I've had beta access for awhile now. I may play this weekend to see how populated this phase is with the PS3 beta opening. Other than that, I don't have a lot of motivation to play an MMO again.

I'm playing on my PS3 and i'm really enjoying it so far! It plays really well on the PS3, although i can't compare to PC. I do know that my PS3 plays it better than my laptop would for sure. I just hit level 3 and I have to say, it's been pretty fun thus far.

Can't play the PS3 beta, code doesn't work, I guess it's because I'm not in the US.

Part of the reason it took me so long to get into the beta was having keys for different regions. Today i got an email saying I was accepted and while I was entering the new key I was saying to myself "Well, this isn't going to work, AGAIN." But to my delightful surprise, it finally worked. I don't know why or how I finally got the right code, but i'm glad I did. I just kept applying. Oh, I made like three accounts too haha. It was a ridiculous two month process.

I started playing on my PS3 and then last night I downloaded it on my laptop. I was able to play my character I made on the PS3 on my laptop. Pretty frickin cool.

What's your world and character name?

I made Alyza on Leviathan, but I can always switch world's to play with Qhimm folks.

I'm playing on Cerberus and my toons name is Lady Sophira lol.

EDIT: So the Beta only runs on the weekends? I tried logging in today and it wouldn't let me. After some research everyone is saying it ended today. So I finally get to play (like a day n a half) and they take it it away! I'm super bummed haha.

It's different, but that's Japan. I suppose it's done this way because school/work schedules in Japan are pretty much sunrise until sundown, so working/testing the game isn't an option until the weekends. I don't know for sure, but that's my assumption.

All of their beta testings will take place only on the weekends, Japan time. So they start Friday for the US, since that's Saturday for Japan. They end on Sunday in the US, since that's Monday for Japan. This Phase 3 will last several weeks, so you will have more 2-day weekends to play.

Thanks for info EQ. I'm not as upset anymore haha. But really, I will be buying the game in August. I thoroughly enjoyed what I have played thus far and I think I read that you will get 30 days free upon purchase. Now, is it next weekend yet?    :-P

August will be here before we know it, so it doesn't upset me either.

One thing I've noticed for this phase compared to the previous two phases are the graphics. With everything maxed out, they have been scaled down, and I have a feeling it's due to the PS3. I wonder how this will pan out at launch and and for the PS4 launch next year because I figured max settings were good and shouldn't have changed, and instead presets should have been made suitable for the consoles and lower end computers. I'm going to keep an eye out on this because they do tend to make drastic changes between each weekend.

This is a bizarre change. I can totally understand using lower settings on PS3, but changing the PC's max just for the PS3 seems excessive, especially if it's also coming out for PS4.

Of course they do this right before I build my new beast haha. I won't mind playing on the PS3 though. While obviously it didn't look as good as it did on my laptop (at lowest settings lol) it played perfectly and i'm fine with that.

EDIT: So at level 10 I guess is when you can start working on different classes. What I didn't realize is some of my spells weren't hot keyed anymore and i totally died. Just a warning for anyone playing, not level ten yet haha.

I think at level 10 is when you can pick another starting class to begin leveling and mix-and-match your abilities. Switching between the classes is done by switching your main weapon.

Classes:
  • Disciples of War – Gladiator, Pugilist, Marauder, Lancer, Archer
  • Disciples of Magic – Conjurer, Thaumaturge, Arcanist
  • Disciples of the Hand – Crafters
  • Disciples of the Land – Gatherers

Separate from classes are jobs, where it's formed by a combination of level 30 for one class and level 15 for another. For example, the White Mage job is formed with a level 30 Conjurer and a level 15 Gladiator; the Black Mage job is formed with a level 30 Thaumaturge and a level 15 Pugilist, etc. They do have plans for more classes and jobs in the future, with Scholar being the first confirmed job for the launch of the game. Musketeer is a speculated class, but no confirmation can be given at this time.

I played maybe 2 hours of this on PS3, while not as bad as XI was, it's still pretty bad and I doubt I'll give it another go.

Guys what guys I bring good tidings.  I just got my beta key and they lift the restrictions on the character creation and the old and new Girdinia.  I'll be using fraps to show you guys the creation when the thing finishes patching.

Use the "open broadcaster software" since it's lighter and free open source software. I can mail you the right settings if you want.

Here's an example capturing from "pcsx2" emulator

FYI, the beta servers only open on the weekends. I need to check the beta forums to make sure this is true, and if so, I can showcase some video as well. I'll try Leonhart's software  :)

I believe this is so aswell EQ.  After patching I couldn't launch it.  What class are you going with so I don't repeat it?

Either Archer for ranged damage or Conjurer for healing, but I'm not entirely sure. I don't really play beta to play, I play beta to test and sight-seeing  :)

I've recently started this game. I'm an Arcanist L17->18 at the time being in Lich EU server. If anyone wanna join me my name is Squellf Leonhartgr. I hate those robes though because i can't see the characteristics of my character, which I spent some time creating, but they seem to be strong for a battle gear...

Don't worry about the ugly robes. I feel the same. Prettier stuff comes at the higher levels  :)
