This forum covers mostly FFVII for the PC, but they do some stuff for FFVIII too, and I think a couple of other games.

Yes, they cover the PSX version too.

Also, when posting a new topic, make sure it states somethign about what your asking instead of "kinda important". kk?

mk thx. i specialize in ff7 for ps1. i have created many hacked versions of ff7 for ps1 as well as thousands of gameshark codes:). i have the pc version of ff7 on disk for the pc and i was somewhat dissapointed. i see what you are trying to do with the pc version and i appriciate it but after installing all the patches this site gave me, i still prefer playing the game through a ps1 emulator but i will see if this site can change my veiwpoint.

EDIT: i am also shocked that there is still an active ff7 forum. that blows my mind. this post got replied to in a matter of minutes. i like this community and i will be more active.

When you say hacked, do you mean illegal hack? Or just a modified game (like better models, text changes, or other such things)?

If it's illegal, you can't talk or post about that kind of stuff here.

well.. what i did, is that i converted my psx ff7 into an iso file. tthen i edited a bunch of stuff, such as scripts, monsters, models, bg's difficulty, and music. I also added a built in gameshark, type, device. if that is illigal then plz tell me but im not making money off of it so i dont think it is illigal.

and if you were wondering, yes i changed my name :)

Well, that's all fine.

In fact, that's a big thing of what we do here. I personally haven't done much. I'm just trying to experiment with Enemy MP battle Models (The first bad guys in the game) to make them more high def.

Oh, and you said you were dissapointed with the PC version?

Well, how bout making it look better?

Download this first: http://www.filefront.com/2952477/Final-Fantasy-7-Retail-v1.02-Patch/
(Take the ff7.exe and ff7config.exe and put them in your Final Fantasy VII folder, and select yes when it asks about copying)

Then download this: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8915.0
Click "Final Fantasy VII Remix v2.5.1 Installer" and install it. Watch out, it's 1.8 Gigs, so it'll take a little while to download and install.

Finally, download this: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8306.msg133947#msg133947
Click on the download link in the most recent post. follow the directions.

After that, you should have a game like this:

well.. the reason i am dissapointed in the pc version of ff7 is that (to my knowledge) there is no way to implement gameshark codes, eliminating the possibilities to follow the development of the game. if there is a gameshark for the pc version then i might reconsider.

That is the worst reason I have ever heard and exhibits such a fundamental misunderstanding of PC gaming that, much as I would genuinely like to explain what's wrong with that, I really don't know where to begin.

Following the development of the game? Dude, you can redevelop the game with the pc version if you like. plus, there are all kinds of programs here that can help you modify your game files, like Black Chocobo which allows you to modify save files, so you can have any item you want, or any stat, level etc..., hell, you can even choose which save point your at, like change it so your party is in the Debug room. The programs people have here are lightyears better then some dusty old gameshark, believe me. Gamesharks are fun and all, until they fry your game system.

I was busy and was at his house and was fixing his comp and during that he said someone replied to this post so...yea. i just never got used to the pc version but i just reinstalled it and im gunna give it a try. i got a few questions tho,

1. I only use my desktop for my job and the memory is almost full so i use my laptop and to my knowledge the game is played through the num pad. how do i change the keyboard input?

2. i have modified a ps1 controller to usb. can i connect it to pc ff7 if i can, can some1 tell me how to? thx

Well, there is a mod for the keyboard thing (i didn't need it cause my laptop came with one)

I forgot where the link was though.

The modified psx controler. I wouldn't have a clue. I haven't even tried my controler yet.

Never mind, just tried and it works perfectly. Just plug it in before you open the game, and then go into config and set the controls.

Don't worry, there's plenty of us here who prefer the PSX version! You are not alone  ;)

lol well thats good. and btw to better explain my self, unless you mod you ps1 controller, you can only play the pc version on the keyboard and that doesn't compare. btw a little off topic, i have 3 copies of ff7. 1 mint condition never before opened still in original packaging for psx. 1 that is in perfect condition for psx with out  scratch on any of the disks, and 1 for pc in perfect condition. i play ff7 usually on an emulator such as pSX. ok back to the subject. there is so much more you can do with gameshark codes than just changing your stats. for one, you can create custom battles with a series of codes, you can see battles previously removed from the game, you can see and battle monsters and moves and places removed also. im sure you can do at least some of that stuff if not all of that stuff with the pc version. but instead of downloading and installing a patch or looking through the files of the game, you just put in a gameshark code and you got it. I know that a lot of people will disagree with me especially on this forum, but in my opinion, nothing beats playing ff7 on a ps1 on a tv. im not dissing the pc version because im sure that there are a lot of things you can do that you cant do with gameshark codes, thats what im on this forum to learn and hopefully you guys can change my mind, but as of now i am unfamiliar with the pc version. like i said, i have re installed it on my laptop and  i am currently installing some patches so i hope im impressed.

~~NOTE~~
IF ANY ONE HAS A KEYBOARD PATCH, CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME THE LINK TO IT BECAUSE I HAVE A LAPTOP WHICH MEANS I HAVE NO NUM PAD. I AM POSITIVE THAT IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS THIS PROBLEM SO IF SOME1 COULD GIVE ME THE LINK THAT WOULD BE GREAT. THX.

Somebody doesn't know how to read stickies.

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=5834.0
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=9430.0

And the rules, which aren't stickied, but probably should be (is it possible to make them a persistent sticky throughout all the forums?)
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=1731.0

The Ultima Edition, or any other pirated copies, are not supported in any way, shape, or form. Many mods will not work with Ultima Edition, and it's illegal. Plain and simple.

Maybe we should make a sticky titled Ultima Edition.
Then people will click on it, thinking it will answer their question, and be tricked into reading the rules regarding pirated copies.

The kind of people who ask about the Ultima Edition are the kind of people who will never read *any* stickies.

And thus the cycle continues forever :'(

Or we could just ban anyone who mentions it.... hmmm

look.. i have the unillegal version on disk. mint condition actually. i just dont wanna have to put a disk in evrytime i play, thus keeping the disks scratch free. im sry but i wont talk about ff7 ******* edition anymore.

also, someone should block out those words when put together. i understand that this is a good community and you guys respect the law. I am not saying that you are wrong and you arent but im going to state my opinion on the subject and i wanna see if anyone agrees with me. technically, piracy is illegal with anything, but square isnt making any money of ff7 for pc/psx anymore, so no one really loses any money. i collect final fantasy games, so i do have legal copies of all games except for 13. pirating is about as illegal as j-walking when it comes to games that have been out of production for a long time. however. i do respect the rules of this forum so i willnot talk about pirated games anymore. plz people reply cuz i wanna see if anyone agrees with me.
