Oh, crap -- I installed that patch and I just ruined my Microsoft Wavetable sounds :P  Ive been making music for a video game for almost 2 years with DirectMusic producer and all the files sound extremely crappy now... in particular the slow strings sound extremely awful -- is there any way to revers this PLEASE?

Thanks in advance, i hope :P

ID4, or Cyclones?

Hmm.... is it just visions of alien ship invasions or actual physical invasions?

Ive heard of a lot of corporations and even some universities that throw out complete systems (CAD companies are notorious for this, from what Ive heard) and you can pick em out of the dumpster :D
never tried it though...  :z

somthin tells me this might need another hint or 2...

hint #2)  This was supposed to be a sequel to a POPULAR movie, although a real sequel was made in theatres later (which had no relation to the game and was a lot LESS popular)

edit:  also, i dont seem to remember a bear-horn in M:I for n64

Sweeeeeeeet...
</cartman voice>

Oh, let's see... question, question... I hope that monkey island one didnt count

Okay, I've got one...

Hint #1)  This game is an old one for Sega CD and involved such life-saving items as a bear-horn, night-vision goggles, tranqulizer gun, and gas-gun...

p.s.  Completely unrelated question: Why does my signature never show up...?

ergh... Thats not an answer I like to hear, lol...

Are there any, uh, more likable answers?   -_-

OOOH! I do know this because I just bought it like 3 months ago (poor dreamcast went under so games are cheap now)

Its Grandia II, correct?   :naughty:

The devil is Valmar and the god is Lord Granas (who, btw, has the sweetest frickin sword ever...)

My only complaint about that game is it's complete invariablility (i THINK thats the word im looking for...).  There are, to my knowledge, absolutely NO sub-quests in that game, right? YUCK... otherwise an excellent game   :P

P.S.  Is anyone else reminded of "Beat the Geeks" yet??

:z This is really not amusing anymore...

Okay, my copy of windows XP finally crashed and I reformatted and reinstallled (making sure that I still had my ff7 precious savegames).  Now,  have reinstalled ff7 and the opening cg works fine... until I press a button to go to the main menu.  It never gets to the main menu when I use the "nVidia" checkbox with either TNT or 128.  I can get the game to work if I uncheck the "nVidia" checkbox, but then the greyed-out text stuff doesnt work and a bunch of other glithes in text happen... help me please!

I have:

GeForce 2
SB Live!
256 ram
etc, etc...

(PS also, in a completely unrelated post, why doesnt my signature automatically pop up here?   :isee: )

Yes, I realize this, but thankfully I started my game before I had windows XP, and I copied my save-game files, wich bring me to the Temple of the Ancients...  Now, however, I am reformatting my computer (kind of a routine thing, really...) and I will keep trying to fix ff7...

Okay, I'm new, but I figured that I deserved a chance to give a trivia question, because this game is so classic...

What game (or series of games) involves such famous quotes as...

"I can't pick that up!"
"I don't think he'd like that..."
"You billowous bag of barnacle bait!"
and finally (unless you need more):  "Guybrush... I AM YOUR BROTHERRRR!!!!!!!"

Edit: Sorry, I didnt happen to see the rules lol     :z

General Discussion / Most liked/hated Square/RPG games
« on: 2002-03-07 23:21:00 »
lol there is no contest that the worst RPGs ever were
Evolution and Evolution II by UbiSoft... those games sucked.
My only other non-like rpg is Diablo II... Im not sure what exactly makes this game unlikable, but it repulses me for some reason...

Best RPG of all time (excluding current PC compatibility):  FF7

(EDIT:  You will all be happy to know that I took out a rather descriptive description of what Evolution, in my opinion, DOES...)

hmmm... a Kernel error?

Correct me if im wrong, but Kernel errors are most fequent when the motherboard Bus is setup wrong, isnt it (seriously, CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG).  By any chance have you recently upgraded your processor or motherboard without fomatting and reinstalling windows?  I was actually warned to be sure and do that when i upgraded my mobo and chip

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / HELP me with FF 7!

Yes, there is a patch for Final Fantasy VII that enables nVidia cards.

Go to http://www.eidosinteractive.com and make your way to the ff7 page.  From there you will be able to find a patch that enables support for nVidia cards.

Yowzers.... Im really sorry for having to post the following, as it will most likely confuse and disorient all who read it, but It may be related to my problem...

I decided to try hitting ENTER when i get the error message instead of escape, and it took me to what looked like a SEVERLY buggy divx file (ex. lots of LARGE, brightly colored pastel pixels), and I soon got an error message that I COULD see, though I prefer not to quote it due to its longevity, i will say that it has to do with some indexing file i think, and it asks me if I want to DEBUG it (I have the debugging version of directX 8.1 sdk installed).  I say, no and I get to a perfectly normal screen of the main menu.  It only freezes on cinema files, and I finally realized that this is strikingly similar to an error message that I get on a select few of my divx files, and that it has been happening to me ever since i decided to use the DEBUG version of the SDK... I am now going to uninstall the SDK and reinstall the NORMAL version, not the debug version to see if it helps... any help would still be recommended (ageements with my assumptions, etc.) just in case this doesnt work... WISH ME LUCK AND HELP!

Okay, I am getting really ticked off at all you people in here who can make FF7 work like a charm... mine has stopped working ever since I installed WinXP PRO...

Okay, here's my specs:
Geforce2 MX
SB LIVE!
256 ram
30 GB HDD primary use + 80 GB for my movies
16x12x40 CD-RW
12x DVD
19" monitor
blah blah, etc. etc...

Now, my problem:
I installed ff7 full install and installed the directshow drivers (as per ordered in other topics I have read).  I installed the nvidia patch and tried to run ff7, but one of two things always happen:

1.  (When 'Nvidia mode' is checked off)  The screen goes black, i can HEAR my monitor change resolutions, then my WinXP desktop comes back, with no trace of ff7 being open.

2. (When 'Nvidia mode' is disabled, but 'direct3d' is still activated)  The screen goes black, and I soon get an hour glass (in 640x480 res) and windows makes an error sound behind the black screen.  If I hit escape a couple times, then I get my desktop back, with no ff7 instance open.  It is impossible to alt-tab out of the black screen...

can ANYONE help me???  I love this game so much and can't play it...  :isee:   If you have an answer, PLEASE EMAIL it to me as well as posting it here, because I might not remember to check back here often...
