Hey guys, I've made some progress, forgive me for not having a screenshot ready. (I'm at the tail end of a VFX contract and that 5 grand is badly needed)

SPEAKING OF dear Cloudsmash, I do accept donations, but it's been a while, let me get back to you once I've set all that up again. ;)

I have everything ready for some surgical ZBrush work (Which for lack of normal maps, will spice up the low poly for here)

ALSO... My old APZ Cloud has been ripped and shared all throughout the net, and that amuses me greatly! I am no great master artist, far from it. How about I just share the not broken up model? I'd rather people have access to that. I'll get back to you guys once I'm able to breathe. (Wife and kid and making movies) but this is a fun little project for me that hopefully will make some folks happy :)

That's all I could ever ask for

This is reassuringly the most accurate Cloud I've ever made. He lines up with this new Remake Cloud (Which has been tweaked) and also still recognizable as the AC Cloud as well as Crisis Core (Even though he had baby-face in that one) The remake Cloud look like me, huge dark circles under his eyes, and cheeks withdrawn. He must be an animator!

The only hard part will be figuring out the hair... It's never easy to do the hair... (Like that time I was accused of "stealing UV's" for APZ Cloud's hair) Thinking I'll just make it simple and polygonal and airtight so I don't have to deal with any complications. Just gotta... Lay it out, and that's the hard part, then welding it all, and matching it...

Word. I might talk to you about that when I get around to doing it. I'm all for simplicity, so we'll see what happens.

I'm not really into AC style characters, but I'm still eager to see how it turns out. :)

I'll make it as a solid ps3 era style Character first, THEN chop him up for this. And as for style... I'm aiming for the Remake's style, whatever it's called. In a way it's the same as APZ CLoud, just... not made by a newb :P

I made an altered version of  your model with a head from another (ripped) model. I even found a way to  make the eyes to  blink correctly. It would help if you would use for the eyes another texture. Because the Npc's use the same textures for closed eyes.

I figured that one out a long time ago!. I never really dug the "realistic proportion" mods, but I did figure out how to get it to blink ;)

Never got around to putting together a field model, I may or may not for this new one. We'll see... I'm a vfx artist now, close to finishing a contract, and really close to closing a deal in LA for a movie I co wrote. Exciting stuff! (Then why am I so poor...) It's the work life man... It's hard! (and yet I still have a fascination with these... non career related interests)

I can only assume you folks have seen the footage from the FFVII Remake. I suppose that might prompt me to do a Remake version, which was, more or less, the version I built but never finished :P

Would anyone like that?

I still have this:

And years more experience and now professional industry work under my belt.

This is awesome, thank you! (Even though I have no way of playing FFVIIPC on my current system...)

Just the same, I appreciate your work. It makes me happy :)

DLPB... Awesome. I am immeasurably interested IN your re-translation project, AS WELL AS seeing the original intent of the creators... Infact I've always had an interest in such things, context, or perspective, point of view, however you wanna phrase it. And yet just plain haven't had the time to actually use or read it. But I must say I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the matter and even about the process of localization in general. Delightful to point out the ineptitude and honest desperation that went into the localized American product we got.

It's funny how things get stuck in the public mind, such as the bolts on Frankenstein's monster, oh yeah... and calling the monster Frankenstein! The original book had no such things... But no amount of my proving the origin will change the public memory. And this goes across the entire plane of incorrectly taught history lessons in our American schools... I find original contexts and purer intentions enlightening. And I see you in those exact same shoes on the FFVII translation matter. One can embrace it or subvert it, it's all a matter of personal temperament.

And here's where I don't take a stand, but sympathize, with some of the mistake-come-canon like Phoenix Down. Technically incorrect, some-what-justified, and I get that, but I like it so... It can be argued, as well it should be, but I'll just sit back and be content with the way things are and enjoy it. I mean... Why not!? It's just a game isn't it  ;) (Says the guy who drew up comparisons to the differences between the in-game model and character art details of Ocarina of Time when he was a lad)

It's bewildering how far FFVII has come in garnering a following, complete with vabid fandom and all it's insistent fury...

I don't think I have a point... Except to say Thank You. Whatever inspired you to do this rings true to the way I think, and I appreciate the monumental effort and networking it must have took to take on such a task. Your passion isn't wasted on me, even if I haven't had the chance to truly experience it, I still intend to... some day.

Word yo

This is "Completely Unrelated" so...

I've explained this before right? Can't remember... All you need to know is... I am more than one person crammed into one body  :P

OH DON'T GET ME STARTED... I think you've prompted me to finally draw that picture I had planned with all the iterations of Cloud...

Original, Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, Crisis Core secret ending(Or New Canon), Dissidia, Dissidia 012(Bad guy version?... Can't remember the terminology)

Other than slight variations and whatnot I think those are all the major ones.

I stand corrected! (For lack of a simple google...) Nevertheless, as awesome as that is, it's not... Exactly the same design.

Screw em all! I want to see a realistic Soul Reaver! One was designed and molded on a Lord of the Rings sword community... But money dried up and the whole community collapsed before it could get started... Too bad though... That's one I REALLY wanna see!

Forget Cloud... I'm doing THIS

You need to combine them to receive your ultimate form...
One Winged APZ - the evils new face :P

Man... you just made my day, my week... Possibly my month!

:o So the voices give you strength?  Now it all makes sense! lol

Dude you have no idea ;) Awesome... I laughed out loud

As a teenager I explained myself by assigning different facets of my personality to three characters. James, Rick, and APZ. (Don't ask how that acronym came about) Clearly... APZ is the happy confident lovable goofball... Rick my mischievous arrogant impulsive side. And James my poet, quietly observing with calm acceptance.

I've been drawing these guys for 15 years. lol Yes, the voices give me strength!

HA ha! You guys are awesome.

I know it sounds all depressing and what-not. It's hard to explain to most folks that I'm a happy guy, I just happen to have this dark cloud that doesn't go away. Yes, I'm a happy guy  ;D And I'm blessed, and I'm lucky.

It's interesting to me that I'm not a black-and-white cartoon character of a man, it's interesting that there's layers to this character I call me. It's a case where my natural neurosis is my saving grace, if life's a story worth telling, then it can't defeat me! I have to keep living it, because it makes the story more interesting.

Seriously guys, in about 50 years I'll write down this weird drama for others to read. It's too good to keep to myself! But for the sake of myself and those I love, I'll save it for now, until the time is right.  ;)

In the meanby, thank you guys for a general air of vague support. I don't need it, but it is appreciated  ;)

I won't pretend I can sympathize with you mate! Anyone who believes he is is just pretending! The only real thing I can say is that I wish God will take care of you and your family!

Thank you sir :)

Nothing is forever ...

Indeed ;) There's hope after all, this could take decades, but I'll be waiting, patiently. Faith

I did...

I tell you what! My life is a soap opera, and I just have to accept that  8-)

My... "issue" has been buried unresolved for so long. One of those things where everyone in your life immediate shouts "Get Over It" not letting you experience the comfort of consolation. There is no consolation, at least not in this circumstance... I guess when your issue is more of a personal thing where you're co-to-blame and happens 2 days before a tragic family crisis... Well... Nobody cares what YOU have to say or think... Ya know? They only care about what you DO, and whether or not you make others happy.

So it was my task to bring joy when I had none for myself, and I did, while being busy 90 hours a week on little sleep. And nobody cares, nobody patting me on the back, nobody saying "I'm proud of you" or "I'm glad you do this for us", nobody on MY side of this issue. Nope... Just... As long as I don't mention me, everyone's happy. It doesn't matter if I'm happy, just that I smile and joke and play my part. I guess I don't need the acknowledgement at all... But what intrigues me was how little what I felt mattered to anyone. It wasn't about me after all...

But then the family part gets better, and the deep chasm and spread hate of the other issue is still unresolved. What do you do? And you bring it up, just to work it out, and no one wants to listen "Quit throwing yourself a pity party" And it could be said "You have sh*tty friends" But hey... It's all I got! So you never really get the change to "get over it" truly, just bury it deep and hope it doesn't pop up any time soon. Of course, they care about me, but they'd rather I just be "happy", than to find any kind of closure. Which is a wise thing to want, to just be happy regardless of this one thing. And I guess I am. I am happy :) It's just that one thing, a very big part of me.

And while I now have a sort-of consolation about this. After posting this thread I come to find that it is NOT the full resolution I wanted. But still in the right direction. Baby steps, I suppose. Hope.  ;)

One day, I hope. Redemption, forgiveness. Leaving all the guilt and pain behind. That's what I want.  :)

(All with the magical knowledge that nobody really gives a crap what I want inside. Which is why posting here is just as good as talking to my loved ones) No offense :) Just honest.

Nobody cares! Do you care? How could you! You don't even know what I'm talking about!  But I appreciate any of you who took the time to read these indecipherable ramblings. Thank you

I sure wish we had a way to like posts.

Word  ;D

Thanks guys, no I'm not interested in Cait Sith and no I didn't "Find Gob"

But I'll keep it mysterious  ;)

Far be it right to expound the inner deepest working of my soul to a crowd of people who either don't know who I am or only like me because of APZ Cloud  :P It's only right because it'll make absolutely no sense

I just got word that one of my deepest most buried hopes is truly the outcome I've always wanted. Validation for years of emotional pain and unanswered questions. A clear path to that which I desperately desire. A pain that landed me in the hospital once for an under 30 almost heart attack. The solemn trudge of these past few years has aged me rapidly, and wonderfully granted me an earnest humility and sincerity.

I know now what must be done, and I know now how to get there. Hope will guide the way, and the promise of the sunshine I've always sought is enough to sustain me. Even if I never get there... The light it's self is the reward...

One can say... My heart has been made whole again, that or... you know... Unbroken  ;)

"Who cares! Make the darn Cloud already! or Tifa, or Yuffie, or Cait Sith! Everybody's always making dumb Clouds..."

Because I assume there's some of you out there who are ALL-ABOUT the Cait Sith  ;D

I'd like to do everyone, but I can't spend too much time on separate project like this if I want to build a career...  :P It takes time to hone skills and master a craft, and it helps when you're getting paid to do it in the mean-by  ;D

Well guys, I haven't forgotten about you! Things didn't go the way I wanted... But here we are, and I'm now finally gainfully employed doing this kind of stuff for a living Huzzah!

I hope to soon resume this project. Empty promises I know  :-\ I've said it all before and life forged ahead anyways. But now I have a career in the industry, and allot more talent. I hope to match that Sephiroth I saw posted here a while ago. My model will be awesome, and readily available for you all.

I can't promise when I can begin, but I do know that it won't take long once I start. Honestly I don't even know how many folks will care  :P There's no way he'll be as popular as APZ Cloud (Which, I might add, I haven't gotten any e-mails about in a long time... re-releasing him seemed to have been a smart move!) But it'll be cool, and there will be genuine folks who like it. All that I know for a fact. How many there are isn't a concern. As long as one person enjoys it... Then I did my job  :)

;D My advice is this: LEARN FROM IT

I looked at the ripped Kingdom Hearts models and learned more from studying that... than many students at my school learned in almost 2 years! Of course mostly what I learned was better uv laying (which is still pretty wasteful in APZ Cloud ;) ) and texture painting. But it gave me a foundation for seeing in polygons and NOW... I was one of the few at the top of my graduating class. I understand edge-looping and retopology like nobody's business. (Which still puts me at entry level in my industry... But it's a solid foundation to build from)

Soon I'll move into animation and away from video game stuffs... But I learned allot and enjoyed it. Once I finally get my career underway I'll let you guys see the results!

Remember... I'm not amazing, I'm not some super genius, I'm not a master... I merely enjoy what I do... And I like to share the results  :) No matter what you do in life.... If you can find a way to enjoy it... You'll have the upper hand!

As much as I appreciate everyone who loves this model...

I must ask the forum posters to please stop making iterations and different versions of my mod.

I never dreamed I'd say something like this... and I cannot and will not stop you. I just ask that if you are interested in this kind of thing... that you use your time building the skills necessary to make your own creations. And not using mine as a base for minor alterations.

Love it, hate it, I've heard it all. This has been a fantastic microcosm of what it's like to make content for mass distribution and fan interaction. I'd rather inspire new talent. Realize, I'm not demonizing any of you. It all comes from an honest place, and I understand that fact. It's flattering  ;) In no way am I trying to be negative about this. I'm merely asking kindly to focus your time and effort into more productive things.
