I absolutely agree with that.

I however, want to dress up like Austin Powers. Actually, I would like to, but it probably won't happen.

Probably stay in my room, have some beer, and watch The Nightmare Before Christmas. Alone, unless I can convince that hot grad student to come over.

Sittin' around... look awesome, and nobody would know.  I'ma be Murphy Macmanus from The Boondock Saints.  I just have to dress normal, and use a sharpie to put Aequitas on my hand.

No idea what I'ma do in costume though

Don't forget the virgin mary tattoo on the neck.  Wooden cross necklace is pretty necessary, too.

I'm not gonna do the virgin mary tat, because that's gonna be much more of a pain to wash off.  The wooden cross, however, I don't think is necessary, because they're seen without them 90% of the time

I used to tell people I would trick-or-treat until I was too frail to walk. I mean, if you wear a mask, no one can tell how old you are. Maybe you're just tall for your age. Free food never gets old.

However, I then hit a time where parties quickly outranked candy on my priority scale. Maybe when I get too old to party, I'll go back to trick-or-treating. ( This year will still be a house party for me : )

Nobody really holds parties around here, well they do but usually whoever has them me and my friends want to kick the &!%@ out of them -_- So we party on the streets XD Cause we're awesome like that.

@Cupcake : Don't forget your gonna need to memorize the prayer, and try to "execute" someone while your outside with a Nerf gun, I bet that'll go well...

I convinced that hot grad student to come over. :)

Halloween is looking much better now. I may yet have to retract my statement in obesebear's "Best Month Ever" thread.

I also got a kickass costume idea. Gonna take a white t-shirt and a sharpie, write the letters "LB" in big, stylized letters, and be Low Budget man, proving once again that being poor is no hindrance to being awesome.

I don't have a pic of her yet. I have like 3 pics of myself, just not a photo guy.

But she's like eight years older than me, and I'm fairly certain she's interested in me, if I can nut up enough to make the first move. My 21 year single streak may be about to end soon.

@Cupcake : Don't forget your gonna need to memorize the prayer, and try to "execute" someone while your outside with a Nerf gun, I bet that'll go well...
And shepherds we shall be
For thee my lord for thee
Power hath descended forth from thy hand
That our feet may swiftly carry out thy command
So we shall flow a river forth to the
And teeming with souls shall it ever be
En Nomine Patri Et Filli
Et Spiritus Sancti

(that was from memory, I've had it memorized since the second time I saw the movie)

Another great movie prayer

The path, of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men.  Blessed is he, who in the name of charity, and good will, shepherd the weak, through the valley of darkness, for his is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children.  And I will strike down, with great vengeance, and furious anger, those, who attempt to poison, and destroy my brothers.  And you will know, my name is the LORD, when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Anyway, Covarr, at least you're better off than I am.  19, and the only real girlfriend I ever had, lost her virginity to a guy who wasn't her boyfriend (me being that boyfriend)... then she became a total whorebag... then a coke dealer, and now a mommy.  Still talk to her though, because we were young(er) and stupid...er...  So I hold no grudge against her, and we both feel we were heavily important to the development of the other's personality.  Goddamn though, the whole thing just makes me feel like shit to this day.  FuckI'mranting

Sucks dude...I thought you didn't even know her.   I've got a friend, a real stand up guy, who is 25 and only dated one girl.  She's 21 and they lasted 2 years, but he ended up ruining it.    Want to know why?

Because his standards are way too high, and because of that when their relationship started getting more and more serious he had no idea how to handle a lot of it.

If you've only asked out 7 chicks, I'm guessing you're probably in the same boat as him.   You need to start asking out girls that are in or below your league.  Then once you've learned how to be Mr. Smooth, you can start going for the girls you are REALLY interested in.  Plus you get to meet all kinds of people through your girlfriend.

P.S.  A pic of said hottie is still required

Standards too high? Doubt it. Pretty much my only standard is "willing to spend any amount of time not avoiding me." Since I've gotten to university over a month ago, there's only two people I'm even on a first name basis with, and she was one of them (the other is my roommate). It's not a matter of standards, it's a matter of being too shy IRL to even meet people, let alone ask them out.

Also:
Because his standards are way too high, and because of that
This is no "and". You're saying the same thing twice here.

Unless you're incredibly repulsive, I'd wager that people are much more willing to spend time with you than you think, and you're just not picking up the signals because you assume everyone hates you.

Did you only just start university? It took me about three months my freshman year before I got into a groove. So maybe you just need to give yourself time.

I used to be shy, then realized it got me nowhere and was generally a boring way to live life.   Unless you enjoy being shy, quit it.

I can't really read people, at all. I wouldn't at all be surprised if I was missing signals. However, I've also seen people irrefutably go out of their way to avoid me, on far too many occasions to ignore. I really don't know what it is I'm doing wrong, because I simply don't understand people.

But this is the Halloween topic. Let's talk about me less. Even if it were on-topic, it's unimportant; remember, it's just Covarr.

Sounds like a good plan! If you're ever in Australia, one of our spambots should be able to get you in contact with an agency.

And I'd rather keep my brain cells than be athletic, thank you very much  >:(

Wait? Do you think that playing sports kills braincells? No, no. Quite the opposite.

Unless the sport is professional boxing and you're not very good at it.

There, it is now fine to talk about Covarr in this thread

Now on to the subject matter.  Whether you can read people are not isn't all that matters.  Hell the girl I'm with now I couldn't read for the life of me, so I just made a move and turns out I didn't get slapped.   Sometimes you just gotta man up and get either a yes or no.  Gray area is no fun.

Covarr do you have Aspergers Syndrome?  Its a disorder on the high-functioning end of the Autism Spectrum of disorders.  Some sympoms include not being able to read/understand people, shyness (or lack of desire to interact with others), anxiety in social situations (often a result of ineffective communication early in life), and intense interest in certain subjects (FFVII? modding?) and rigid adherence to routines and static patterns of behavior.

If this is the case, then it may be significantly more difficult to interact with this lucky lady.  Us simply encouraging you may have little effect.  That's why a few pre-emptive beers might be in order.

Am I really that obvious? I don't generally like bringing up AS on the internet because some jackasses lie and claim to have it as an excuse to do whatever they want, and have kind of ruined it for folks who really do have it. But anyway, yes, I do, albeit not nearly as intense a case as the guy in the movie Adam.

Although, I did have a beer before I saw her last. Interestingly, there's something that sets her apart from other people, I don't know what it is, but I haven't had that much trouble interacting with her in general. Interacting effectively, maybe, but I generally feel uncomfortable around folks unless I've known them a long time, and I didn't feel like that around her. Probably a large part of the reason I was interested to begin with.

;D Well thats a good sign!  Oh that was a good movie, although his case was pretty severe.  The fact that you ae aleady moderately comfortable around her is always a good sign.  Assuming you don't make a complete ass of yourself, you should be able to foster that relationship.  Yeah, maybe it will take a little bit of time, but when you do finally feel compeltely comfortable (or as comfortable as possible heh) I'm sure she will have an excellent impression of you.  I mean, if the Covarr that doesn't have a face and communicates with text lives inside the IRL you, then success is inevitable.  Also, she will probably be able to tell that your not just interested in getting laid, which obviously is a good thing.  Keep us updated (if you want).
Title: Re: Halloween topic/Covarr topic
Post by: Covarr on 2010-10-30 19:00:29
Yeah, it's obvious she can tell I'm not just interested in getting laid. The thing is, I know she enjoys spending time around me, she said that I have a way of cheering her up, and that she feels like I'm one of the only people she can really open up to. She also said that she wants to stay friends partly because if we became romantically involved and it didn't work out then she could lose me as a friend too, and doesn't want that (also partly the age gap, would be kinda weird).

The thing is, I suspect she is interested in me, and either doesn't realize it, or is for some reason afraid to admit it. But I really would rather not push things after getting an answer, at least not for a long while, for fear of making things worse.

Of course, I could also be misinterpreting her words, or only remembering the part I want to.

From what you're saying you sound either friend-zoned or dangerously close.
1.  Get her to go out with you somewhere tonight, hang out in crowds..whatevs, but make sure at some point you have at least 20 minutes alone with her.

2.  Since you have trouble with relationships and the back and forth of thingsI'd just be straight up with her about being interested.

3. ???

4. Profit

Yes, friendzoned. That's kinda what I've been saying, if you reread my post on page 1.

1. No can do. I barely see her once a week, since she's got too much schoolwork to do. Last night was procrastination time, so now she has to get schoolwork done.
2. Already was straight up, last night.

Might sound kinda corny. But I would recommend you bring her a book!. Chocolates if you don't know what she likes, with one red rose.

Nobody brings this kinda stuff anymore it proves that your different from the rest, and she's special to you. Worse thing that could happen is you get the wrong book, but she will knows you are thinking about her.

I probably wouldn't listen to Obesebear (not that its not great advice, but I think the context is a lot different) in this matter lol, you said she is 26 year old grad student.  You also say you are legitmately interested in her as a person, so you are thinking long-term.  I understand your desire to tread lightly, but don't really have too much to offer.  Be weary of listening to others though, we have little or no pertinent info about this woman (it seems evident shes not a girl).  We all know Covarr is a great guy, but without knowing something about this female, I'm not sure any advice has a guarantee attached to it.

Mako has the right idea, unless she is illiterate (probably not), or allegic to chocolate and pollen.  A relationship can only go so far when passive interaction is the main component.  Proactive communication of your true feelings will eventually (if it isn't already) be necessary.  But like you said, she may be afraid of ruining a good friendship.

No, she's 29, 8 years older than me (21).

Well, I don't know when I'll see her again, since her schedule has always been kinda spotty, but I think the best course of action at this point is to not think about it too much, stop planning, and really just see what happens. Thank you everyone for the advice and support.

Holy hell, that party looks much more fun than the one I went to.

I know it's already after Halloween, but this made the perfect Halloween ghost story. read it/watch the videos with fellow geeks at night in the dark: http://inuscreepystuff.blogspot.com/2010/09/majora.html

Pretty decent story.  Didn't read every word, but gave it a good look.  YOUR TURN

I loved this creepy pasta and the vids that the guy made and it was pretty well done methinks. I was watching them as they came out and was following the story really carefully, always anxious for him to post his next vid.

I remember taking screen captures of his other vids to show my friend that the tags on his other videos changed to random creepy words related to Ben, and after that I read something along the lines of "don't save anything related to this, I don't know how he's able to spread" and then my friend and I started freaking out and he wanted to get his computer exorcised or something. XD
