Myst6re who update the field.bin?with an hexadecimal editor?its necesary decompress with gzip?
your program is amazing  :P

This is Makou Reactor that will do it.

402
This is an extended timestamp, the last three digits are maybe for the microseconds.

403
With the PSX field files, does your application handle file resizing? Can files get larger than their originals? Does Makou handle any lookup changes for when files get shifted about? Also, does Makou do any CRC recalculation?

When the field is larger, he is placed at the end of the archive, or in a space if any. I update the FIELD.BIN of course when field positions or sizes change, and the iso file structure. Aaaand... no, Makou does not CRC recalculation :(

404
Is the 1.5 in the trunk or in a branch? And what environment do I need to compile it?

Oh, I need to remove the branch ;D, the 1.5 is in the trunk. To compile the code you need Qt and the easiest way is:
  • Install the Qt SDK with Qt Creator
  • Run Qt Creator and open "Makou_Reactor.pro"
  • A wizard opens, you can select the build directory
  • Click on Compile > Run

The exe is created on your build directory, you need the dlls on windows. But if you want you can compile with an other OS (linux or Mac OS).

405
Awesome @ BSX work. No beta binary download?

No ::)

406
Ah, this is interesting. I used to have a lot of trouble building PSX ISOs that would run with field changes. Good to know I needn't worry about this any more.

I have no guarantee that it works all the time, this is a beta feature that can be improved.

407
I'm not sure if you noticed, but the Walkmesh viewer displayed height the wrong way around. I noticed this with blin_X maps where the stairs are the only height changes. What leads downstairs in the visual background would lead upstairs according to the walkmesh viewer...

Will this bug be fixed in the new version?

You mean blinst_X? I didn't use the camera in Makou 1.4, this is fixed in 1.5 since I understand how to use it. Move the first slider in the walkmesh dialog, you'll undestand what I say.

408
I finally opened the PlayStation 3D models, without textures for the moment.

Current changelog 1.5.0 (in the repository):
  • Fix a crash when saving LGP (nobody noticed?)
  • Can save an image disc PSX
  • [Scripts] Goto/Label system
  • [Scripts] Editor 2.0 (work in progress)
  • [Walkmesh] Full editor like Deling
  • [3D model] PSX model viewer

This editor is both intriguing in design and in make; do you ever plan on releasing a source code as you did for Makou Reactor, because as of now I am quite curious to root around and see how you made all this :).

I was also discussing with a friend how we both appreciated how you showed dialogue tid bits in game, in real-time through the editor itself. Which is rather invaluable. So a big thank you!

Well, the source code is of course in SourceForge, here. If you want I can create for you an archive of the latest version.

Also, I do not think your first post is fully up to date; your to-do list matches the change log of the latest release, if I am not fully mistaken. Which I might be.
Where do you plan on taking this next, if I may ask? :).

I've updated my post, but for now I focus on Makou Reactor. If you have any suggestions, I will add it to my (private :P) TODO list.

I'm waiting for people to tell me that.  So come on, chop chop!  I need confirmation on:

Proud Clod

Hojo

Hack7

Remix Patch

Loveless

Meteor

Sfxedit

Loveless seems to work, and I see no reason why Meteor does not ;).

411
It's Chinese to me :?

413
So, could someone please verify my conclusion concerning the BSX header, and if correct, update the wiki page on BSX files?

Soon as I can. I have some code for BSX in Makou.

What I call the triangle is called ID or I in the files. Normally these are the mesh of walkmesh. http://wiki.qhimm.com/FF7/Field/Walkmesh

For example with a walkmesh with 3 triangles:

Number of Sectors= 3 triangles
Sector Pool:
ID1= (x1, y1, z1, -) (x2, y2, z2, -) (x3, y3, z3, -)
ID2= (x1', y1', z1', -) (x2', y2', z2', -) (x3', y3', z3', -)
ID3= (x1'', y1'', z1'', -) (x2'', y2'', z2'', -) (x3'', y3'', z3'', -)
Sector Access Pool:
AccessForID1 = (None, ID2, ID3)
AccessForID2 = (None, None, ID1)
AccessForID3 = (ID1, None, None)

With Makou you can't see the ID, but with the last version of Deling, it's possible.

I wrote a tiny tutorial about this on the Hyne wiki: https://sourceforge.net/p/hyne/wiki/Translate%20Hyne/
You can find the needed ts file here in the trunk directory (trunk/deling_en.ts).
In which language you want to translate?

Brilliant piece of software! Congratulations. I tried today the beta version, I made some changes in the very beginning in the infirmary scene, but when I saved it said that an error occured, probably because I used more than seven characters in the name of Squall, or some other change that I made which exceeded the limit of the text. Anyway I restored after the original fsi file in the directory of the game, but what happened next was that my pc didn't recognize the cd roms of the game. It said that the cds are empty. I restarted windows but the problem persisted, until I put some another cd in the tray which it did recognize, and after that it was able to recognize the FF VIII cds again. That seemed to me strange so I thought to let you know, if you are still working in this project.

Did you open the FIELD.FS archive located on your disks? If not, there is no reason Deling affects your disk, moreover it cannot save read-only files.

You can save in the debug room on your ps emulator and use Hyne to convert ps save to pc save.

Deling 0.7b is almost ready.

Current Changelog:
  • Model texture preview
  • Current background entity preview
  • Encounter editor
  • Walkmesh editor
  • Camera editor (Camera + Camera Range + Movie Camera)
  • Door & gate editor
  • Sound id editor
  • Additional text characters editor
  • One field archive (fs) support
  • Custom font support
  • Export/Import files from the current field

What Deling 0.7b can't do:
  • Add/remove scripts
  • View and edit particles easily (but it's possible)
  • Edit/Export walkmesh easily (but it's possible)
  • Edit/Export 3d model
  • Convert PC to PS
  • Edit image disk files
  • Edit background
  • Edit kernel.bin

About custom fonts:

I finally made an integrated editor in Deling to add fonts. For now, it is not possible to import an image to make his characters, you must do it manually. To integrate the new font to Final Fantasy VIII you must make the changes yourself, ie put sysfnt.tex and sysfnt.tdw (which you can create from Deling) in your archives (menu.fs <= sysfnt.tex & main.fs <= sysfnt.tdw).

Unknown data:

As you may have noticed, I edited the wiki with my knowledge of the data. I still have some unknown data:

2. I can change music within a particular field, but only that music that already loads. How would one go about forcing a field to load a different set of music, so you could then tell it to play one of these newly-loaded songs? For example, if I'd like to force the Temple of the Ancients to play Gold Saucer music, how would I go about that?

I do not know. But I think the musics are launched via the AKAOs.

« on: 2012-07-28 18:47:09 »
I executed this command a few days ago and I have not had any problems.

422
I've thought about using labels, by the way I made it on another program (Deling). This will in the next version perhaps, what is certain is that it will be possible to save the iso.

Releases / [FF8PC] Restore the debug room (2013-03-11)
« on: 2012-07-19 15:06:57 »
On Final Fantasy VIII PC, the field called start is broken. I rebuilt this field from the PlayStation version, here is how to integrate it in the game:

  • Download this archive (other mirror)
  • Open the "start.fl" file (in the zipped archive) with a text editor to adjust the file language (see this post)
  • Open "Path\to\your\Final Fantasy VIII\Data\field.fs" with Deling
  • Go to "Import/Export" tab
  • Go to "c:\ff8\data\eng\field\mapdata\st\" path
  • Replace start.fi, start.fl and start.fs by my files in the zipped archive

Remarks:
  • FF8 must be completely installed
  • Create a backup of your field archive (field.fs, field.fi and field.fl) before the operation!
  • With Deling, you can replace files one by one, or delete the three files together, then add my files

424
Makou Reactor is now on sourceforge.

It is not yet implemented.
