Must have mods for FFVII?
« on: 2010-06-26 00:40:38 »
So I wanted to play an RPG to kill some time, tried some here and there, but meh, decided maybe I could try FF7 again, never got that into. I notice alot of mods that look interesting, but are sadly only 50-60% done.

Anyone have any "Must have" Mods they now use to play the game?

http://www.finalfantasy7pc.com/

This site is pretty dedicated to it, has some nice stuff, but still...what do you guys recommend for the best graphical quality & other improvements?

just try titeguy3's remix patcher. it's pretty simple to install and has a lot in it.

Well, at least he's not claiming to have made the mods himself ;D

All of the mods he talks about come from here, although he doesn't mention these forums much (perhaps that is a blessing). Anywho, have a look in the Team Avalanche section; there are a lot of up-to-date graphical mods in there. Have a look for Millenia's custom models as well, and Apz Freak's Cloud model.

You should also, of course, read this guide to installing the game and getting everything to work before you do anything. The guy who wrote it obviously knows his stuff and I've heard that he is very handsome as well ;D

Of course, all of this is assuming that you are actually looking for help and you're not just the owner of that website. :P

I imagine that being able to read your previous posts would help me to work out whether you are or not, but the forums aren't working properly :'(

edited 'cos I didn't do my research ;D

I am curious to know who made that site as they credit me and many others by our nicknames on here.

The only thing I don't like about that site is they advice people to download the game and use torrents but its nice to know some people spreading the word for this mods. Maybe there will be more people who will come here to make their own mods for the game. :)

Or square will take notice of the instructions on how to pirate it, and also notice the mods. And maybe take more notice of qhimm. Which is not a good thing.

Square already take notice of qhimm, or so I've heard.

And they're really quite unlikely to take notice of every site that gives people advice on how to pirate a 13-year-old game (13 years? Jesus Christ!). I mean, there are lots of sites that help people to download far newer Square games...

Not the owner, just thought it was helpful, at least for me, whom had trouble navigating these forums. Thanks, I will check out what you recommended, it has been awhile. I don't know why my posts don't show up, must be because it was several years ago. Infact...almost 5.

Thank you, I didn't know a wiki existed. I appreciate it. I remembered this website, but the name Qhimm has slipped from memory and so I kept searching FF7 PC mods until the site I linked to came up, and it brought me back here. It was so Official-styled, I thought it might be your website, but it appears not. I may hold off after reading about some of these mods. I mean, until they're completed and I can get the full experience that is.

Hi all.

I thought it was time I introduced myself. I am the owner of the website. Wanted to reply to a few of the things really.

1) I made the site for fun, and also for the fans who are less savvy and would have a hard time navigating around the forums.

2) I am not the first site linking back to your mods. There are in fact a number of websites that are doing so; I have encountered a number of other non-dedicated forums and websites linking straight to the sources without proper credit given to the author of the mods.

3) The reason the site was made is because I am a fan much like the most of you

4) To sl1982 who asked to link back to the original forum thread, I have linked to the forums a number of times, and mentioned the Qhimm modding community a number of times in some of the tutorial vids I had made. If you also look in the links section and on each Mod section, as well as the main Mod page there are also links to the forums. There is a large paragraph in bold stating that I do not wish to take credit for any of the mods that were created, and where possible, I have accredited the work to it's proper author - so in theory, I don't think you guys have been under handed.

5) I am greatful for all the work and hard efforts you have all put in to these mods, as I have personally enjoyed playing the game. And I'm sure all the fans are appreciative too.

6) In regards to the torrent file available in the section, I am not endorsing illegal activity. I am only stating that as per the EULA - you are allowed to have copies of the game if you own the original game. There are some people with scratched CD's that no longer work, and I don't think everyone is able to afford a new game. That's why I suggested downloading one of the CD's through that torrent. Directly beneath it, there is a link to buy the game through the amazon store. So no, I do not directly endorse illegal file sharing of any sort. If you think that perhaps I should make a clearer statement then I will do so.

7) I used your nicknames when stating who the author was since I do not know all of your real names. It would make more sense to mention your forum id anyhow, since the exit page stats suggest that most of the visitors head to Qhimm forums from that site...

I hope this answers everything and if you have any questions please feel free to do so.

Cheers.

P.S I am British. Be sure to cheer on England if you watch the game today. Good luck to the Germans too ;)

i would just add a link to the black chocobo project page, since there seams to be much development going on now.
Not only by myself but Vegeta_Ss4 has also been hacking away working on things for the project.

The reason i requested you to link to the forum post was not because of any issues with not giving credit. The forum post will always have the most up to date links for everything. If people are going to be enjoying our work it should be the latest we have done. Not to mention megaupload might delete my stuff at any time. They are like that.
