FF7 Movies are black with Aali's Opengl
« on: 2010-07-14 16:17:03 »
I've been working on FF7 for a day now. I have it customized to where I want it, but I can't get any FMV playback. It says "glitch" after a black screen, then reports how many frames were skipped, or something. Yes, I'm TOTALLY new here, but I have been lurking, and I wouldn't have made it as far as I have (Custom Soundtrack, Characters, etc.) if it wasn't for you guys, so I really appreciate you making it relatively easy.

I have an Acer Aspire 5515 with Vista and an ATI Radeon X1200 (ATI sucks for FF7, I've found this out). Gameplay is fine, had no trouble loading it up at all, surprisingly. Oh, I also have the "real" version of the game, not the Ultima Edition. I'm just trying to work out this last kink and I'm good to go. If you need more info, just ask ;).

I switched to v0.7.3b, solved the video playback problem, and seems to be doing fine for right now. I'm tweaking my graphics card so get optimal performance, and I should be set to play soon.

Ok, I moved this from Tech Support because it deals with a program...so it should go in that program's thread in Programming Feedback.   But now the double posting too?    Please go read the rules.

I felt the post was relevant. "Problem solved, don't worry about replying," is basically what that said. Why have people try and help if I don't need it anymore? Don't be so strict, man.

If you are not corrected then other new members will think its right and will follow you and that will cause chaos here. And you can always just edit your first post saying its solved or edit the name of the thread with [SOLVED].

I can see the logic here, but that's not how it works. Newfags don't read the rules and they don't read any threads that have been posted before they decided to ask their question. That means that no newfags will read this and it will make no difference whether or not he is chastised. There is no "following" when it comes to people who take no time to lurk before diving straight in.

Newfags only learn the rules after they themselves have broken at least one of them; that is the way of the world.

(this isn't directed at Nezdude87, BTW; it's more of a general rant)
