Thief - The Dark Project was a first person game developed by looking glass studios in 1998 and, rather then follow the plethora of shooters that were around at the time,
it was a game focused on stealth, strategy, and careful planning. It had very large missions giving a player a fairly nonlinear space in which he could explore and hide from
his enemies - and the game's focus was almost that of an "anti-combat" one. It encouraged successfully sneaking past your enemies - but it did not force the player to.
It was perfectly possible to run in head on and take on all of your enemies, albeit with much more difficulty. It combined well thought out, fun missions in a steam-punk
setting with a detailed narrative and excellent stealth gameplay. Some notable features of the game were its diverse use of your bow with many different types of arrows
suited for different purposes (water arrows for putting out torches, rope arrows, etc) and the "light-gem" which shows you how well you can be seen by enemies given
the current lighting level you are standing in, and also being one of the first games where sound is just as important as any other aspect of the game, whether it's the
sound of your enemies, or the sound you make.

This is one game i had a hell of a lot of fun with as a kid. I never had it, so at home i would play the demo, but i played it a lot at a friend's house and it is such a well done game. I wanted to know if any of the community here had played it, or what all of your thoughts on this game were.
