FF7 on Laptop
« on: 2008-04-19 16:54:31 »
Okay... I would like to explain something clearly. Yes, I am running the Ultima Edition of FF7... but before you bite my head off, take into account that I legally own a proper copy of FF7. However, as the discs are quite old, and I don't want to run the risk of damaging them, I am keeping them preserved, and installed the Ultima Edition. Now, on my laptop, this is how it looks:

See how the quality of the image is poorer than that of the usual PC experience? Anyway, I'm wondering if there's a way I can hack it to show at a higher resolution, kinda like Saint's patch does. I'd have used it, however, I know that unfortunately, it only works on a specific version of FF7's executable.

Can anyone recommend anything to me without preaching about my use of the Ultima Edition?

Well, since that's a pic of the menu, there's no real telling for us to see how it looks in game.
But anyways, this is a simple suggestion, so don't bite my head off for asking, but have you adjusted resolution in the config?
If so, how about increasing resolution of you're laptop, that helped me with FF7 on the laptop, again though, that was on a legit copy (No offence)

The config only allows two resolutions, and mine's set to the highest allowed for the game... 640x480. My laptop's resolution is at its highest... don't ask me what it is though, I only just got it. Eh-heh...

However, I can safely say that most of the text in game is as squishy looking as the menu text. Oh, and no offence taken.

Solution is in The Great FF7 FAQ. Look for "garbled" keyword.

LOL! I got it fixed, but it had nothing to do with anything the FAQ was talking about. I just changed the game's config from Hardware Renderer to Software, and now it shows perfectly.

Thank you for the help though. I really appreciate it. :)
