The mirror link is the FF7 driver, I'm looking to get the FF8 one.  Would anyone who happens to have it be able to host it so I can get it?  big thanks.

The link for all the stuff seems to be dead.  Any word on when it will be going back up?  Also dear god an FF8 patch.  Took me completely by surprise.  GOOD SHOW SIR.

Goddamn Aali you just keep on bringing in the awesome.  I hope this moves as fast as the OpenGL driver did.

Interesting.  Would be interesting to see this actually playable.

6
Do you have any idea what's on tap for 0.4?  I'm looking forward to every release of this.

7
Will running in say, 1440x900 strech the picture or will it put black bars on the side?

EDIT:
Nevermind, tried it and it works. FANTASTIC!

I'm still noticing some horizontal tearing on fields, I didn't really check for it on the world map or battle screen
Also the battle swirl is back.  once again, FANTASTIC.
This looks like a 1.0 release.

8
Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't this do absolute wonders for compatibility on newer systems?

9
Again, its not really noticeable so I really wouldn't worry about it too much.  Everything else seems to work great.

I have a question though, is it running in 32 bit color?

2.6 GHz AMD Anthlon64 x2
ATI Radeon X1950XT
2GB RAM (Don't remember the speed and don't feel like finding CPU-Z to check if you need it let me know)
Windows XP Pro SP3

Field runs at steady 29 FPS (rather than 30, but its really not a big deal since it isn't really noticeable)
World map is always changing anywhere from 30 to 28.  Never really hangs on a single FPS.
Battles run at steady 15 as they are supposed to

11

Took a look with fraps to check the framerate.  Field, instead of running at 30 at all times, runs at 29/28.  The Vsync problem seems to be gone for some reason, who knows what happened with that..

12
Working for me.  Played for 5 minutes to try it out, here's what I noticed.

-Battle Swirl Missing
-Small framerate drops for fractions of a second.
-any way to enable Vsync?  I noticed horizontal tearing when moving around fields.

These are the only things I really noticed.  Goddamn nice work here man, for a 0.2 release, surprisingly complete.

Agreed with the above. Master Tonberry.

14
So is this running in 32 bit color to make the FMVs look slightly less terrible?  I can't believe this got so far so fast.  Fantastic job, I hope to see this followed up after the next release.

15
So it's the NPC-RC reenvisioned?  Also I tried running this and all my movies play upside down when they didn't before.

16
Oh man this is an amazing project.  Gonna give this a test tomorrow.

Schizo never really gave me problems.  if you had the fire ring/armlet (Which you should have at that point i'm pretty sure) it wasn't too too bad.  I do remember one time fighting him with vincent in his L1 limit and everyone else dead.  it just kept going for like 20 minutes on autopilot XD

yeah his move where he slams up against you does really high damage to all.  All of his hits just do an incredible amount of damage for that point in the game.  Big Guard makes a joke of the fight though.

Pretty sure more resolutions are planned by adding black bars around the gameplay.  The way it works though is that gameplay will only display in multiples of 320x240.  Other resolutions have to have borders supposedly.

Also, as far as battle crashes go, have you enabled compatibility mode for windows 98?  Try that first.

I just tried the 32 bit mode in ficedula's patch.  Puts a nice vertical black bar on the screen for all the FMVs.

Another one just came to mind.

Hell's gate, as the poster above noted, and the 2 elevator fights in shinra HQ on my first ever playthrough.

22
Yeah I was talking more about FF7.  FF8 FMV quality was miles better.  I do actually have the advent children DVD so I might be able to use that.  Ficedula's cetra patch, where can I find that, and will it patch onto a previously patched exe.  I'm not sure which backup of the exe is unmodded.

23
I feel like the videos are alot more compressed than the PSX counterparts.  Is this just me?  Also, could better quality videos replace the PC stock ones if the movie directory was changed in the registry?

24
Well I own physical discs of the game, but I have the images backed up because their condition is getting worse and worse.  What can I say, I didn't treat CD's the greatest in my youth.  Right now my original discs sit in the original oversized case and I only use the images to play now.  There's really no downside here.  Also helps the gameplay to FMV delay to be almost nonexistant since there's no having to spin up the disc.

General Discussion / Re: Aeris leveling
« on: 2009-04-02 03:22:20 »
I was able to get them my most recent playthrough (Just got to disc 3 today).
Thing is I was WAY overleveled.  Even now I'm level 60 going into disc 3.  At the point where I could get Aeris' final limit my characters were level 40.

It's pretty easy to ovelevel them when you use the Junon trick to fight disc 2 enemies on disc 1.  So yes, now I can say I've gotten her level 4 break, but at the price of pretty much removing all challenge from the game.
