Hey, what weird, odd stuff have you encountered during your FF7 experience? I'll start... It's sometimes weird how when certain monsters (e.g. Beach Plug) have Enemy Skills or certain attacks that they don't really use at all. In this example, it has "Big Guard" but never casts it for their defense. :-o
-
This looks promising but has been done many times.
Lemme think...
I find it strange that there are some areas of the game that seem to lead somewhere but do not (such as the area after the ancient forest with an unseen and inaccessible cave)
I also find it strange that the game can run all of the story with just one disc (though the fmv's will be out of order)
I also find it strange that the curse ring accessory was so hard to find (who the hell checks a random plank for a key and then tries it on a random door?)
What else....
Oh, I find it strange that the items "handkerchief" and "masamune" are awarded but are completely unusable...
-
Oh! And don't forget those 1/32 Shinra Soldier things!!
-
Oh yeah, and there was something about the sweeper machine parts or something.
And the hidden materia. man do i wish they added holy, aero, and water
-
If some guy told me how to "Save on the world map", I'd be very afraid. But this is a video game, so it's okay.
http://www.ff7-universe.com/ - Click on "Strange + Unusual". A load of things are mentioned there, though it appears that Emperor Steele lost interest in keeping track of things after Corel Prison.
-
I also like how it mentions Texas at Tifa's bar... like on the signs and stuff. xD.
Where is Texas in the world of FF7...?
And Barret throws the money to Cloud for the reactor job with his gun arm... That TAKES skills. xD.
-
Of course, don't forget infamous Test 0 only available for original Japanese version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxYBDikspc4).
-
On ff7 universe, the fourth point under Costa del Sol... anyone know what Emperor Steele is implying there?
One thing I'd like to mention: When Sephiroth burns down Nibelheim and goes to the reactor to "meet his mother", he's basically like "I've finally found you. You were superior to the humans, but they took the Promised Land from you... but do not worry, because I'm here with you now. We will go together to the Promised Land and take revenge on the Planet!"
But then he just slices off her head? What is his problem!?

Im pretty sure that thing he pulled off was not her head. but some part of the machinery. I think she was in the tank behind the thing he pulled off
-
No no, it was definitely her head. It's more visible in Crisis Core and in last order, and you can see that it's a head if you view it in Kimera. Also, Jenova's headless next time the party encounters her, so it makes sense... from that perspective.
Jenova SYNTHESIS is supposed to be Jenova's head morphed into something more monstrous.
Proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZiz86LdeiE) (at 2:30).
-
I can explain the whole head being chopped off deal:
He DID pull off this machanichal angel thing in front of jenova's tube because it was in the way. But more to the point:
Sephiroth was going to simply free jenova but he was injured by cloud when he stabbed him from behind in a fit of rage (refer to the mideel lifestream part of the game)
Because of his injury he couldn't drag jenova's mostly lifeless body (she had been "dead" for a long time) so he simply cut off her head and took her with him knowing that her body would eventually follow him anyway.
He was probably going to take her entire body with him but as he was injured and limping away, he couldn't
And FYI: the body was at shinra because hojo expected the reunion to happen wherever jenova was, which it didn't.
-
Very interesting
-
Xelane is right. Hojo himself said (I think it was at the Northern Crater (beginning of Disc 2) that the Reunion was a mere hypothesis that was to be taken place at the Shinra Building because of Jenova's corpse, but eventually didn't happen because Sephiroth brought the head back to the Shinra Building and Jenova went loose and wreaked havoc all over the place.
-
Well the shinra massacre was done by jenova DEATH masquarading as sephiroth (possibly acting like a surrogate body) and I think jenova's head was at the crater due to the fact that sephiroth "died" with it in his possession.
And yeah Hojo did say that early into disc 2 before Weapon were released.
(I have played this game too many times, I can remember beating it at least 50 times literally)
A new mystery to me: why did they make sephiroth's sword ridiculously long? and while on the subject: how did he enter buildings with it and where was it when he wasn't holding it?
-
@Xelane: Concerning your second-to-last post, I had thought of that, except... Sephiroth, at that point, believed Jenova to be an Ancient. Did he have any idea about the Jenova Reunion Theory? He knew about the "calamity from the skies" that had killed all of the Ancients, but he didn't know that the calamity was Jenova.
Concerning your last post: At one point in Dissidia, Sephiroth is seen pulling his sword out of nowhere*. He can probably make it vanish into thin air as well. Though that's in Dissidia and not in the original FF7. Still, there's no other explanation. And I think they made the sword so long to make him more intimidating and unique in his own way. And it did really work to help make Sephiroth the iconic figure that he now is.
*Here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7A2HiqV2c8) <---(And in regards to that vid, at first I thought Cloud said "What I want most... is to find myself!" o_O (That bit's at the end.))
I'll follow up on your point, though. Sephiroth uses his sword very irresponsibly. He just leaves it in Tifa's father's body after he kills him. What if Zack were the one to pick it up and not Tifa? The risks this guy takes... He also leaves it in President Shinra, but is seen with it later. (He probably encountered the Midgar Zolom in the marshes and thought "Crap, where's my sword?" and had to go back to get it )
Finally, in FFVIIAC (and in ACC), after Cloud defeats Kadaj, Kadaj's blade is seen falling down the side of a building. Yet he mysteriously gets it back when Sephiroth dissipates.
-
About the length, one of the longest known Japanese sword is:
http://japantrip.tripod.com/nodachi/norimitsu.html
-
HO-LY Moses!! :-o :-o If you can wield that thing, you're strong enough to "take revenge on the Planet" for sure!!
So what did they use that for? Reaping the fields during harvesting season in ten seconds?
-
I think that most of the mysteries ITT can be explained by saying that the world of FF7 doesn't have the same laws of physics as our own :-P (and it doesn't; magic can be used, after all)
Maybe Sephiroth's sword is magic? Maybe he carries it in his bag in infinite holding (something that almost all video games have; where else would the characters hold all of their equipment? :-D).
-
That's something I tend not to think about, but you're right. There seems to be an invisible and massive stash that the characters can individually dig into, pulling stuff out of air whenever they want. If those 99 Potions, Hi-Potions, Ethers, Hero Drinks, Phoenix Downs, and all that other stuff were being physically carried around, surely their journey around the world would take a heck of a lot longer :| And then they wouldn't have been able to stop Meteor in time.
-
If I remember correctly Odadchis where used by footmen against cavalry. They would cut through the man and the horse.
-
So here're a few things in Midgar I noticed:
#1. When Tifa joins the party, she leaves a 4-year-old in charge of her bar while she's out. This is the slums of Midgar! Some of them say how dangerous it is. I think the worst thing for a four-year-old to do is tend bar.
#2. Immediately before that scene, the gang "rest up for the night" (or something), and in less than 20 mins are at the reactor 5. Then Cloud crashes through the church and takes Aeris to her home. Her mother mentions it's too late (at night) to go to Wall Market and suggests staying the night! Cloud couldn't have been falling for more than 30 seconds and apparently wasn't unconscious for more than a few minutes. Yet it's apparently almost night only a few minutes from the previous morning!
#3. Cloud survives the fall. But he IS in SOLDIER....
#4. There is no number fo...... oh, wait, there is. When the gang get to the pillar after battling Aps, Cloud elects Aeris to help Wedge. Tifa then asks her to get Marlene to safety. I see two odd things about this:
4.1: Why didn't Tifa just say to Cloud "I'll look after him, I have to get Marlene"
4.2: Somehow, Aeris was able to get Marlene from the bar to her house AND get caught by Shinra by the time Cloud and Tifa join Barret at the top of the pillar. Maybe she has what it takes to be in SOLDIER after all. :D
*Crisis Core Spoiler!!*
#5. EX POST FACTO break here. Zack and Cloud fell from two completely different places about five years apart, yet both landed on the same spot (probably through the same hole). Aeris doesn't even mention this to Cloud. She doesn't find it odd that the guy she liked and probably had a crush on fell through the roof of the building she was in, then about five years later, some completely different guy WITH THE SAME MONSTROUS SWORD she last saw Zack with falls through the EXACT SAME HOLE and she doesn't say a word about Zack to Cloud?!!?
*End Spoiler!*
Gongaga releated
#6. You can completely pass Gongaga and not even know it's there. I did that on a recent playthrough. Really! I completely forgot it existed!
#7. If you DO go to Gongaga, Cloud states he believes there's a spy because the Turks were there before him. Did he forget about meeting them at the mythril caves?! Why didn't he think there was a spy then? The obvious "culprit" at that moment would have been Red XIII. Anyway, he then says "I trust everyone" despite Cait Sith being new (assuming you immediately came from Gold Saucer).
#7A. Vincent also has lines for this scene. So you can get him before this. I think this scene is available anytime before you get the Tiny Bronco. Cait Sith's line regardless reads thus:
{CAIT SITH}
“You don't think there's a spy,
do you {CLOUD}?â€
{NEW PAGE}
“I hate this.
Now everyone's gonna blame me
because I'm new.â€
-taken from Loveless
If you have Vincent, he's no longer "the new guy" anymore.
Cosmo Canyon:
#8. Bugenhagen says Red XIII is 48 years old, his parents died when he was very young (we'll assume between 5 and 10 so he can remember the battle and come to the conclusion that his Father abandoned the tribe). Yet, now, of all times, Bugenhagen FINALLY decides to let him know what happened to his father?! Why didn't you tell him immediately after?!
#8A. Apparently Seto and Red's mother told Bugenhagen to seal the cave and not tell anyone what happened here. Huh?! Why not?!!?! Did they want their little cub to assume that daddy ran away instead of being killed/petrified in defense of the tribe?
#8Ai. How can Seto tell Bugenhagen to seal the cave if he's petrified?
#8B. He sheds tears (supposedly) at the end of the scene. Why did no one say: "HE'S ALIVE!!! QUICK! GET SOME SOFT AND CAST FULLCURE THAT'S SITTING AT THE BACK OF THE ITEM SHOP!!!"
#9. Red XIII is a big liar. Bugenhagen didn't "zip out"
#10. Some NPC says:
“Wh…who are you?
You…can't just come barging
into my home uninvited!!â€
It never stopped them before or after. :)
Nibelheim:
#11. A little later in the game, but Shinra has some amazing recon records of Nibelheim. Enough to recreate Tifa's room with all her personal effects still in it! Piano, fine. But secret stashes of gil and materia? Nice attention to detail there!
#12. Zangan. Strange that he has 128 students in the world and we never meet any of them. Oh well.
Rocket Town
#13.
“Everyday‚ [the rocket] tilts a little bit more.â€
Yet in the flash back, it shows that the rocket hasn't moved since it initially tilted. Not to mention the entry way to it looks pretty level.
#14. The rockets fired in the flashback. If Cid's to be believed, Shera should have flash-fried when that happened. Yet even after they make it into space later in the game, she was in that room (or close to it) when it took off.
#15. Why does Shinra want the Tiny Bronco anyway? It's not like they don't have air ships! I mean, it's called the TINY Bronco for a reason!
OK, I've officially wasted too much time on this. I've got to do other things. ;)
-
so many questions....I haz answers but....theres SO many of them!
-
Does anyone know who Emperor Steele is talking about when he says the guy in the Costa Del Sol inn looks like someone?
-
Thanks for seconding the question I asked earlier that never got answered :-)
I'll see if I can find his NPC in Kimera...
EDIT: No luck. Can't rely on Scorpicus's char tutorial and list for everything, I guess...
I did, however, find someone (http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/finalfantasy7/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-43264884&pid=197341&page=0) who thought that the innkeeper at Costa del Sol looked a bit like Zack.
Anyway, he can be seen in this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkmerDnbwFw) at 3:25. He looked a bit like Hojo to me... but Hojo's down at the beach scoring with the bikini chicks, so it can't possibly be him.
-
I also got one! Notice Johnny, Tifa's friend that lives in the Sector 7 slums. Wow, he in unusually rich for someone to be living in the slums! He travels alot doesn't he? I mean, making it to the Honey Bee Inn, and then you spot him again living in a nice cabana out in Costa Del Sol with his mistress. WOW. What is his job to be spending alot of money on traveling and buying a nice house?!
-
Lol he happens to be wherever tifa is.
"omg what are you doing here (i think its working!), yea i love your battlescarred look....extreme"
-
Battlescarred indeed... ever seen a kinky, slutty-looking bartender traveling around the world without ever changing her clothes and beating up everything that gets in her way?
And why does Cloud still wear his SOLDIER uniform while opposing Shinra? As a runaway, wouldn't he be less noticeable in ordinary clothing? Vincent dresses strangely as well. If you saw a man in a dark red cape and long black hair wearing a golden clawed gauntlet, wouldn't it freak you out?
And what's up with the giant living stuffed toy and the talking canine creature following these people around? Seriously, for fugitives, they're not inconspicuous at all.

I would like to know how Red XIII managed to get away with dressed up like a sailor
-
It's also funny in the Corel flashback (the first one that Barret mentions) the dog is chasing the cat. Then, the kid is chasing the dog and cat. And then the cat and dog are chasing the kid!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPC63tqNCp4
It starts at 8:53.
-
I noticed that on my second playthrough
And you'd think that Heidegger's men would catch Red XIII going through, wouldn't you? I suppose the Shinra Executives' stupidity is contagious.
By the way, after you defeat Palmer, he gets hit by a truck. One would think that he dies, right? It would be a good, Darwinian, satisfying end  Yet he survives. He has dialogue while the rocket is taking off (the part of the game where you get a Huge Materia).
-
That's true! Palmer does have dialogue after he dies... he *does* die though, or get relinquished of his duties since towards the end of the game scarlet and heidegger mention that they're the only ones left in charge of shin-ra.
-
The Revenge of Palmer! His ghost's voice is heard through a speaker inside the rocket saying "MWAHAHAA!!! I owe you own for killing me, so I'm going to launch the rocket and blow you all to hell!"
-
And then he adds "With lotsa sugar and honey! Oh and don't forget the lard!"
-
Yeah, they made sure Palmer would be fat for a reason. He's just disgusting...
Yet he's fit enough to jump about four feet into the air from a sitting position while at a conference in the Shinra Building.
-
Lol. And somehow "thin" enough to be hidden from Sephiroth during the demise of President Shinra. :-o
-
Sephiroth would've let him live as a witness anyway, so that Cloud would know that it was indeed him who slaughtered all of the Shinra personnel and that he is still alive.
-
I also find it weird and odd that no one seems to be annoyed by Bugenhagen's "Ho Ho Hooooo!" line that he uses all the time!
-
Someone ought to do a Christmas spoof using Loveless.
"Ho ho hooooo!! Merry Christmas!!! Cloud! You've been a BAD BOY this year!! You killed... *checks list* ... 3,426 people while power-leveling to get Fire3 in Midgar!! No presents for you this year! Ho ho hoooo!"
And let's see... Tifa gets boob reducers, Aerith gets life insurance (100,000 gil at the end of Disk 1), Red XIII gets a chew toy, Barret gets nothing 'cause he's a terrorist, Yuffie gets the Super Nova materia, Cait Sith gets a new litter box, and if you revisit Cosmo Canyon later on, Cid gets nicotine patches and Vincent gets a new Halloween costume.
[/off-topic]
By the way... HOW did Rufus transport that enormous Sister Ray from Junon to Midgar? Did he hire Dio to carry it on his shoulders?
-
And just why did the Shinra needed HUGE material in the first visit to Gongaga? Yes, to build an ultimate weapon but why would they want that? They were already the leading organization at the time. :-o
-
Because Scarlet is excessively power-hungry for no reason. Like Kefka.
-

Reminds me GarlandtheGreat's 'messing up FF7 with cheat codes' clips(especially like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7eETiM3Ykc) or this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHjwjVUW0yk)). :-D

Is there some way of getting that white chocobo in the game?
Normally, no. With cheat code, yes, but you may see this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baNJdEKtu1w).

Wow, I would love to walk around as Diamond Weapon on the world map
-
Wow, I would love to walk around as Diamond Weapon on the world map
If you are serious it is not really that hard to do
-
Probably not, but I haven't got enough time to do a lot of modding atm. Real life and its demands... :-( These forums have become a place for procrastination for me.
What doesn't make sense is that Sephiroth is invulnerable in the Kalm flashback, yet Safer Sephiroth (his ultimate form in the game) will even take damage from Fire. Even after his famous scene of walking through the flames at Nibelheim unharmed.
I also find it quite unsettling that Sephiroth has absolutely no dialogue after Cloud discovers his true identity. He is absolutely speechless.
One more thing: That scene where Tifa and Scarlet get into a catfight on top of the the Sister Ray... comical as that was, why didn't Tifa just go LIMIT BREAK and blast her off the edge of the cannon?
-

 You made my day man! Aerith gets life insurance for christmas. :-D I would like getting that from santa myself lol.
And concerning the boat trip. Heidegger gets scolded because no one noticed Cloud, Sephiroth and the rest... HELLO! They were standing right outside the boat for 10 minutes after arriving at costa, chatting 'bout tans. Rufus and Heidegger conveniently enters the scene right after they leave too lol.
Later in the game you can transport the buggy across the continents without anyone noticing...
After digging up the sector 5 key, Cloud and the gang isn't exactly nice to the guy who lost it. Not only do they not return it, they let that poor fella hanging there, probably starving to death.
Concerning ff8 (a bit off topic, but this scene is seriously annoying me): When the SeeD team are on the "assassinate Edea" job at the end of disc 1, Quistis has just bean a bit mean towards Rinoa. After arriving at their location (where they're supposed to trap Edea), not only does Quistis regret being mean to Rinoa, she actually leaves her post to say how sorry she is. And the parade is just about to start. Not only that, Zell and Selphie decides to her... WTF? As far as they're concerned she's grounded; not going anywhere. Why not wait 'till the whole ordeal eventually finishes? And to top it all of, when they arrive at Rinoa's, and get locked in, they don't know how to get out... Windows anyone? The house is literately packed with windows. No,we can't smash any windows. Her father will be pissed.
And why would they need 3 man squad to pull a switch anyway? This scene makes no sense.
-
Another thing I'd like to add to the weird things is the animations for all 9 characters for the use of magic or enemy skills is funny.
-
Cloud grabs an imaginary ball, barret throws something straight up into the air, tifa pushes the air, sephiroth combs his fingers through his hair, vincent raises then lowers his arms, cid makes a spiral with his arm, nanaki just howls, Reeve points with his megaphone, and yuffie holds her shuriken up high.
What would YOU do if you could use magic?
-
POINT! LOL :-D
Na. That would be too original.
You forgot Aeris (Aerith) btw.
-
Hmmm I got pissed off at Square for creating all the rumors to this game. You know they're behind it all! Like "Zack" in the slums, with that tatoo on him who doesn't feel well. Actually all of the things concerning Zack, finding him, etc. Haha.
-

Lol. I've never heard of that rumor. Nor would I have ever thought that to be true even if I heard. I wonder what other rumors have been made.
-
Ya its said that when you go into the pipe in the slums, and there is a bed there with a guy mumbling Re...un....iom..... or something like that, its supposed to be Zack. And the guy outside the door says something like " Oh he hasn't been feeling well, he's been away for a long time, he's new, blah blah blah" some silly thing like that, and its "Zack." Whether they meant it to be him or for it to symbolize him or whatever, its just random stuff. Also I've heard the game originally decided you could bring back Aeris (Aeris :-D) and Zack, but they took it out. Idk I haven't messed around too much with the Debug Room but I hear it has some interesting stuff haha.
-
Well it couldn't have obviously been Zack because he never got Mako addiction. Lol. I also heard about the Aeris thing but that of course is obviously a failure! :-D
-
Here's a great website (http://ff7rumors.tripod.com/) if you want to see some FF7 rumors :-)
Under monsters, there's a rumor about fighting Bugenhagen, and even one about fighting Meteor. There is also a rumor under misc. that says it is possible to view a hentai scene between Cloud and Tifa during the credits.
-
Have any of you guys fought Cheese Weapon yet?
-
Yeah, I fought him once! I even tried to take screenshots and a video, but fighting cheese weapon instantly fries your hard drives beyond any state of repair, so I lost my data.

Hell yeah, I've fought Cheese Weapon. Here's the vid:

You know what's also messed up? Why are there 4 Enemy Skill materias out there? You can only have 3 to a party in battle...
-
One of them is missable but you can always get 3.
-
Missable? Which of the four? Must be... The elevator where the samples are held?
-
That's the one.
It's also possible to miss Trine on the fourth Enemy Skill materia if you fight Gogo before getting the airship, which is really annoying. By the time you get the fourth Enemy Skill materia, Gogo is too easy.
But yeah, four Enemy Skill materias... I always thought that was strange as well.
Something else I just thought up... the "hidden" element. It's weird enough that it exists, but what's even weirder is that there is only one hidden-elemental attack, and it is used exclusively by Ultimate Weapon (it was called Ultima Beam, if I recall correctly). I'm thinking that was done unintentionally...
-
Actually, if you look on it from a technical perspective, it makes perfect sense. Element data takes up half of one byte, so it can have a range of 1 to 16 (0000 to 1111 in binary). The normal elements, plus the 'weapon' elements (shoot, punch, etc.) make up a grand total of 15. That leaves a single unassigned value, which is the hidden element. When something in-game isn't assigned an element, it by default takes element 16 (F in hex). If the 'non elemental' flag isn't turned on, that means it has the 'hidden' element. This is presumably why materia that don't have elemental properties set grant 'hidden' when used with the Elemental materia.
-

But then there are FIVE physical attack elements. I can see some enemies being more vulnerable to certain types of hits (which is probably what the developers intended), but that seems like a waste of space to me. I think the "Hidden" element was never really meant to be used and is just an accident or a testing element that never got removed from all attacks. Maybe even a "stand-in" element for non-HP attacks that got dummied out.
-
Perhaps early on in development, Square proposed that different weapons might be more effective against certain enemies, as you suggest. Hard to imagine how that would actually be implemented, though. After all, does a bullet hurt a cat more than a bird?
-
Ok. I've no idea what you guys are talking about.
-
Very few foes are weak versus certain weapons. I think there's a monster in the sewers (after the Aps battle) who has a "never miss" weakness against... the "Hit" element, I think it was (people who've used the Hojo and WM editors should be able to understand me here). Apart from that one monster, there are more with weapon weaknesses, but like... two or three more. It's a really minor detail that they just decided to throw into the game, apparently.
The element on Cid's weapons is "Punch". Shouldn't that be on Tifa's weapons? Tifa's weapons have got the "Hit" element.
Minor, minor, minor strange detail I thought I'd bring up.
-
Oh, you mean, like in gjoerulv's hardcore mod; Jenova BIRTH is weak against "Cut." That would be Cloud's cue to attack. Right?
-
Yeah, exactly. I think there are other Cut attacks...
-
One thing that I really don't get is that conversation you can listen to in the door to the right in the Honeybee Inn. The one where you can hear thunder bolts every once in a while. o_o It kinda creeped me out.
-
Wasn't it president Shinra being kinky or something?
-
Was it? I don't know how I was supposed to come to that conclusion. :P
Here's another bizarre thing: there are rarely any bathrooms in any houses, except in rocket town, every single house has one. o.o
-
well having a rocket ready to fall over in yer town must make you need to his the john a little more often o.o, that and all teh stress in shinra hq... they have bathrooms.... one
-
With a vent allowing you to spy on people on it....
-
And within that vent, you can smell the shit flowing through there in the conference room, lol.
-
lol I always thought that when Scarlet said "Something stinks" at the end of the conference, she was smelling odors coming from Tifa and/or Barret  That was until I started talking to the NPCs on one of my playthroughs, and it occurred to me then that the vent is connected to a toilet cubicle.
-
I thought she meant Barret, lol. Since he has a gun-arm that's probably stained with blood and gun powder, lol.
-
I always wondered if barret's stump ever got bloody, u know, carrying around a rather heavy (likely steel) gatling gun
-
I'm pretty sure it did. Hmm. You should alter your Barret so it has bloodstains on it, lol. Na. Too unoriginal there. :|
-
I always wondered if barret's stump ever got bloody, u know, carrying around a rather heavy (likely steel) gatling gun
When hes a man of steel himself? :-P
-

I think he meant someone else's blood on there. :-P

See I always thought she was talking about Heidegger myself haha. He really is a fat bastard!
-

You trying to say that she was trying to say that he farted? LOL
-
Or maybe one of the avalanche gang let one rip. They were just above the conference room.
-
I know i would
-
I think if an AVALANCHE member farted in the vent, it would resound throughout the entire building through the ventilation system. I can imagine a whole office building of business people looking up at the ceiling and thinking, "What was that!?"
-

LOL! This guy makes me laugh!! Yeah, just imagine -- President Shinra making a speech and then all of a sudden a loud, flatulence (from Barret, yes, blame it on the big, black man ) just sounds over the entire building. LOL!
-

And just imagine what will happen when people find out that the giant fart actually came from Aeris
(it's a little known fact that she has a lot of wind)

Also, I didn't know that you can obtain the red submarine! Wow. I didn't know that, is there a video of anyone obtaining it?
-
You can get the red sub? I never knew that.. I need to get it this play through haha :-D
-
I'm surprised by the number of people who didn't know you could get the red sub; I got it on my first playthrough.
It's easier to get than the silver one, so people should really be asking for advice on how to get the silver sub :-D
-
i forgot what color my sub was, i wanna say green, How do you get the silver one? Hell how do you get both? haha
-
I believe they only come in red and silver, unless I've missed something :?
And you can't have both at the same time, if that's what you meant. :-P
-
According to a video on YouTube, you can only get the red submarine if you FAIL to take it down. I think that's how it was... Was it KM? And something about shooing the dog that is the floor after the elevator in Junon.
-
Nah, just curious how i got it, I guess i got the silver one though, Dunno why but i remember it as green haha
-
According to a video on YouTube, you can only get the red submarine if you FAIL to take it down. I think that's how it was... Was it KM?
I think that's how you get it; I quite certain that I failed the sub minigame when I first played FF7 and that's why I got the red sub. I've won it every time since, so I now get the silver sub.
-
I never got the red sub because I never figured out how to "lose" at the sub game. :P
Just keep firing torpedoes and you'll win.
-
I only found out a few years ago that you could get the red one, i just assumed that when you lost you had to restart the mission.
-
Same here, i assume that about all minigames haha
-
ya, the red sub is kinda hard to get considering the sub game plays itself. You also lose out on the large materia, so it's not really worth it just to get the red sub. They're exactly the same.
-
So, if you fail to get the huge materia and end up getting the red sub, then that means that you will NOT get Bahamut ZERO! :x
-
If you don't get Bahamut ZERO from a Huge Materia, then you can dig him up in Bone Village by searching a certain spot. The chances of getting him are a little slim though, so you will probably have to retry several times.
So yeah, if you only get three of the Huge Materia, you still have a chance to get Bahamut ZERO and, later on, Master Summon.

Wow. I didn't know that. I thought once you fail, that's it! No more Bahamut ZERO. :-o

WOW! Nice! Thanks for that image obesebear. :-)
-
I never knew the selection of things you could find at Bone Village was so limited, I always though it worked more like Angelo from FF8, with a couple surefire items built in.
-
Anyone mentioned that Barret is the only black guy in the game (except some other npcs)? And where was he born? Where do black people in FF7 come from?
-
Where ever there isn't money.
The slums, Corel post-destuction, desert prison, also notice that all of the bandit enemies appear to be black.
Just sayin'. :-P
-
There are actually quite a lot of black people in FF7, by the standards of FF, at any rate (which isn't a surprise, as most FF games have a pseudo-mediaeval European setting), although I'd never noticed before that most of the black people in FF7 do come from poorer areas.
Amongst the named characters, there is also Rude and Kotch (one of Don Corneo's henchmen) and Mr Coates (the boss down in Corel prison)
-
haha, oh Rude... I feel like he's 50% Black, 50% Puerto Rican, and 50% cool
Does anyone else find it bizarre how lonely of a guy Kotch is if you talk to him when Aerith gets picked for the don corneo STD-party? Kinda makes you feel bad for the guy and like he's not really a bad guy at all and just a misconstrued individual making a living however he can. Whereas Scotch is the "evil" one, who tries to gangrape then (after that fails) tries to kill Cloud. I feel like there's a whole story there in the dynamic between the two. Kotch is the tough looking guy who's gentle at heart, and Scotch is that anime-esque character who looks like your typical "megane" (tr: four-eyes) but actually has a cunning, heartless demeanor.
...I should shut up now before Square reads this and makes another crappy spinoff that I'm going to buy.
-
I always thought rude was tanned, not black :?
Anyone notice how in the Coral flashback Scarlet is shooting without a gun?
-
I always thought rude was tanned, not black :?
It's very hard to tell in FF7, since the faces aren't very detailed :|
Anyone notice how in the Coral flashback Scarlet is shooting without a gun?
Pfft, she's head of the Weapons department, isn't she?
Perhaps she has some tiny, disguised James Bond-style gun that you can't see very well from a distance :-D
-
You know, the "pretending to have weapons" thing is one of the only things i don't like about FF7.
lol@ just before you fight the big arm thingy and cloud "gets his sword out" to attack reno
...we really should do something about that
...although, come to think of it, stuff like that was what made FF7 what it is :P
-

You know what I think is funny? You ever noticed that the 1st Class SOLDIER unit is worth about 960 exp each, and the 2nd Class SOLDIER unit is worth about 1000 exp each. I bet nobody ever noticed that, lol. I find it hilarious though... I guess the 1st Class soldiers aren't as valuable as the 2nd Class soldiers. :D
-
I find it laughable that people actually believe Cloud when he tells them that he is a 1st class SOLDIER. His ability is nothing of the sort until you train him to it.
Angeal, Genesis, Sephiroth, and maybe Zack should all be given a special rank within SOLDIER. 1st class doesn't quite do them justice.
Speaking of Sephiroth... WHY did Lucrecia sleep with Hojo?? :?
-
cuz she slept with everyone hojo... vincents dad... vincent mayb?
-
Yeah. Those three DID deserve a higher ranking than 1st class because they were under the Jenova project. (Oh wait, this wasn't confirmed until they disappeared... Nvm.)
And yeah! Hojo is a pretty disgusting man. Nerdy scientist; and if Lucrecia is as beautiful as she sounds (and by the way Vincent makes her sound)... YUK!! Lol.
-
Based on her picture in her Final Fantasy Wiki article, she's is quite attractive (by video game standards). She could do better than Hojo, definitely.
Someone should've told Sephiroth in the game that he is not the son of a powerful alien... actually, he's the son of a whore who slept with everybody

I think he'd go mad once again. He would be like "I'd rather be a monster than to think that my mother's been the wrong... Well, mother this whole time!"
-
He doesn't know that Hojo is his father either, and he hates Hojo. Poor thing...
Here are a few questions: After the party defeats Safer Sephiroth, how do they all end up at the ledge at the top of that big green pit thing leading to the Planet's Core? How did the rest of the party get to the area where everyone fought Bizarro Sephiroth? Why did Sephiroth remove his shirt for his final mental confrontation with Cloud?
-
Speaking of Sephiroth... WHY did Lucrecia sleep with Hojo?? huh
I suspect there's a clue in the name. Lucrece/ Lucretia was a demi-fictional* Roman noblewoman, raped by the power-mad tyrant Sextus Tarquinus. Feeling ashamed and desperately wishing to avoid birthing the child, she killed herself. Make the connections to Lucrecia as you will.
* It's complicated.
-
What about how Vincent got his new clothes?
Hojo shot him and experimented on him when he was still dressed like a turk, many years later, and suddenly he has a pseudo vampire outfit on!
I doubt Hojo would splurge on a decent looking outfit, so where did vincent get it?
-
Why did Sephiroth remove his shirt for his final mental confrontation with Cloud?
well that fight is in Cloud's mind, so one can assume that cloud tends to think of Sephiroth topless :P
-
well that fight is in Cloud's mind, so one can assume that cloud tends to think of Sephiroth topless :P
Hmm, then perhaps that raises some questions on Cloud's thoughts exactly. :-P
-
Or MAYBE, Sephiroth is using his Jenova powers to make Cloud think of him as topless, and Cloud is just sitting there going "MAKE IT STOP!!"
-
that prove why people made a lot yaoi of Cloud and Sephiroth :-D
-

Ha! I like that assumption. Better than saying that Cloud's not really all that into women. :-P

I just assumed vincent's getup was just his turk outfit + blood soaked sheets.
That's pretty badass, he's wearing sheets colored with his own blood.
-
That's pretty badass, he's wearing sheets colored with his own blood.
But what about that yellow glove thing he wears that looks like a claw? Or is it an actual claw?
-
I'm pretty sure it's an ordinary (maybe ordinary isn't the word, but you get what I mean) gauntlet.
Here's a question... maybe this is explained in one of the FF7 games I haven't played but... WHY is there a coffin in the Shinra Mansion's basement?
-

Not "a coffin", but coffins... there's more than one..
According to Crisis Core, the coffins are for putting hojo's experiments..
If Zack opens those coffins, some experiment monsters will come out..
And of course, Vincent is inside one of those coffins
-
Hojo's a creepy man O_O Then again, we always knew that.
-
I always believed that Hojo is the core of all problem in FF7
-
It's always a mad scientist to do the fare bidding in just about any novel, legend, or game. :-P
-
Of course he is, he's the original sin of FF7. That's what makes him worthy of the last boss before the party goes to the crater to stop Sephiroth. It's like taking out the Warring Triad before facing Kekfa, as they were the original problem in FF6 history.
-
I don't think there's any original sin in FF7. Unlike in a lot of other games, where there is one bad guy who is definitely behind all of the other bad things, FF7 has quite a few baddies who work semi-separately. Hojo is certainly behind the problems that relate to some of the characters (Cloud, Sephiroth, Aeris and Red XIII), but Shinra in general is still pretty evil. Assuming that they would still have taken over the whole world without Hojo's SOLDIER research (I think they would have; it would just have taken longer), they'd still be draining the planet of Mako energy, making them the biggest baddies in the wider scheme of things, and they still would have been responsible for all of the bad things that lead to the creation of AVALANCHE (unless I'm missing something that is revealed in Before Crisis). The bad things that happened to Barret, for example, don't have any special connection to Hojo.
There's also Jenova and Sephiroth. Jenova has a lot of "Original Sin" qualities (moar like "Original Crisis" amirite? :-D); she did kill all of the ancients, after all. Jenova had the biggest impact of any baddie on the world of FF7. Hojo used her, but one might say that she used him as well. Sephiroth is, of course, thanks to Hojo, but also thanks to Jenova, and he has enough freedom (from Hojo, but not necessarily from Jenova), for one to say that Hojo is not really the core of the Sephiroth problem. After all, Sephiroth's actions weren't controlled by Hojo, and he did the opposite of what he was intended to do. If Hojo had said "just as planned (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYBz0KvktUQ)" when Sephiroth went crazy, we might be able to say that he was the core of the problems in FF7. But he didn't. So there. :-P
-
It's easy to overlook her, as she isn't directly involved in the game, really. I mean, she is, but... she's dead. Hojo serves as the sort of "original sin" for the events of the FFVII game, as far as Cloud and Sephiroth go. But for the FF7 history and universe... yeah, I guess it would really be Jenova.
So yeah, Jenova did have the most overall impact on the FF7 world. I guess second to her would be Shinra for the influence they had over the world, and for the employment of Hojo, who would rank third on the list.
-
Yeah. True. If Jenova wouldn't have landed at the crater, then Hojo and Gast would never have researched the history of Ancients (Cetra) and then the Jenova Project wouldn't have never begun. But yeah, either way, Shinra was the leading power either way, unless AVALANCHE would build their army and stand up and defeat Shinra.
-
My friend, 20 more posts and you'll have no life :-D
EDIT: My friend, 25 more posts and you'll have no life :-D
In the end, Shinra was rendered quite insignificant with Sephiroth's Meteor. Sephiroth was basically trying to repeat what Jenova did, only bigger and badder, and with a few added twists, and the aim of the game is to stop it. Humans won't survive the second time D=
