PlotEdit
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

The World Map of the game, which is directly based on the world of Final Fantasy.
Dissidia 012 will tell the story of the twelfth cycle of battle between the warriors of the gods. According to Siliconera, the game will feature something like the Destiny Odysseys, only they will include Chaos characters as well. During the war, a few of the characters from the previous game were on separate sides, as Terra, Cloud, and Tidus worked for Chaos, Jecht was on the side of Cosmos. The game's main focus is on the new characters and explaining what happened to them, and why they didn't appear in the thirteenth cycle shown in Dissidia.

Sounds pretty awesome, I like how they changed it up but I *DON'T* like how they based the World Map off of FF1s. That means people who played FF1 and finished it 832876 times will know it by heart even if it doesn't use the classic over-head view...maybe a mixture of the world maps from different final fantasy games just replace the towns and stuff etc. That would be pretty neat but i don't know how that would work...

Either they should use FF1's world map or they should create an original one.  FF1 is the only appropriate game in the series to take that from (why should Dissidia happen in a different Final Fantasy world).

If they were to blend all of the maps in the series, the map they'd end up with would be distorted beyond recognition.  Though I would like the idea of creating an original world map that simply incorporated small parts of the world maps from the main series games - for example, the Floating Continent from FFIII, the Underworld from FFIV, the Big Bridge from FFV, the Serpent Trench from FFVI, etc.  I think *that* could work, with a little effort.

I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping this would be some kind of prequel/rewrite.

Also saw that picture of Tifa in her AC outfit a few pages back. Blaaaaa :o she looks really bad although I guess I would rather that then her redesigned whore outfit from Crises Core. (Yes I hate that outfit. Please don't kill me :( )

The worst part is, they almost had it. This piece was well-made, and is being held back by horrible synths that are inappropriate to the parts they're being used for.

Was to be expected though, they did the same thing to the tunes they tried to 'update' in the first game. 'Fighting Further' or whatever it's called from FF7 was just annoying to listen to, IIRC. (Haven't played it in a while)

General ProTip: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Although, maybe SE does have some sense left in them. If they'd remade FF7 with 'remade' music like this, I would have snapped my disc before completing it. Probably. Gladly, that hasn't happened (yet)

If they remade FF7, Uematsu would probably do the music himself, and it would be a lot more pleasing to the ear.

Crapping up, what was originally great music, is just one of the many reasons why I hope they NEVER remake FF7. They would soile it with their unholy lust for profit over story and character development. I know that Advent Children is well loved around here (or it at least seems that way) But I really don't want to see feminine AC looking Cloud, with big boobs Aeris, and Rinoa inspired Tifa, as the main characters. Not to mention that they would most likely change a lot of the the dialog and strip whatever non fan pandering dignity these characters have left.

If she was just to be an assist character, she wouldn't have an options menu ;)

Maybe you can customise assist characters seperately though, i.e how they work, what abilities you want them to perform and what they have equipped. I don't think we should jump to conclusions too soon :P

It says I can't see any of the characters we haven't seen yet there. Also, Chaos looks like he's playable, in more than one form :P
