Have uninstalled all display drivers and installed the latest one through the link provided (13.5Beta2)

Well, for only 4 lines need not necessarily [ code ] :)

The problem I see is that the game has obviously works for some time, even with videos.
It may help to delete the "[gamedir]\cache" and "[gamedir]\mods\Bootleg\cache" folders.
So that these folders are not constantly refilled, you can uncheck the "Compress Textures" in the boot loader configuration.

EDIT: That was my 500th post ... and I've slept  :'(

Okay I have done this and faced with the problem of crashing on startup.

Happy 500th post, Komp!  ;D

Daylio try running ff7config.exe again. What are you using to launch the game? The bootloader play button?
Show new App.log, I'm still awake lol

@DAYLIO
Hm ...
Maybe start again "FF7Config" and make all the adjustments and testing?

@Template
That is so sweet with the balloons  :-*

Has any one found a fix for this:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I've installed the most recent .net updated and still nothing.
I asked this once before back around page 40 but never got an answer to it.. or at least not one that I saw.

This is a windows 7 64 machine, admin rights are given to BFE and bootleg, UAC is off.
This machine is my last hope as our other two machines are win 8 and no matter what it always gives the error for needing admin rights when I try to run bootleg, despite the admin rights being given/UAC off.
I also tried the path change and it still didn't work.
Am I just doomed to never have ff7 with mods?

OK now I've had a few drinks so bare with me--you haven't even done the install yet, I'm with ya. I'll think on it.
OK! I have a plan. Can you please uninstall .net 4.5. Let's use 4.0. Microsoft admits things get complicated sometimes with backwards compatibility and so it is worth a shot. I wouldn't suggest this if I hadn't looked at what I'm running and it's 4.0; then remembered going to 4.5 when it came out, having problems, and going back to 4.0. Sorry for the several bogus leads I have tried to give you.

@DAYLIO Very sorry, this is some difficulty with the drivers we installed perhaps, as your card is coming out of date and towards a legacy product (in the AMD way of thinking). As counter-intuitive as it may sound, now we are desperate just to get the game running, so reinstall latest Catalyst driver. That is what AMD says you should run a 5800 series card with. Turn shaders off  :'( See if it will load. If not, I'm out of ideas and can only suggest napalm.

Yep, you are correct can't even install. I've done the initial BFE set up (picking the mods I want and making sure the list is green or yellow) and then I hit run bootleg and BAM .NET error.

So I'll give this 4.0 install a shot tomorrow once I'm back with that machine and let you know the results.

I didn't use the game converter either. I'll try some of the alternate ways to move my steam directory.

Ok, the game is installed now and seems to be working well. I moved my Steam directory and that worked. The one problem I have is that the last few letters or lines of a lot of text are cut off. Cloud picked up a poition and it said "RECEIVED PO" almost like the rest of POTION wouldn't fit in the text box. There's also some weird word wrapping in the text boxes, and the last part of what everyone says is missing. Linking some pictures for clarity. My APP.log file is blank.

I've always wondered what happens when you put translate to English in bootleg, when it's already English. Is that a possibility? Look for another app.log, maybe in your FF7music directory, or Ficedula, something like that, if the game is running theres an app.log with stuff in it somewhere.

I don't see another APP.log in my music folder or ficedula. Where else is it hiding?

edit: searching for it only brings up the empty one.

edit again: sorry for all the edits, how can I tell if it's trying to translate to english from english?

last edit: i see on the BFE where under the Game tab it says "translate text," I have this set to NO CHANGE.

another small album that better illustrates my problem http://imgur.com/a/2ti3U

Those menus look original. The backgrounds should be way nicer than that, too, using bootleg with Omzy field pack installed. I'm guessing you are launching the game with the STEAM launcher or something. Try opening the game from the PLAY FF7 button in the bootloader.exe interface, if you haven't. This also explains why your app.log is empty  :roll:
If you look in your game folder after bootloader is done with it, you'll notice a LOT of .exe files, one each for the 4 launcher languages, another plain rerelease launcher....... and then you will have a nice simple ff7.exe. The ff7.exe is the only one of those that will work with the mods. That ff7.exe file is installed with the official 1.02 patch(from an ORIGINAL 1998 PC game) and both bootloader's "Play FF7" button as well as the launchff7.exe in your ff7music directory point to it.
The truth is, there's a TON of files that can be completely deleted after bootleg on a rerelease install. But I'm not gonna get into the specifics and confuse anybody.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

<configuration>

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

I'm fairly certain the first time I had the issue i had the 4.0 frame work and then then upgraded to 4.5 to see if that would help.
 this may just not be posible on this machine.
How about my other issue of a windows 8 machine having bootleg throw the "needs permissions" error despite having full permissions and UAC being off?

Ya I went to 4.5 to test as well, and no problems. I think I'd probably reinstall windows if it were me but I'm crazy like that. It should work fine on your win7 machine. It should work on win8, too, but I'd really be talking out of nowhere if I tried to advise you any further on these issues. I have no win8 OS to test on and I'm just not really well informed about anything .net or permissions related. I hate UAC, I turn it off the moment windows is built. Perhaps try bootleg on those win8 machines without GameConverter.8 after a complete uninstall from scratch, if you have been using it, or with GC if you haven't. Maybe even try the same thing on the win7 machine. Sorry it's being such a pain.
Here are the C++ packages I have installed. No idea why I have so many or if it's related, but I think it's odd the rerelease wants you to install some of this stuff.

Edit: Oh yay... win 8 for 90 days free... not doing it, Kompass says GC works on win8 and I am going with that.  :wink:

Windows 8 can be downloaded from Microsoft officially. (90 day trial version)
Google that, you may even find the English version, I'm too lazy to do ... :-D

Oh, and my GC works with win 8 (trial version)

I've run into a few problems so far.

1. FMVs did not change, they're the same FMVs as the original game had. I had specifically tried to install mods to change these and not use the originals.
2. Field textures seem to not be changing and appear to be the original textures of the game
3. The retranslation is not applying at all. During the patching process, it came up and failed in normal and various hardcore modes, and trying to reinstall the Menu Overhaul seemed to not work either.
4. At the end of a battle as the camera zooms in on the characters, half the screen is cut off by a black square for a few seconds before changing to the next screen.
5. Sound effects and music are getting split up between my headphones and my computer's speakers when using headphones. When the headphones are unplugged, this is not an issue.

App Log: http://www.mediafire.com/download/nn45cumyfep3jp7/APP.LOG

PC Type: Desktop
OS: Windows 7
CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720 Processor 2.80 GHz

Sorry if any fixes have been posted in this thread about these issues, admittedly I did not look over the entire thread but I did try reinstalling MO while reading the FAQs and that unfortunately did not work.

1. The various video packages are all just different versions of the same movies. They have different scaling and color/darkness qualities, but they are all almost all the same content. Which FMV package did you install in bootleg? I'm interested in the slow codec performance on them and I think my first suggestion would be to change the movie path in bootloader config to the movies folder in Final Fantasy VII/data/movies. Starting with the actual opening movie, those are some of the best examples of these old FMVs in existence. It's one of the few things SE really did to the rerelease at all.
2. The backgrounds? From the FAQ:
➣ I installed FF7 Game Converter from STEP 0, and the FacePalmer field textures don't appear to be working.

    Download Omzy's FF7 Field Textures.
    Extract the "field" folder into the ...\mods\Bootleg folder.
    Edit "Run FFVII-Bootleg.bat" and remove all /AFFINITY F. Save before closing.
EDIT>Whoops, this is only for XP i guess... made no sense to me either way lol, changed in FAQ
3. Don't really understand this issue, none of the names of the characters have been changed at all? The items? What do you mean it fails on various modes? Are you trying to reinstall bootleg on top of itself with different modes? The retranslation itself is a preview and only goes til so far in the game, the name changes and item changes should be permanent tho, unless you reinstall Menu Overhaul (which can be done multiple times after bootleg without uninstalling it) and uncheck the retranslation completely.
4. Known issue, very irritating I know, should be fixed soon (yay)
5. Out of scope. Test with another pair of earphones or another motherboard :roll:

I'm scared to suggest new drivers on a 5700, since I did that with a 5800 last night and the guy said no dice...

My opinion: At least it's running, dude. You win. About the Menu Overhaul thing: What I forgot to highlight is that you need to fix your mods folder. In the Final Fantasy VII\mods\ directory will be 2 folders: Bootleg and DK. Two steps now--

Try opening the game from the PLAY FF7 button in the bootloader.exe interface, if you haven't.

This was exactly my problem. My friend told me to load the game from steam, so I had been. One more question, how do I map my buttons? Steam has a settings page for it, I'm not sure how to do it otherwise.

1. I don't actually remember off the top of my head now (silly, I know) but I remember a mod that utilized movies from the tech demo and Crisis Core for the opening etc etc and had wanted to apply this. I did not try to install the bootleg on top of the bootleg, I know that's bad.
2. Oh well I did forget to try it but yeah I'm on 7.
3. Nothing changes. Basically when I say "fails in various modes", I installed the multiple mods option for different difficulty settings, remastered, etc. In the command prompt during the bootleg install, it showed up with the retranslation failing in normal and hardcore modes for the game.
4. Well that is good to know!
5. Well I've actually had the problem on another pair of headphones. And...yeah...I am not buying another motherboard for FFVII lol. Is there no known fix for this?

Well I've had it running before and a qhimm user actually ended up having to remote into my system and fixing it. There was a major compatibility issue but once he fixed it up everything was fine. Yes, I deleted everything (probably a bad idea). But I just would like to think I can get this working better like it was before lol. And yeah I did the copy from DK to Bootleg thing didn't help.

If AMD wants you on 13.4 that's the current "legacy" driver (polite way for them to say your card is too old to keep up with properly) and that's up to you. I do not want to be responsible telling people to change drivers.
You changed the modpath to bootleg, too? This issue with menu overhaul is almost certainly user error. MO has been tested up the wazoo.
What are you using to launch the game? A file? The bootloader "Play ff7" button?

Edit: BTW people have lots of troubles with multiple difficulty modes. It is not advisable.

I'm fairly certain I changed the modpath to bootleg. I'm not trying to say MO is the issue, it probably was something I did wrong. I was using the bootloader.

Edit: I'm just gonna uninstall and reinstall. Considering multiple difficulty mods isn't advised, I may just do the remastered only. Though I really did like the option of swapping difficulty mods on the fly without having to reinstall.
