FFX OST

Does anybody knows (a good site) where I can get FFX OST on the Net? So far I've only found 2 MP3s, one is the overworld and the other is suteki da ne... quite impressive.. now I'm dying for more!!  :)

Oh and btw, when I was searching for the MP3s, I saw a website mentioning that FFXI will need a really  fast comp.... wonder if that was true. Anyway, here are the 'recommended specs' for FFXI (I am not sure if it is true though!)

P3 800MHz (P4 recommended)
128MB of RAM
4.56 GB of HDD (Gasp... wonder if it is believable or not!)
64MB GeForce3

I doubt that it is true, but it still might be true if it is a Maximum Installation .... about Graphics... I'm not sure. I doubt it....  :-?

800 mhz?  I think you'll need more than that.  I'd say at least 1 ghz.
800 mhz could probably do it if your video card is fast enough, I guess.  It'd be close.

128 MB RAM?  Try 256 at the MINIMUM.

4.56 GB HD?  That's a little excessive, but the game IS a DVD game...
(Also, you'll most likely need a DVD drive to install/play the game.)

GeForce3/GeForce4 TI/Fast Radeon are definately necessary.

Edit by Jari: Sorry, no mp3/warez links.

Ahhh I've been to Audioforce b4, and I had some problems downloading it... after reading the guide... I've managed to download
Thanks anyway,  :)

As for FFXI, yeah... needs a DVD-ROM.... but I won't buy it .....  :P because:
1. Monthly fee... can't afford it  :(
2. My GFX card isn't powerful enough
3. I don't have a DVD-ROM drive  8)

I dont think so Zophixan. Those mp3s are shown on public server, there are not hidden in any way, so i think that they are put there with agreement of authors.

If I sold it, then it might be considered as a crime....

I'm just listening to it..... nothing serious right....?? And after all, like they said, it's from the public server.. they're not hidden/warez.

And anyway it's not easy to get any FF stuffs in UK to be honest, and I don't have a credit card to purchase anything online (Anyway, I don't buy things online.......)

I hope you don't take me too serious...

Playing with irony can be fun, but just for clarity's sake:

It is NOT legal to download mp3s of commercial albums unless specifically given permission from the publisher (almost never happens, people). Listening is not illegal, not paying for it is. Taking and using a product without paying for it, well yes, that does sound like stealing to me. It's criminal! Stolen music isn't any more legal just because it's on a more well-designed page, just as stolen merchandise doesn't suddenly become legal because it's being sold in the open.

And personally, I'm a bit offended by people who claim to be fans of Uematsu & Co but steal his music instead of supporting it. Granted, I don't own all the OSTs of my mp3s, but I do own a majority of them -- I've paid for it, money which in large part goes to Square Sounds, affirming Uematsu and his music.

Oh, and to restate what I want / do not want on this forum. Please do not post links to illegal material, or help how to find it. Especially not things that obviously damage Square, the sole reason this forum exists. Moderators are instructed to remove posts/topics upon sight (this topic excluded, naturally). Understood?

If people in this topic (as I hope) were in fact being sarcastic about the downloading of copyrighted material, then you will surely not be offended by this. If you weren't, then I'd appreciate it if you keep your illegal habits off this forum. Thank you.

I won't argue about that, because no matter what, you are right.
Anyway, I won't post any websites or whatsoever which will damage Square whatsoever....

Guess I shouldn't have asked about it anyway.....  :(

(was just desperate to listen to music that's all... )

Oh well.  I just bought the Tales of Phantasia OST (excellent, btw).

[Edit]
Heh, some admin has already removed the link.  :-p
Sorry about that, someone asked and I posted without thinking :-p  I'll try not to do that again.

Really?  Cool.  I got it too. Well, technically, if you consider an SPC archive an OST :P.

Check out this remix of "Fighting of the Spirit" by the same guy who did that rock remix of the FF6 Boss theme I posted about  a while back.  By the way, the guy's known on the VGmusic Forums as "Braxus", and he's done a lot more stuff than this.

Tales of Phantasia -- Fighting of the Spirit (SIZE: Approx. 4megs)

Ok, here's the kicker:  The above remix was done IN MIDI FORMAT on a Yamaha XG MU1000 synth, what you're hearing is an mp3 recording of his synthesizer!  And yes, the "pick slides" were done in MIDI as well.  NO custom sample-type synths were used to do this.  Now, that, in my book, is AMAZING!! :D

Note:I copied the link from when Braxus himself posted the link on the forums, so I don't think this is as illegal as previously discussed, since the owner himself originally made the link public.

The FF8 OST sheet music is published by Doremi, while FF8 PC sheet music is published by Yamaha. That aside, well, the FF8 OST sheet music is meant to sound like the OST (and sometimes it does), while the FF8 PC sheets sound like the FF8 PC songs. Well, not "sound like", they are the exact transcription of them.

Ah yes, the sheet music. Quite a cool aspect of the extreme merchandise fever in Japan. I have the sheets for FFV-FFX, FFVI PC, FFVIII PC, FFIX PC, FFX PC, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana (beautiful music that), and some other games, too. So yes, I'm a bit of a music freak in that department

[EDIT: By sheets, of course, I mean purchased, imported, official, printed books. Nothing else   ]

Heh, well, I didn't know until I actually recieved the CDs that every last one of the songs on it had been completely re-done.  None of them sound like the SNES version, they're all better :-p  So an SPC archive won't really do it justice (especially since I can't get "The Second Act" to sound right as an SPC, and it's probably my favorite song in there...)

I don't think they're orchestrated or anything though, still synthesized.  Done some fancy stuff to it though.

[Edit]
Downloaded that MP3... very nice :-p

Yeah, I still have the FF6 Boss Remix thing.  Does this guy have a site or anything with all his music?  I'm definately interested in hearing more of it.

[Edit II]
I guess http://gmn.braxus.net/layer3/ will work.  His main site doesn't seem to have any links to music...?

He knows, and its because he hasn't simply gotten around to it.

However..... If you head over to WWW.vgmusic.com/forums and run a search on stuff posted by "Braxus", you may find a bit more.

Kendrilian, join the club. Everyone else at the VGmusic forums can't wait for his next song either.

Now, you all remember the aforementioned FF6 Boss Battle remix by him?  He had also posted the MIDI transcription of it, it's the same exact file his synth played in the mp3 recording, XG SysEx and all.

I checked it out in my sequencer, and boy, was there a lot of SysEx messages.  Naturally, since I use XG hardware myself (I think my hardware is in the MU80 class of synths, but I'm not sure), I gave the MIDI file a spin on my system.  Unfortunately, the MU1000 class uses some newer SysEx messages that my hardware can't understand completely, like how to tweak the distortion effect, and so on.  I was definitely getting Distortion effects, but my hardware's understanding stopped there.  Apperantly he also used the SysEx to do volume stuff too, because it was just totally way off, and my card wasn't sure how to correctly do the pick slide effects.

Then again, the synth he uses, AFAIK, has a 20meg wavetable ROM where his instruments are stored, whereas mine is a 2meg ROM.

Heh.  I'd like a sound card with nice XG support.  SoundBlaster Live! isn't really terribly great when it comes to MIDI (I actually prefer the Yamaha XG Synth that came with FF7 for MIDI, but alas, no support for it in 2K/XP -- which reminds me, if anyone knows of a Yamaha / future Yamaha synth for 2K/XP, I'd love to hear about it :P).

Yamaha cards, like the SW1000 XG or whatever, seem to be rather expensive :P

Heh, mine only cost a measly $45.  And that was nearly two years ago!

As for the support it provides, it's on par with the XG software's maximum settings that came with FF7, except since its hardware based there's practically NO drain on the cpu.  The only thing the XG software that came with FF7 has that's better than my hardware, is that it has a LOT more bass in it.

Oh yeah -- just remembered.  You know how Yamaha's premiere softsynth availible for download is the S-YXG100?  It works with FF7, and has slightly better response time.  Perhaps you should look into using that, if it turns out it can work under 2000/XP.

Hmm, what card do you have?  :-p

Anyway, it says...
Quote
Download Windows 95/98/ME Version

I don't see a 2K/XP download, and I don't see anything saying it'll work in 2K/XP (but the fact that it says ME leads me to believe that 2K was around when they made it, meaning there may be a 2K version around somewhere).

[Edit]
Ah yes, I definately found something that says it is incompatible with 2K/XP.  Oh well...

You'd think that they [Yamaha] would figure out that the world is moving towards NT-based OS's and release a synth for it :P

My card is known as "Maxi Sound Fortissimo", and its made by (spelling might be incorrect here) Guillemot, which is the same company behind the "Hercules" line of gfx cards, if I'm not mistaken.

But yeah, my card is a real steal.  It can handle nearly every 3d sound API with the exception of A3D 2.0 and 3.0.  Its a 4.1 card, and it has an optical digital port.  And, this thing came out in 1999 with those features, for cryin' out loud!

Whoever decided to price technology like that at $45 wasn't thinkin' straight.....

So ya, I'm really happy with it.

8meg ROM?  That's gonna be a mite more advanced than mine :P.

But yeah, it's been speculated that it'll output the 4.1 signal thru it's optical Digital output, as well as its two analog outputs.
