Hey Peoples! I'm new to the Boards here and the entire FF7 Editing Idea but I'm gonna mess around with the stuff and see what I can come up with. I have previously edited games like Jedi Knight and some Unreal Tournament. So Editing itself isnt new to me. If any of you have any good suggestions for me, send them over.

Fetch me my Beer Nuts.   >:\

Well, maybe not.

I'd look through the Tech Forum, and dig way back into the scuppers of time to get a grasp on what we're all chittering about.  It's what I had to do.  That, and look like an idiot most of the time.  @_@  Feel free to get a hold of me on AIM if you've got any questions, I might be able to help.  Or not.

Alright [/end pointless drivel]

And welcome, btw.

welcome :)

milkshape is excellent for editing the models.

last time i made an LGP, i had to extract EVERY file and make a new one..... have you fixed that, fice?

look in the tech forum for editing field files and such, but some good documentaton can be found at both ficedula's and alhexx's sites for file formats and archives.

I'm thinking of compiling all that stuff and making sort of an "Idiot's Guide to FF7 modelhax0ring" or something.  Not so much as the binary / hexediting details, but more along the lines of how to use the various stuff to fiddle with the models.  Still thinking about it, tho.

And I just use Ultima for my Model work.

AFAIK, you can drag and drop files into LGP tools

Uh...No?

To create a new LGP, you need to have a folder with the same number of files as one of the actual LGPs.....if I read the readme correctly.  I've never tried.  Advanced Editing sure isn't Drag & Drop, either @_@

*Points out the LGP Patching tools in LGP tools.*

Personally, I like to extract the models & rebuild them in Lightwave. I have yet to try exporting a Lightwave model to FF7...

Oh and the Ficdula.dll file is on Fice's site. I got it myself not too long ago...
