Don't mean to sound a little stupid - but do i have to convert only the battle skeleton file to .3Ds or every single piece, including the .p files?

I tried PCreator and i couldn't get it to open the battle hrc and kimera refuses to allow multiple textures other than what the modeler originally specified.

I tried to use a hex editor to change the number of textures allowed but i had absolutely no idea what to do with it, or even if the HRC was the right file to do it in.

I really wanna get Millenia's buster sword on APZ's cloud - but i can't figure out how to do this.

In PCreator open the file and set which texture ID you want it to use.

Would that work for kimera as well?

Is there any way to combine two seperate models with their own textures or something for battle models like you can with field - like, if i wanted to use millenia's buster sword with

APZ's cloud - is it possible with kimera somehow. Whenever i try adding the texture it just puts it over the whole model and screws it up.

I think 13 is the best "newer" FF game so far. I didn't much care for 9, and 10 and 10-2 I felt it was going downhill, 12s character designs felt like they tried to emulate a mix of old english/western styles and designs but they failed at that plus most of them seemed like variations of the same chars. And the combat didn't really feel like an FF.

FF13 - despite its linearity, is really the only recent FF that has characters that interest me. Aside from Vanille - half the time i wish i could pop in the game to punch her in the face. Plus the Battle theme is pretty cool, its not up to par with a lot of uematsu's works but i still find it sounds like a pretty decent battle theme, i like it as much as i like VIII's.

With the battle system - i don't particularly love that you can only control one at a time but i do like the mechanics - it feels like a trip back to what VII made with a twist (albeit a big one) - I do enjoy it.

I also don't feel like the english voiced characters are stupid like the others (again, aside from vanille), especially Lightning - but maybe that's because she's alot like a girl version of cloud (secret brother and sister maybe? The smell of crossover surrounds me  :-o)

I blame the Enix part of Square-enix for squares lower quality stories nowadays. All the psx square games were good when they were called SquareSOFT - and all of Enix's Star Ocean games were just crappy copy's with interesting ideas and concepts that weren't implemented good - and then by ps2 they combined - and i guess Squares Amazing-ness mixed with Enix's horrendous-ness made them just "Mediocre" - plus SquareSoft sounds cooler then Square-Enix

EDIT: Whoops, i just realized this is horribly off topic, ahem.

On topic, i think the only way a remake would work (for me, at least) is if they offer you two ways to play when you start. New and Classic - new would be the revamped designs for characters, maybe a real time or crisis core-esqe battle system, and something that caters more to new players and keeps it interesting - Classic would make the characters designs the originals - maybe just with some more realistic features but keep everything that made the original designs good, and have the same, unaltered ATB battle system as the original PSX/PC game - and maybe add a little more side quests and things unrelated to the story to keep it fresh, but don't touch what makes the game what it is.

Wow, you guys really disliked it that much? It was one of my favorite fighting games, not only because it had Cloud and tifa but because it

seemed to offer a freedom in the fights that not many other fighting games at the time had. Plus i liked the complexity of the moves and how

the blocking and countering required perfect timing to pull off. It really added more of a reflex factor + skill with it. Didn't give a crap about that

bad RPG mode though. Had some fun times with my friend in friendly competition to see who was better - he always chose sasuke and i chose

cloud.

Is there any way to be able to use  the AC Cloud skin on the world map as well? i'm kind of curious.

You can, but it'd require you to use kimera to replace the parts yourself for clouds model in the world_us.lgp - unless kula makes one, that is.

ok... i'm having a slight issue

i modified it someone so i could put a sword on his back (it doesn't seem to go well with the thing on his back and the leg sleeve) so now i got the bustersword on his back.. sept in game cloud and his clothes are completely white, i know i modified some things but i don't think i did something THAT wrong did i?

ok, so it seems to ONLY be doing it to the field model, not the battle model, can anyone give me a hint as to why at all?

Could be if you compiled multiple p bones in a single file. If you add a textured sword you can't do that, it will probably apply the sword texture to cloud or vise versa if you do (though if the sword has no texture, but is instead vertex colored it shouldn't matter)

just a note, the sword looks a little too big
     the handle is too thick for cloud to wrap his hands around it

This is what ff7 really needs, some good field models



I agree that ff7 needs quality field models. At least now we can thank kula for giving us one  :-D

Yeah, i used the erase tool to remove the skirt and the sword sheath thingy. Once i removed the skirt the sheath just looked wierd.

I like it, though, cept his half-skirt and sleeve-dress aren't there...

Yeah, i took them out with kimera to make a more "Classic" cloud from kula wende's model, just to see how well it would turn out.

I never really cared for the half-skirt and sleeve on his left arm.

I also got this one on the bike as well.

i agree with most people here, i too like the original cloud's hair style

As do I, I always thought his original hair was so much better than the CC/AC style, it's just so unique to him.

I would love this model with the classic hair.

Of the main ones you have listed, i have overall almost the same in my FF7 install, but if i ever move to another computer or need to reinstall, this should be very helpful.

Idk, but to me his hair looks a little bit...dark.

Might look better if you could make it a lighter blond? but that's just my opinion.

Does this minigame use separate textures for the portraits that appear next to the life meters, or the same portraits as the main menus just shrunk? If you're going to put Tifa in the main position, you'll want to swap their portraits.

Actually, i was really just doing this for 2 reasons:
1. to screw around and fun
2. My sister (she likes tifa)

I don't know, should i release the tifa version too?
It doesn't really make sense, as even *hypothetically* if i got the health to switch to effecting tifa, its still cloud in the cutscene, and tifa is still driving the car too.

Sweet, I can try this out and see how it looks with the ground textures not screwed up.

I just tested it with direct 3D, and the ground textures are fine.

I have a feeling its probably my card is having problems with Aali's opengl driver.

Strangely, thats the only problem i've ever encountered with the driver.

heh, never set use_shaders to false for aali's config -


causes some wierd-ass problems
