I am having an issue once I get to Disc 2 with the Bootleg mods installed. When it gets to the Please Insert Disc 2 screen it will not allow me to save even though I selected the correct option. Also I've run the fix listed in the FAQs to no avail. I have now played Aerith's death scene four times now and its driving me a little batty. How do I switch discs on a virtual drive?

Well it crashed again and overwrote the log.  Looks like memory issues.

Is that for Open GL?  I've got 16 GB of memory, so that really shouldn't be a problem.

Heya, plenty of memory that's for sure. The errors I quoted are probably what's sucking it all up. What platform are you on? 7 x64? This is basically gonna be the same fix recommendation I've been doing for everyone else with filename issues with the new releases. But first please post your bootleg.txt file from your main Game directory for us.

Then I can unfortunately only offer the following fix:
This is an issue with language versions and filenames, I think. Unfortunately this will require a full reinstall.

Reinstall completely (make sure everything is deleted from the game install folder) and use Kompass63's Registry tool before reinstalling ff7 and then using Kompass63 Game Converter .8b, Start the game to test it once after the Game Converter. Then install bootleg.

Frequently Asked Questions

I've completed Disc 1, but it keeps asking me to insert Disc 2 to continue.

Stealing this from the FAQ section of this thread too...

Download this tool: HERE
Open the UNLGP+LGP tool, point it to the FF7 data folder, and check the box for "Unlgp battle.lgp"
A new folder will have opened. Extract all the files from [Whiteraven AC Yuffie] into the folder and overwrite.
Repeat step 3, but this time instead, check the box for "Rebuild battle.lpg"
Hope that helps  :)

Piccolo113, anywhere from a couple weeks to a month and a half. There are always new mods.

I honestly had no idea that people were still making mods. That's awesome!

I always played FF7 on console, so the entirety of the modding community for FF7 is new to me. I didn't even know about this forum until Kotaku pointed it out in a bit about modding FF7.

Yes, the first thing I did was follow the steps on the FAQ segment as stated before. It did not resolve the issue. I am still unable to move past the Insert Disc 2 screen.

Oops, you did say that didn't you. :D Well... I'm guessing you did it right. Can you go back into the bootloader and double check your virtual drive settings?

I don't think it is the directory issue... that was from the Fort Condor mini game, which worked fine.  I've played a lot of sessions without mini games, which has been necessary because of the crashing.

I don't think it is the directory issue... that was from the Fort Condor mini game, which worked fine.  I've played a lot of sessions without mini games, which has been necessary because of the crashing.
K I follow your logic, and so does that log. Perhaps this is related to the Vsync Glitch near the beginning. You are forcing Vsync off with driver settings or? Idk, try to get rid of that glitch and see if it helps.

There's also a UNEXPECTED: zero count towards the beginning of the log just before hiwind.avi plays. No idea what that is. If the Vsync thing doesn't help I'd probably give the full uninstall with Kompass ff7registry key utility followed by reinstall and GameConverter .8 a shot, just because I wouldn't know what else to try. Not exactly a good reason but there you are.

If what I read in another post is true, Open GL has a memory leak that is causing the issue.  No fixes given.  Vsync is set to on with a refresh rate of 120 (my monitor supports that).  Vsync is being forced on through the nVidia drivers as well.

One more question in regards to the re-translation usage specifically for fixing the counter. Is the counter always broken without the re-translation installed?

The memory leak is there but you shouldn't be running into it. Can play this game all day on a good machine like yours. VSYNC isn't working properly according to your APP.log. If this is causing your problem, no idea.

No, but you need to reinstall Menu Overhaul by itself to fix it. And even then, there's still a couple of the non-essential ones that it won't fix. Some weird problem with ToughScript that I wouldn't be able to understand if I studied it for the rest of my life. Guessing Luksy fixed it already tho.

I'm going to do a clean install of FF7 and then use BFE only once this time around. I'll wait for the Re-Translation till they get the full-blown one finished. [CleverNameHere] pointed out that it's soon in the coming, so I can wait it out. If I finish my playthrough before the new translation comes out, then I'll just re-play the game :D

Actually yes, you have to install with ReTranslation to fix the counters window. It's a rather unfortunate bug that PitBrat says is fixed for the 040.1 patch. Until then, this is the only annoying way  :| That or wait for the final MO release, which very well could happen before the patch is even released.

Since I'm going for a fresh install of everything, I'll just play the game without Retranslation up till I get to the Mansion and have the ability to open the safe. I'll worry about the counter, then. I'm only at ShinRa HQ at the moment. Got a little bit to go, and I've got someone watching me play who reads a tad slower than I. There's a bit of time before I have to worry about waiting for patches and whatnot :D

Edit: [CleverNameHere] said that the final ReTranslation may be as little as a few weeks off....is there an ETA on Bootleg 040.1?

Let's work with what we have for now. PitBrat isn't as excited about working on it as he used to be. Maybe when some more things happen and some other projects get sorted out. Definitely not before the Re-translation is released and tested. I'd say 6 months before I'd even bother PB personally. What we have is pretty great already, and installing add on mods is simple enough once you give it a try or three.

I'm a little confused on how to unpack and repack character LGP files. Every time i manage to pull it off,  it keeps on crashing when ever i load my saves. Would it be possible if any could upload Kaldarasha's field and battle characters as a working LGP file?

The only reason we don't is because it violates the site's rules. Distributing encoded game files is close enough to piracy that we just steer clear.

I think some people recently said they liked using this tutorial.

I recommend using uLGP .5 GUI to unpack and pack the files.

I am currently working on a tutorial for it, but I'm lazy and it's turning into a study in procrastination.

If what I read in another post is true, Open GL has a memory leak that is causing the issue.  No fixes given.
If you find the post again show it to me please ...
I think the many "ERROR: GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY" are the right note.
Your video card retains too much data.
Try to turn off vbo and pbo, may this helps.
If not, try also cache off.
Last shaders off could also help you to save video ram.

Vsync is set to on with a refresh rate of 120 (my monitor supports that).  Vsync is being forced on through the nVidia drivers as well.
That could possibly be problems with some mini-games ...
The Vsync signal is then the timer and normally runs at 50Hz.
60Hz with modern televisions and monitors is still acceptable, but 120Hz ...
My recommendation, put the nVidia drivers so that the application can take control.

Yes, the first thing I did was follow the steps on the FAQ segment as stated before. It did not resolve the issue. I am still unable to move past the Insert Disc 2 screen.
Check if you have in the bootloader configuration for the tab "Plugins" mark "External Library" and there is also entered "Multi.dll".

Ok, I managed to get it working on my own!!! But there does seem to be a lighting difference between what i had before.

[Left New----------------- Right Old]

Is there a way i can add shading to the characters?

Oh man, I love this so much. Your side-by-side shows the difference between a shaded and an unshaded character. To me, the one on the left looks better not just because it has more polygons, but because the game engine's shading effect is working as intended, so the character is brighter. The one on the right has basically been shaded twice. This becomes super obvious with a shaded Barret, since he's dark by nature. To each his own, but most people who like the PRP look are moving to the new unshaded model types.

You have a nice rig, right? Do you run your monitor at 1080p? Try running the screen res in bootloader's main tab at 1920X1080 and the internal resolution in the bootloader "system" tab at 5120X3840 and then force anti-aliasing with your video drivers as high as it'l go; see if that takes care of some of those jaggies.

yeah, I see the extra modeled work on the characters which the left one shows much better form.  I now understand how the engine is supposed to work on the characters; I'm just trying to strike a balance between brightness levels to expose more of the hidden details, so things wont stick out so much. I'm up for the task to find that balance.

I'm currently running on a laptop; which runs at 1360X768 (with resizing enabled.) I'll see if i can put some multi-sampling later when i get a chance to. and as mentioned in my post before; I'm running on the 2012 PC Edition of FFVII (Unconverted.) which can run edited LGP files.

.....well it's about time i get some rest, it's way past 1 AM where i'm at. I'll reply when i get a chance to.
