Is this a dream? First Half life is announced and now R06 is released  :-D. Congrats and thank you on the release DLPB and all of your helpers, you've done amazing work and I can't wait to crack into it.

2
I managed to get them both working by following ark.sky.dragons guide on the steam discussions of Final Fantasy VII.

  • First, get a clean installation of the game.
  • Go to the Remako install guide and download and install all of the required software as per the instructions.
    • You will be required to use the FF7 game converter and you may run into an issue with the FF7.exe not working. Try applying the "run in 640x480 screen resolution option, don't worry if you follow the Remako guide as this won't be forced, it just gets around some issues starting the game.
  • Go to your FF7 install directory and rename the "FF7_en.exe" (ex: "FF7_en_steam.exe"). This is important as this is the original steam exe, if this is present Reunion will patch this instead of the converted FF7.exe.
  • Install Reunion, found here.
  • Now assuming you followed step 2 you should have 7th Heaven installed. Update Aali's modpath in the settings to <INSTALL_DIR>/mods/Reunion (Check the Remako guide if you need help finding this).
    • You may be tempted to change the exe to one of the others in the install directory, DON'T. FF7.exe is what you want, things will break otherwise.
  • Again if you followed the guide from step 2 you should have Remako installed on 7th Heaven, however, you may have noticed if you tried to run the game after installing Reunion you no longer get the HD backgrounds, here is how you fix that:
    • In 7th Heaven go to Workshop > Pack/unpack .iro archives.
    • Go to the Unpack .iro tab and select the Remako .iro file and unpack it to a temporary location (7th Heaven may hang here just let it do its thing).
    • Once unpacked go to the unpacked Remako HD Graphics Mod folder and copy the field folder to the Reunion folder from step 5.
  • Run the game from 7th Heaven and enjoy.

That method breaks 60 fps (making battles run unbearably slower) and has misaligned text, at least for my setup.

---

Thanks for the advice, but I'm pretty happy with the compromise I found, especially now that I'm many hours into a playthrough.

Originally that happened when I tried it, but I redid the installation and it all worked fine for me (60fps battles and all). I just assumed I did something wrong.

Are the transparent/FFX style battle boxes going to be added back in with R06 (or at least an option for them)? I miss that mod.

Is there any way to run the game with the downloaded mods, without launching it directly through 7th Heaven? For example, if I could use 7th Heaven to download, install and setup the mods and then just launch the game directly through it's exe file. The reason I ask is that although the game works perfectly under wine (on Linux) and 7th Heaven seems to as well, it crashes when attempting to launch the game through 7th Heaven.

Hey, I'm a big fan of this project, especially the translation and 60 fps battles. However, the sharply pixellated backgrounds are a little jarring and annoying with the new models.

Is it currently possible to change the in-game textures (or linear-blur them) along with R05 without breaking anything? Or is that only possible with older versions, and likely the upcoming R06?

You can install Remako (and a number of other 7th heaven mods) and R05 at the same time, although the process is a little involved. Arc.Sky.Dragon has the instructions in this steam discussion: https://steamcommunity.com/app/39140/discussions/0/3022387599798577530/

Well I certainly feel your pain on that one. I bought the re-release (before it's steam release) and went to download it again a few years later only to realise it "apparently" expires  :|. Didn't realise I was buying a temporary edition of the game. I wasn't going to re-buy it on steam after that, but the inner collectionist in me gave in and I promised myself it was the last time I'd pay Square for FF7.

7
Is it possible to get this working on the steam version? Converting the game to the 98 version is a massive hassle on Linux.

Releases / Re: [FF7PC-98/Steam] New Threat Mod (v1.4)
« on: 2016-05-02 09:59:04 »
I'm having an issue with the field music. I decided to test it out (must have saved after), didn't like it so I changed it back....But it didn't work. Tried restarting, disabling the mod, saving a new game and loading it after re-enabling it, doesn't want to change back to battle. Only way to fix it is load up my other save file from before I changed it. But that save was from so many hours ago, I really don't want to have to play through all of that again.

Any fixes for this issue?

Well I'm officially retarded.

I forgot to remove the Hext_in folder with a 60fps.txt in it from when I was using obesebears mod, which was causing the speed up with no other parts of his mod present and the delay when using the 60fps battles from the animations mod.

Problem solved sorry for wasting your time.

First case of this to be reported. Have you tried running a frame limiter and locking FPS to 60?

I already had Riva Tuner set to limit framerate to 60, since it's my monitors refresh rate. I ran MSI (and Riva Tuner) just to see what my fps was since it was going so weird. Solid 60 fps in battle, even with the delay (the animations are smooth though). Even when I disable the animations mod, still solid 60 fps when it's going super speed (not sure why it's running at 60 with it disabled, maybe that has something to do with it?)

Also, when you post load order, use what's given from the Profile Details button in 7H.

Oh wow didn't even see that button lol, I'll update the OP.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm running both ff7 and 7th heaven in compatibility mode for xp sp3 as it keeps freezing at black screen if I don't.

EDIT2: Game runs super speed even when starting it directly from the exe without any mods. Not sure if it's related to the delay though. Steam version of the game runs normal though.

I am trying to use the 60 FPS battles option in the animations mod, but whenever I do, the battles have an enormous delay between when I select to attack, when the character attacks, when the hit sound plays and when the damage number comes up. MSI afterburner shows it running at 60fps during all of this.
Not only that, the animations take a long time to play out and the characters get stuck in their victory animation for 30 or more seconds before it will go to the xp screen.

When I Disable the 60fps battles mod, the battles run at super speed. They run so fast it's hard to keep track of what is going on.
