Mix and match gaming.
« on: 2010-07-20 18:03:07 »
Ok, so I sometimes nerd out and mix and match games. Card games, board games, concepts from computer games, etc. Anyways here are some of my bored ideas

Triple Triad (FF8 Mini)+Yugioh: Basically top and bottom of yugioh card is attack and sides are the defense. Usually used risk soldier pieces to differ between the players.

Yugioh set based off final fantasy cards: probably seen alot of these on deviant art.

Final Fantasy Risk: Could be anything and mark event cards to get special characters versus the standard troops you get each turn.

Anybody else come up with random ideas as such when they are bored? What do you think of my ideas.

(I wasn't sure if this belonged in the final fantasy section or not so I went with the safer choice.)

I would like to see an FFIV chess set.  In my mind, it looks like this:

White Pieces:

King = Cecil
Queen = Rosa
Bishops = Rydia
Knights = Edge
Rooks = Kain
Pawns = Whyt (from the DS version)

Black Pieces:

King = Golbez
Queen = Rubicante
Bishops = Barbariccia
Knights = Scarmiglione (second form)
Rooks = Cagnazzo
Pawns = Scarmiglione (first form)

That makes sense but then why not Dissidia Chess

I Wanna Be The King: - the most hardcore Chess game ever

8x12 board. Black player has 6 queens and 2 knights in back (where the knights normally go), and 8 pawns in front. White player has FOUR rows of pieces, like the normal 2 rows in Chess, except doubled over (yes, that means 2 queens, 2 kings, etc). Black wins by getting a pawn all the way to the end of the board. White wins by killing all pawns.

Movement and capture rules are as normal.

That makes sense but then why not Dissidia Chess?

If you wanted to fit all of the main characters, two different characters would have to play the rooks, etc.
It'd be messy and confusing.  Something like this, maybe:

White Pieces:

King = Cosmos
Queen = Shantotto
Bishops = Onion Knight / Squall
Knights = Terra / Zidane
Rooks = Firion / Cloud
Pawns = Warrior of Light / Cecil / Bartz / Tidus (2 pawns each)

Black Pieces:

King = Chaos
Queen = Gabranth
Bishops = Cloud of Darkness / Ultimecia
Knights = Kefka / Kuja
Rooks = The Emperor / Sephiroth
Pawns = Garland / Golbez / Exdeath / Jecht (2 pawns each)

If I were a figurine maker or something, I think I'd actually attempt to do something like this :P

I could maybe make a couple pieces from mixed materials. Smallest possible model made of wood and modelers clay painted. I can go up to a bigger size and add more details. Go up to action figure size if I want. But yeah chess models will be wood and clay.

If I were to make an honest attempt at it, I'd probably do something like this and stick the characters' portraits on top of the pieces.

that actually isn't too bad of an idea (*slaps himself for brain making things too complicated*) we could just do that and probably start dissidia chess matches across the board.... though now I started thinking on it, it might be fun to make a few of the action figures. Just for kicks.

Lol does this count?

When we were kids we made stupid games and one was Freeze Baskerball. It had elements of freeze tag, basketball, baseball,kickball and something else. I cant remember how we actually implemented it but we were smart, and bored, so It was a fun game!

I've played six-way soccer / British football before, where there are six teams and six soccer nets you can score through.  There's also three soccer balls on the field 8) Intense stuff, although no one is bothered to keep track of scoring.

(Actually, it was me and five of my friends feeling bored one day, so we drew out a small, six-goal soccer court and kicked around three tennis balls in a free-for-all game.  But that's hardly any different, right?)
