally) ... especially if you are using both this multimodpack + the hard mode launcher (exclude the HP.dll imo if you do, so you keep 9999 cap on u)
i been focused on non-optional bosses until v9 where i've just added a couple small tweaks to Omega... HP is not what it was... and it should be a bit faster... but i haven't tested that part yet... i might of also added a cast or two... but although i found almost complete magic list...
eg ultima 19, apocalypse 20, Wall 52... etc... it only has a few of the many Unique boss moves listed... so i think for v10 i'll start trying to identify the magic/abilities after #55 Catastrophe...
The End for eg isn't in the list yet... despite WALL 52 + FULL-CURE 51 + RAPTURE 53 etc... being there...

i mean if you really wanted we could have OMEGA casting THE END 16x or so on repeat... with max haste... keen to read some ideas on here or the Discord page for my mods...

using pretty much all the FF8 Tools...
DELING + DOOMTRAIN + CACTILLIO + IFRIT + Hyne for some teleporting etc to test areas...

i'll be uploading v9 tonight i think, just trying to fix one of the 3 Sorceress Battles... which got corrupted... in v8 or v9wip i think...

i think the re boss fight with adel on disk 4 is not gonna work out that well

because when you beat adel, she heaves on the floor and then screen goes white and then game might softlock

it surprised me that it was fine in-game as far as my tests went actually... it's just not super helpful since i already made ADEL LVL 100 fixed for the Real fight... but this way at least it can be fought again... without having to heal you know who... makes it very diff... needing to restrict yourself to single target moves is not something everyone liked on that part...

but if i drop the CANON ADEL to lvl 99... i can make a diff adel for lvl 100 + extra/diff moves...
could even have 3 versions of every boss in the game with the custom ranges for LOW MEDIUM HIGH Difficulty... based on lvl all the enemies in the game by default were :
lvl 1-19 = EASY...
lvl 20-29 = MEDIUM
lvl 30+ = HARD

i've made allot of changes to this ;) and since you can change the abilites/spells cast for each of the 3 DIFFICULTY/MOVE CHARTS...
there is allot of potential to turn this into a DARK AEON (FFX) STYLE MOD...


my plan was orig, to give Adel some Minions... like how Edea had Ignuion x2... in disc 1...
but fought 3v3... for now all the boss fights i've added as random encounters can be escaped from...

That looks interesting ! How did you change the color of Grendel ?

I modified the .png files that came with the ENEMY UPSCALE MODPACK
"\Final Fantasy VIII\textures\en"
i gave all the Enemies more Color Saturation and also chose to manually adjust hue for some of them... for those i did, i used the same hue settings for the diff body parts so they match up with each or at least should :) (all good so far)
you noticed the main thing i haven't shared yet... :)
PS: i used PAINT.NET when doing individual images...
ImBatch for Batch Color Saturation +15% ish...

Is there any way to have this mod on Steam version?

I've been inspired by this to make my own steam version mod with allot of similar improvements :)

hi, assuming you use the UPSCALED TEXTURE PACKS...
have a look inside Final Fantasy VIII\textures\ch
you will typically find folders for all the versions of all the playable characters inside...
it helps to know that the ones with weapon names are BATTLE Textures :) easy to create your own Weapon Re-Color this way...

I love using the FF8_hard_mode mod/launcher... thus i've kept my mods complimentary... USED DOOMTRAIN + DELING +CACTILLIO... for gameplay mods...
(don't say there are no tools for FF8, i love these tools :P )

and so i've given the GF - Cerberus a few more Status Effects to cast on the party... because using the hard mode, he becomes useless since double + triple are disabled...
so now he CASTS HASTE + REGEN + ANGEL WING (MAGICAL BERSERK x2.25 damage) but i'll probably scale it down to 150% or so, maybe... it'll nerf Rinoa's Angel Wing too if i do that though...

LION HEART BUTTON for other people to use it... it skips RENZOKUKEN... Zell for eg is very funny looking during the entire animation while holding no gunblade/sword... oh and since it's using the "BUTTON / SLOT" for DEVOUR it only works on trash mobs and not bosses... anyway this one was mainly for fun...

Tweaked DOOM command / ability... gave it more status effects + some attack power instead of 0... need to check if it's too powerful at low lvls

This one is so fun to use now IMO... instead of KAMIKAZE being Physical... it now Casts a single target version of "Great Attractor" one of Ultimecia's Moves before Ejecting the caster from the Battle & KO-ing them...

one thing i noticed even before adding any extra mods to the OP's... is that i couldn't get the HP de-limiter to function for me... but everything else works as intended, i'm just happy there were ways to buff the specific bosses i finally just got too even more :)
any help with that would be nice... but i've avoided changing any of the moves that are meant to do 9998 fixed dmg... so no forced game over... :)

Well this would be great... i was already excited when i realized i could use DOOMTRAIN + CACTILIO + DELING to mix up which enemies appear where... but adding some FF Icons from other games has to be something more then a few people would try out...

as you can see only took me about 20-25 minutes to add color to 2688 .PNG files :)
i used HUE -3, SATURATION 22, AND GAVE IT THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF NOISE REDUCTION...

BUT TRY AROUND 15% COLOR SATURATION ... ENJOY :)

SINCE YOU ARE MODDING FILES YOU ALREADY HAVE NO NEED TO RE-DOWNLOAD 1.53 GB SO I HAVEN'T BOTHERED TO UPLOAD MY RESULT AS A MOD... it's all the OP's work + small tweak that goes a long way :)
PS: RECOMMEND BACKING UP YOUR TEXTURES FOLDER...

doomtrain isn't compatible with the steam version of final fantasy 8 , i check that out now , it look for some kernel file that's not present in the steam version :\

it is you just need to use Deling FF8 Field Editor to extract the file from Final Fantasy VIII\Data\lang-en\main.fs

also you might aswell try out Cactilio another great tool for FF8 found on these forums :)
it's used to modify the battle.out which is found inside Final Fantasy VIII\Data\lang-en\battle.fs

and back up your files before you start... :)

also if this sounds like too much... maybe have a look at my first attempt at modifying both of those :)

started just a few days ago, i've already done so much :) loving these tools :)
for eg lvled up bosses past their previous max lvl... adjusted the attack power / magic powers for almost everything...
since i'm a fan of the Hard_Mode_Launcher for FF8... my mods work alongside that + complement it imo...
i also made some changes to CERBERUS the GF since he is made useless when you use the hard mode ... since double/triple are broken by the unlimited magic mod i guess... now with my mod Cerberus Casts: Haste + Angel Wing + Regen on all party members...
this is like Rinoa's Angel Wing in that it makes the character BERSERK except it's RANDOM MAGIC ATTACKS BASED ON THEIR STOCK AND DOUBLE DAMAGE...

I also broke the DMG LIMITS for most big moves in the game... Limits / High end Magic / GF's other then Bahumut/Eden
also gave the other GF's better stats at higher levels to try to make them less useless, and made EDEN do a less DMG in fact...

also Doomtrain is great for trying out weird stuff... like Making Zell Perform LIONHEART :P Despite having no Sword / Gunblade LOL

basically you can easily change the "button" for something like "doom" "devour" etc to Cast something else... and not limited to just magic obv...
Also managed to make RINOA perform Seifer's Limit Break... FIRE CROSS... her animation is fun to watch, and her weapon reacts as his would pretty much...

Casts "Great Attractor" on one Enemy before Ejecting+KO-ing the Caster...
Cinematic Planets being flung at your enemies... nice :)

also figured out how to make everyone do LIONHEART even with no swords :P ... just for fun... this one isn't in the mod pack anymore :)

Also Figured out how to single-cast "Angel Wing" on people other then RINOA... but this happens and then they get stuck... so my Cerberus Mod is the way to go for MAGICAL MAD RUSH...

ENEMIES including BOSSES now HARDER, BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER...

ENJOY MANY NEW ENEMY COMBINATIONS :) + Special LVL 100 Boss Battles in Disc4 (DARK AEON) STYLE DISC 4 Random Battles...
(slowly adding more)

ENEMY ATTACKS (some changed)+ STATS + MOVESLISTS HAVE NOW BEEN BUFFED TO BE LESS PATHETIC... :) Omega / Ultima need Testing...

it should be known that FF8 has a limit of up to 4 different random battles on a field map... so if you are testing out all the fights, you gotta try to fight all 4 BattleScenes in one room/area/map before moving on... hence why reporting any bugs/crashes with a screen-shot if you can + location in-game helps allot...

most attack powers adjusted... Certain enemy attacks now have extra negative status effects + but some can also cause aura/regen... etc...

CERBERUS REDESIGNED - Using Cerberus with the FF8_Hard_Launcher was previously pointless since he casts Double + Triple on the party... with this mod, he now also Casts Haste + Angel Wing - MAGICAL BERSERK ON THE WHOLE PARTY... USE Cerberus's new power Wisely...JUST LIKE "MAD RUSH" Except MAGIC not Physical Attacks :) ps: they cast using their stocked magic

I'VE SLOWED THE ATB TO 80% OF IT'S ORIGINAL SPEED... THIS WORKS WELL... AS EVERYONE'S SPEED IS HIGHER THEN BEFORE ... (ESPECIALLY ENEMIES)
UNLOCKED DMG OVER 9999 FOR MANY MORE SPELLS + ABILITIES + GF's too...
added small chance for status effects to most GFs...
eg Leviathan has small % to wash away an enemy... Pandemona also has a small % to blow away an enemy... that sort of thing :)
for those of you who like to use: Percent & Catastrophe... "There are a pair of spells intended for Selphie's "Slot" Limit command that weren't used. Both can be obtained as normal spells with a GameShark (or HYNE Save EDITOR)(as can the four that are used), and work as advertised, though they weren't given unique animations, and look identical to the Fire spell. No "Slot" spells can be junctioned, however.

Percent - This drops the HP of all enemies to critical levels.
Catastrophe - Deals heavy non-elemental damage to all enemies."

I've Finally Changed The Animations for both of these... they should now look much better instead of Casting fire...
Percent now has "LIGHT PILLAR" ANIMATION - Holy - 97 Attack Power - single target -
instead of always reducing enemy HP to 1, which was clearly OP... 64/255 chance to BLIND (Darkness)
Catastrophe now has "HELL's JUDGEMENT" ANIMATION - Non-Elemental - 169 Attack Power - all targets - 96/255 chance to apply DOOM
Rapture - now has a diff animation for now... i decided to try removing the EJECT Status Attack... but then you would continue fighting invisible enemies lol...so using the Animation from something else... for now it's MEGA PULSE CANNON... which looks quite funny coming out of a person's Torso imo...84 Attack Power - Non-Elemental (but i thought about making it Holy maybe...?)
ALSO... I've Stopped "THE END" from being an I-WIN-BUTTON...
it now is just incredibly strong... but NO LONGER WILL 1 SHOT EVERY BOSS...
196 Attack Power - added 96/255 chance to apply Vit0 / Confusion...

For the Sake Of Comparison... Ultima was 80 Attack Power default... now 88...  but with THE END doing 196 it's still much more powerful then even APOCALYPSE which is at 128... this feels fairly right to me... but i'd love to get more feedback :)

For eg:  I FINALLY FIXED THE STATS ON ENEMIES/BOSSES THAT WEREN'T LVLING UP...
NOW BOSSES / ENEMIES GET MUCH FASTER / RESIST MAGIC >..AS THEY GAIN LVLS...
SEIFER/ADEL ARE GREAT EXAMPLES... NOW CAST/ATTACK ALLOT MORE OFTEN... AND HE/SHE :p HAS NEW MOVES... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED !!!
I'VE TESTED KEY PARTS TO MAKE SURE IT'S STILL BEATABLE... ADEL FOR EG AT LVL 100, GAVE ADEL'S "VICTIM" MORE HP...
ABOUT 17K MAKES IT LESS HASSLE TO KEEP ALIVE... SINCE NOW THE DRAIN MOVE DOES MORE... SHELL STILL HELPS...[/size]

Carbuncle now available before even leaving balamb isle...
so that is now Quez + Shiva + Ifrit + Diablo and now in v17 onwards... there is a Carbuncle to draw from a Random Encounter on Balamb Beach... :)
reminder GFs attacks in my mod don't ignore SPR stats... not even Eden or Bahamut or Doomtrain...
this really helped the re-balancing of Magic VS GF VS ATTACK... :)
Starter weapons have a little less Attack power then they did... should increase motivation to upgrade...
some item drops added to make it easier for first few upgrades... fights around Balamb isle...

i gradually got worse with the filenames as you'll notice...
ps: in case someone wanted to redo this from scratch with more organized filenames, i used...

Tonberry debug mode + FF8 in-game :) to get the .bmp

Renamer Lite = batch renaming to remove space or brackets etc...

Bulk Image Converter v2.0.1.0 by slade73 = to batch convert .bmp to .png (without issues i had with others)

ImBatch = to batch resize 1024x1024... added a little color saturation to some things, slight blur/unfocus to some...
Paint.net = when i wasn't doing batch processing... i'd love to find a batch processing plugin for this one...
not saying they are the best programs... just what i managed to use...

Berrymapper to get the hashmaps... :)

i still wanted to find out about the textures that were smaller then 256x256 for eg, many 128x256 / 256x128 etc that i wasn't sure whether to stretch to 1024x1024 or upscale 4x res...

and was there a way to check the hashmap file for duplicates automatically? with close to 7000 textures...
