Eh, I won't fault it too much for its genericness, considering that most of the CoD franchise's most generic aspects are things they did first and everyone else copied. A bigger issue is that they really haven't brought anything significantly new to the table since 2007.
The no-skill thing is a huge problem though. They have intentionally compressed the gap between skill and lack thereof to the point that if you can play at all, you can hold your own against people who know the game inside and out and have been playing for years. Lowers the barrier to entry, and encourages extra sales on new games, because people know they can go right in and do well at multiplayer immediately.
