Extended Buster Sword Usage in FF7
« on: 2010-07-04 04:44:05 »
After debating where I should put this question, I thought the best place would be here in case anyone else is interested.

Anyway, I would like to use the Buster Sword a bit more rather than switch to a different textured weapon.  I am thinking I need to use LGP Tools in order to change the weapon textures but I will have to do it for all of the weapons, and I am not sure which files correspond to which weapon.

Can someone provide a list of the files that need to be changed in order to have Buster Sword textures for every weapon?  If I need a different program, please correct me.

Thank you very much.

EDIT: I looked at Millenia's Weapon Mod file list and it looks like it is rtck - rtcz for individual weapons I think?  I am assuming that the Buster Sword is the first one, rtck.  Can I just extract the one file then rename it to rtcl for instance then use LGP Tools to paste it that way?

I think someone may be working on improving the Buster Sword so it'll be more useful through out the entire game.

Its easy to do yourself with a tool called "Wall Market". You can either change the stats of the original bustersword to be uber strong, or you can change all the other swords to use the buster sword model...

Well this is what I'm currently getting from his thread
-He wants to use the Buster Sword throughout the whole game
-Basic thought to doing this is replace all sword graphics with buster sword.

AMIRIGHT so far?

My thought is this, didn't Ultima weapon have some coding behind it to change colors depending on health? Then couldn't the buster sword be coded to improve it's stats depending on level?

I've been tinkering around with LGP Tools and the method I mentioned in my initial post seems to be working.  I just renamed the files and and used the replace function in LGP Tools.

For some reason the game is crashing on the world map at the moment but I have some lingering files left over from a mod, which is probably causing conflict.  I will try to see if the problem is related.

EDIT: Cleaned up the files and there only seems to be a slight pause when loading the battles, 1-2 seconds.  Maybe its the newer graphics card I'm using, just got a new AGP card.

There's also other steps to use the buster sword throughout the game. You'll need Wallmarket program. NFITC1 has posted somewhere before about how to do this step which is much faster and easier. :)

You should really ask NFITC1 about this since he's program can tweak about how weapons act in battle.

Gjoerulv has applied this to the buster sword in his mod, read the thread.

This. There's no need to mess around with the lgp files.

Well, while messing around with the Wallmarket program, I discovered that you can change what each of Cloud's weapons to look like the Buster sword by setting their Model ID to 00. Or, you can simply modify the Buster Sword itself. Setting the Model ID to 00 makes it look like the default weapon, I believe.

It didn't have any 'coding'. It just used the damage algorithm Power = Base*(HP/MaxHP). Adding another algorithm would be challenging.

REBIRTH already has a means of making the Buster Sword relevant throughout the game, but I'm going to let you guess how yourselves.
