this is one of those FMV-freezes-and-crashes-to-the-desktop cases, but in both FF7 and FF8. anyone can teach me how to skip those FMVs or even edit the save so that it saves elsewhere?

You need to get patches for them.

For FFVII Type in on google, 'Reunion Patch', you'll probably find some links to download that. That should patch up your game I guess.

Or.. [suggested method] just type in Eidos on google and search for the patches there.

Was along time since I did my FFVII, and I got all my patches with the game..   (Do not ask any questions relating to that please).

okay that solves FF7, but what about FF8?

hey would you even consider continuing my saves so that it passes the corrupted areas?

I would consider continuing them but I can't because I haven't got FFVII on my computer anymore..

As for FFVIII..

I already got these but it only fixes the annoying lines when using direct3d acceleration, not the FMVs... :weep:
