Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg
« on: 2013-12-25 13:30:10 »
New PC I thought it time to give this majorly magnificent modification of FF7 a second shot. I'm stuck before I can even start playing though! Help would be mucho appreciated :) Given my luck with these things this probably won't be the first obstacle..

-Did a clean install of an old copy of FF7 to a non-system folder. (c:\desktop\games\final fantasy vii)
-Downloaded BFE and 'Tifa's Package [Bootleg040 mods]'
-Made sure the bootleg program pointed to the correct places for installing and retrieving files.
-Ran bootleg, everything installed that was supposed to. I saw no unusual error messages.
-Configured bootloader and then hit "Play FF7" and I get this error message: http://i.imgur.com/6qwVmvT.png

No matter where I google/search or download bootleg from I can not find "FFVII-bootleg.bat" ANYWHERE!

I read somewhere around here that the bootleg.exe IS the .bat so I copied the bootleg.exe to ..everywhere.. and that didn't fix it.

1. How do I find this mystery FFVII-bootleg.bat file?

2. When playing the game from its own launcher it crashes upon starting up. Is that because I must use the bootloader?

Edit: I see there is a "Run FFVII-Bootleg" batch file in the installation directory but that wasn't doing anything to help me. I even renamed it to "FFVII-Bootleg.bat" which had no effect.

Edit2: Setting graphics back to software renderer tells me there's something else going wrong because now it won't even start up normally like it was BEFORE i put the mods in. This setting does not give me an error message or a close program prompt that I was getting with 'Custom driver'.

I'm guessing my best bet it to start over and be more picky with what mods that go in but I'll leave this post here in case someone can answer my missing .bat file problem.

Edit-again: (Sorry) It's working now and all i did was re-run bootleg and unchecked an option for sounds/FMV along the way... wish I knew what I did. It's working at least! No idea why the bootloader suddenly decided there was a Bootleg.bat this time either... Now to see if I can get updated FMV's to work... hmmm maybe that was what happened.

Much love to the creators and organisers and what have you! <3 This rocks.

No rush - Especially if this is helping bootleg. If the problem is my crappy PC then I'll stop posting about my problems. If the problem is with bootleg/mods and is helpful for you then I'm all too happy to report this stuff. :)

4
@raulgulino: I just tried to download that file and it worked ok for me. Maybe close/re-open browser and try again should fix it for you?

As a note using this remix patcher will break your game on it's own (Although it will look pretty.. it will not let you play much without crashing, I found out the hard way). Hit up PitBrats bootleg configurator if you want a well modded FFVII: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=12008.msg168306#msg168306 It uses the remix patcher in  it so that won't have been a wasted download AND it'll apply fixes PitBrat has made to it when installing, as well as other such mods.

5
@Iecerint: Sorry to ask a dumb question but you are using print scrn right? I just tried it and it copied the image perfectly. o.O

  • FF7 \ FF7Music \ FF7Music.log
^I could not find this file anywhere I even used Ctrl+F. I also could not find an APP.log in the FF7Music folder.

The other files are all here:

BFE save: http://www.mediafire.com/?ljf6q09tovvqcqc

APP.log: http://www.mediafire.com/?ofx9nwzml1b2903

Dxdiag.exe: http://www.mediafire.com/?evsxn4x5f57suat

Thanks for taking a look. :)

hmm, I have only just noticed I only have 11gb free space at the moment and I read somewhere this needs 16gb to install properly? I may have to run bootleg again if this may have caused me problems...

7
Ah-ha! Well spotted. I added the colon (') and BFE was able to find it this time. Thanks! :D

I've unpacked the enhanced video files manually but other than those, all the required mods for default settings on bootleg are recognised by BFE. Time to rerun bootleg then try and work out what's causing my crashes...

8
Using Bootleg/BFE, default settings. Didn't crash at the shinra soldiers this time but did crash when going downstairs to AVALANCHE team's hideout after meeting Tifa for the first time. I'm beginning to wonder if my PC just doesn't want me to play FFVII looking beautiful. D: Any ideas?

Is there a list of known bugs or untested fixes for this anywhere? I'd be quite happy to do a bit of feedback/testing of things as I play through. :)

10
I apologise. I did not put as much information as I should have. I use google chrome and the links when I click them in my browser work ok. It's just when trying to use the link from BFE they were shortened. I highlighted them (With my amazing artistic skills) in this image: http://i42.tinypic.com/2qlsk82.jpg

Can I assume if this list does not find a file that bootleg.exe will not find it either? Just wondering because as you can see, the Trish' Custom Model pack (.7z) shows in red on the list but the downloaded file (.rar) is clearly in the same folder.

11
*Shakes fist at Rapidshare*

My Hero Ugerstl. Thanks once again. :)

Haven't yet reran bootleg for the FMV and enhanced movies part but I've had a bit of a play with what did install and MY GOSH...

1. Got a new PC and decided to dig up my old copy of FFVII.
2. Looked forward to adding a few mods.
3. Ended up using bootleg instead of a few random mods...
4. Completely fell in love with FFVII again.

Seriously, my game looks stunning, I'm so excited to play it like this! Have experienced no crashing problems whatsoever which is new to me. :)

Only problem I've seen so far is Aeris appeared completely white when I first met her and bought one of her flowers. Hoping I can fix this with a bit of tweaking when I run bootleg for the FMV's, also decided that even though Cloud w/ Masamune looks awesome, clouds own swords are more fun. :3

I Highly recommend bootleg to anyone looking to mod FFVII. It might take a while to DL all the files but A) It is so worth it. B) Definitly faster than doing a ton of mods individually. C) The provided fixes are a godsend <3 Great work! BIG BIG Thank you to everyone involved. :)

I looked but couldn't find, is there an alternate download link for these files anywhere? I don't have Rapid pro and it's telling me it will take 4 hours to download 466mb and won't let me Download both at the same time. Which means this is going to take me like... 8 hours to download two files totalling under 1GB? -.- I'm not gonna be a fan of rapidshare if it does this, 150mb files from almost any other site take 5mins at most to download. Ridiculous. Halp!

I look forward to checking out a future version of this mod, it looked good for the little i saw of it.

..also I don't know why anyone would call a ball they carry with their hands a football. Just saying. :P

15
Ah gotcha, I just got confused with the animation and box on my start bar. Will I be ok to just run bootleg again without undoing everything? Or does it require a clean install?

*Laments the loss of MegaUpload*

16
Didn't get to try this out before I slept last night. One of the music installer .exe's took 3 hours to DL even though it wasn't that big a file, was from a rapidshare download link but that isn't technically a problem as it does indeed download.

Two problems I did find however:

1. FMVRes.exe when the bootleg fired this up for me it did not load ANY of the interface, no window/buttons/etc, all I got was a animated picture of sephiroth on my desktop. Tried multiple things to try and force it to load but in the end just had to end the process in task manager, bootleg then continued as if it had installed. - I can't tell if this is a bug or just a random glitch as that would entail running the whole thing again but I ran FMVres.exe seperately and it worked ok but I shall wait until bootleg is finished before I run it all the way through (with it's own folder).

2. The mod list in BFE AND bootleg.exe could not find the files:

ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip
ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip

I can only assume like the poster above me said that the file path in BFE/Bootleg is wrong. If you check the download link for these files however you'll see this file is in four parts so perhaps it was modified since you added it to bootleg which might explain the problem there. It has 4 parts: 1, 2, 4 and 5 (No 3 lol) and part 1 is a .exe not a .zip http://www.mediafire.com/?5oxns4oj1mgny

..hmmm yeh.

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=11504.msg159119#msg159119

I wish I'd bothered to look a bit harder before starting bootleg, I only just noticed these. xD

Anyway those are the only issues I've come across during installation.

It will probably be worth restarting the whole process again with these files even if just to to see if I can duplicate the problem I noted with FMVres not working correctly... I'll let this one run through then retry, will post if I find any other issues. Hope this helped.

17
Fantastic work! I'm working on DLing the files at the moment.

Found one broken DL link, just says page not found when I go to it:

yarLson Field Upscale Project v0.35.zip https://docs.google.com/leaf?id

Just noticed there are a few other files with this link, I'm guessing there's a whole chunk of stuff that should be at the end.

There's another link for a few files: https://docs.google.com/open?id

Of course I simply found the proper links via these forums but thought you might want to change that anyway.

Neither open a DL page. Hope that helps.

18
Thanks, I had re-installed by the time I saw your post but glad I checked back before putting PRP in again. I tried UU01 but it seemed glitchy in places, not sure if that was my doing or if it's just because it's a WIP. Regardless, having now read more thoroughly about your bootleg project I've reinstalled again so as to have a clean install to try it out with. It looks like a fantastic piece of work and I'm currently downloading all the files I need. Odd thing though, BFE doesn't seem to have APZ cloud listed in the File>Mods window, or I just didn't see it listed.

Anyway, thanks again.

Currently I am experiencing a problem where after blowing up the first reactor and escaping, when being chased by shinra guards just before jumping on the train if I choose to fight instead of run away, when the battle ends a message pops up saying "Oops! Something very bad happened and FFVII has to close etc etc etc" APP.log only says:

I did not try just running away yet rather than fighting as I'd rather try and work out what went wrong so it doesn't happen again at some point. The mods I have installed are:

-Patch 1.02
-Aali's custom graphics driver
-Phoenix Rejuvenation Project.
-Millenias Cloud Weapons
-FMVres
-APZ Cloud
-9999Limit breaker
-YAMP
-FF7 Reasonable difficulty mod

I'm uploading a crash.DMP if that is helpful to analyse. If anyone knows of any known bugs with the above list of mods please let me know and I'll remove+test. Thanks in advance. <3

Crash.dmp: http://www.mediafire.com/?iuamdm2td4mufd2

Edit: Just noticed somehow I seem to have Downloaded an old version of Aali's driver so I'll try updating that and see if it's fixed..

Edit2: This time the crash happened moments sooner. After escaping I spoke to Aeris and bought a flower, then the crash happened as I walked in to the next zone. (Where I would have fought the chasing Shinra guards). I'm stumped. lol. Gonna try a few things before I reinstall (For the third time this week) and will edit if I resolve the problem..

@UGerstl Happy to help. :) The google link works perfectly. Thanks :D When downloading from mediafire it shows: "UGerstl" Shared Files / The Remix (Titeguy3)"

Sadly after installing this mod I found my game kept crashing which I'm fairly sure was to do with Team avalanches re-texture mod. This is based on the fact I vaguely remember it not being exceptionally cooperative on my last PC (It's been a while since I last played this game so memory is a bit hazy) I've been putting the mods in one by one except for that one and after sufficient testing have had no crashes. APP.log revealed only that there was an error, unhandled exception. But that's ok really, I mostly just like the PRP and battle mods with extras like music/limit-breaker/etc. However if someone has experienced this before and happens to know what's going on I will appreciate any input. :D

Sorry for the 30+ day post in this thread buuuuut: I really liked this mod on my last PC but alas I no longer have the files and the FBI or whoever have taken megaupload away, anyone still around who'd be kind enough to re-upload this? Thanks (hopefully) in advance.

Hi MSManiac,

i will upload the Remix for you onto MediaFire.

Final Fantasy VII Remix - A compilation of FF7 Mods [1.0-2.5.1]

Folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?l2ch6mri1n6ki

Hey there, the 9th part of the file simply does not initiate a download for me on IE or Chrome. Not sure if it's just me or not. I can download (and redownload) every other part but 9. Thought I'd post just in case it's not just me. :P

Kudos to the creator for this. I have a new PC and I did not feel like remodding this game bit by bit again so this is perfect. Thanks. <3
