Music Stopped Working
« on: 2013-03-23 23:33:49 »
Hey Folks,

Couldn't find much on this exact issue, except for this thread:

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13991.msg196287#msg196287

I'm having this same issue. I used Bootloader 0039. Game plays perfectly. I saved at the 'Gym' in the Shinra building a few days ago, and when I play now, I have no music (sound fx are still working).  Again, everything worked perfectly until this point.

I run the game using FF7 Bootloader. The Music plugin box is checked, and the path is:  /plugins/ff7music.fgp

I noticed in that same plugins folder there is also a ff7music.fgb. This did not work either.

I tried starting a new game as well, and the music works during the opening FMV, but then it stops.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

The music during the opening is part of the movie and is separate from ingame music. Try installing FF7Music separately using Covarr's installer. I don't know if it will help but that's what I would try first.

I don't really recommend my installer anymore. Not only is it already included (with some much needed fixes) in bootleg, but the version available separately might be down, and is definitely broken.

Indeed it is, that's just the only thing I thought of. Kman, what input and output are you using in FF7Music? Try a MAD and vgmstream combination.

Thank you for the response.

Right now I've got:

Input: in_vgmstream.dll
Output: out_wave.dll

I'll give the combo you mentioned a shot and see if that helps.

Still no luck.

When configuring the input and output in FF7Music I have these options:

For inputs, I can choose - in_mad, in_psf, and in_vgmstream

For outputs, I can choose - out_ds and out_wave

I tried every combination of these but nothing works. Sound effects are still good, but no music. Unless there isn't any music in the 'Gym' floor of the Shinra building, but I seem to remember there is music there.

Are there any other suggestions? Thanks again,

Shaun

For inputs, as long as they're all in the same folder, it shouldn't matter which one you choose.

Every level of the Shinra Building should be playing sinraslo.mp3 (or .ogg) IIRC. Actually, I remeber one time where music suddenly stopped playing and I found out that FF7Config had forgotten my sound driver and the selection box was blank so I had to reselect it. Go into FF7config and go to the Sound tab and reselect your sound driver.

Hi kman1981

You can try my FF7Music folder.
Simply extract in the game folder, open the [gamefolder]\Ficedula and create a link from 'FF7Music.exe' onto the desktop.
You can start the game now with this link.

More information can be found in the '#readme'.
