Oh yeah, i encountered this. it  has something to do with the graphics card.

try googling for "FF8 patch", you might find a link to files "FF8SqeaPatch.zip" (something like that). there are 2 patches, so choose the one for RADEON, since your graphics card is from this company.

i've found the 1.02 patch and applied it. i also used rivatuner's 2x2 antialiasing. i've also selected the direct3d hardware acceleration. hoever, the characters are black with only their eyes had colours. why is this?

i saved it on the highwind, past the point where your FMV freezes and you have to go to junon's Underwater reactor. you're missing quite a heckuva plot progress though

it's during the FMV which meteor crashes with cd's rocket and meteor shatters into pieces. save it at the next savepoint
