SO this tool is about the coolest thing i've ever seen when it comes to modding FFVII.  It makes modding super simple for many already popular mods.

Love.

It.

Two thumbs up!  The mods that replace the models in the game are ay cool but they focus mainly on the playable characters and the npcs.  Are there any mods out there for enemy overhauls?  Like the guard scorpion mod by Team Avalanche!  That was sick.

Keep this up man!

There are really few enemy remodels around, sadly. I'm glad you like.

If I was any good at anything visually artistic I might take a stab at it...  However my skills are limited to music and that's about it.  Still though...  Thank you so much for developing this!

The game doesn't need only visually artists, audio artists would be great too. Ficedula has made a great tool which is able to play ambient sound. Ambient sound would give the game a more liver feeling. The problem is that no one has started such a mod project.

This. Modding isn't all about graphics.

I still have not been able to solve my problem myself... Is it possible that someone uploads his \FINAL FANTASY VII\direct\ folder somewhere so I can look whether my game works if I use the folder of someone else?

Wouldn't change a thing. The direct folder shouldn't be used for normal gameplay, and I don't think any mod uses it, although I can't be sure. Using someone else's folder would not solve your issue, whatever it is.

Onto troubleshooting. Which version of the game do you have, where is the game installed and which OS do you run?

I have the Steam version, the game is installed in E:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII and I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Never knew Ambient sounds is now supported and I'm pretty sure 99% of other people here didn't know too. Maybe a notice should be made about this in Audio Releases thread?  Don't know..

Aye, the game itself has the feature already (the reactor sound as example), but with the tool it is mod independent and do work better (at last I hope so). I had added sound in the field's script to the engines room of the highwind and don't want to play without it anymore.

Did you use the Game Converter? From what I know, this error doesn't mean the direct folder should be used. It just means it failed to find that particular file. However, it does seem like your char.lgp file is broken someone. Can I have the contents of your LastUsed.bp file, found in the Bootleg folder?

Somebody please can help me? The "menu_us.lgp" on data folder, what does it do? It messes with sound on menus? I think that i overwrite it with another menu_us.lgp and now i dont get sounds effects on the menu, only in battles. Where can i get this file without redoing the whole installation? Sorry if this is not the place and for the bad english.

FF7_GameConverter_BC.exe is the correct one for the Steam version. The current built in GC for Bootleg only covers original and 2012 SE versions.

Yes. However, Bootleg's integrated converter will also work on the Steam version if it's not inside any of Steam's folders; if the installation was moved outside of the Steam folder for instance. I will check these settings when I have some time this evening.

One more question, im havind a really hard time to make the field hd textures to work, i've already tried all options on bootleg fresh intalls. The last try, i installed a mix of the mods, maybe the third one. The first field(train) was HD, the ladders too. But before Wall market the majority of fields were vanilla, including Wall Market, its super ugly. So, what is the best option for the field hd textures? Can i change after running bootleg, without a fresh install? If yes, can somebody make a detailed installation instructions on the "best" field mod? The instructions on facepalmer and omzy field pack are horrendous, sorry. By the way, what is the difference between these mods? what is the best? Sorry, i know that its a lot of quetions, but im losing my mind trying to make these mods to work.

That's installing the Menu overhaul with the 9999 Limit break checked if it's not installed, or the other way around. Both will result in what you have.

OOOK, now i get it!

"Shouldn't be a lot of work involved.

I used winRAR to unpack everything and it does it more or less automatically.

The first time I tried to do it, I ended up stuck with folders within folders thinking I needed to manually unpack them... So i started over. I don't remember the order of operations off the top of my head, and I deleted the big file after I was finished.

Basically, you unpack the big rar file you downloaded, then you get a big folder full of more rars. So: select all > right click > extract to a folder of your choice, and I think that's pretty much it, except it took my computer about 5 minutes to unpack them all.

For me, my modpath = DK (the menu overhaul's default)
so the files are in my C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\mods\DK\field directory.

They are organized in folders to tell the game where to look for each scene. Like this one: C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\mods\DK\field\ancnt1\ancnt1_00_00.png

Hope that helps! That's just how it worked for me."

Thanks Template! I forget to unrar the folders on field directory.

What Anti virus are you using?  Some Anti virus programs check the FF7.exe or whatever as a trojan and delete it automatically.  You need to go into the programs area of the anti virus' settings and exclude/allow the file needed to be passed.  It worked for me and I have Norton.

I have Mcafee and i disabled protection and exclude that files, the problem is i cant find any file named ffvii.exe my game folder it only have those: FF7_Launcher.exe, ff7_fr.exe, ff7_es.exe, ff7_en.exe, ff7_de.exe and the game runs fine when i execute it

Bootleg will convert the 2012 SE Store version to the 1998 version when ran. Where is your game installed? Not just the Program Files are system folders. Also where are the mods and Bootleg?
