Don't sweat it. Fice's site is now up, but things like this happen all the time. Just be patient for now.

Not to sound too rude Rubicant, but this topic was posted a month ago... and moderators do not like replies on topics which are one month old.... just to tell you that.....  :)

Too true ;)

My site is horribly out of date at the moment. It's partly to do with the fact that my server's down, and the whole site is like 50MB+ ... and I'm *not* uploading that to somewhere else via a 56K modem. In a months time I get back to uni, though, and (hopefully) my server goes back up.

Well, I think that's the disadvantage of home-servers... however, I'm looking forwards to see an update on Fice's page :D

Once I get my server running (takes less than 1 hour) I wouldn't mind providing a mirror for your site, ficedula.

..and isn't posting the entire point of using a forum? If you post, you are posting to gain a higher amount of posts. It's just built in with the system. It's not like I'm spamming your board about some fake penis enlargement program just to get more posts.

Why do you care? Obviously if someone is posting here they know for a fact that their rank is going to go up. What..you expect people to think twice about posting because they might seem greedy for post ratings? I really think you are rationalizing this entire situation.

Someone lock this topic, please.

I envisioned the rank system as a way to tell both how long a user has been here and the amount of meaningful posts he's made. At the time I was trying to implement a proper feedback ranking system into the levels, but it's not there now. But Jari is right, anyone who posts useless/near-useless stuff just to try and boost his post count (and thus level), it really just making a mess for himself. The other members will hardly gain any confidence in his postings, and maybe not even take him seriously after a while. For horror example, read Joey's old posts.

This has been a public service announcement, thank you for your time.  :)

Rubicant: Well, just think of it like this ... we don't want posts cluttering up the forum that serve no purpose. It's annoying to come on via a 56K modem and find 100 new posts to read, most of which are useless (which doesn't tend to happen on this forum, BTW).

And if you're offering mirror space then I'll consider it ... as an absolute /minimum/ I'd need 30MB web space and PHP scripting; MySQL access would also be good (I can get that myself from the uni, so anything worse isn't worth using).

Mental note: talk to uni tech officer about whether the new server is working yet...

Well, I've got to agree with you. When you want to post, you've gotta post something useful. Am I wrong, or do I remember someone posting just smilies? And am I wrong, or did Qhimm reset her post count to 0 (or even less)?? It's a pity we use that php2 board. On the old one, the php1 one, you could see her having -4 posts at all ... that's bitter.

So, Rubicant, if you have got something to say (and until now, you always had), so post it. If you are just posting a huge amount of dots and/or smilies w/o any text which says what you want to say, this post'll be useless ... and as a mod, it's our job to remove these useless posts, or, at least, see that this won't happen again...

(whoa)

Alhexx: I have had important things to say for a while...and I have NOT made any posts of simply smilies and dots.

I was just helping out a guy not realizing that it was an old post. I'm sorry if I've offended you by doing that. Did you ever think for a second that when I said "trying to raise my post amounts" that I was joking?

I really don't see what you are getting at. Are you basically saying that from now on everything I say on this forum is meaningless? I did ONE thing that angered you guys slightly and I get scolded like a child. I have never posted ridiculous posts that waste space on here and never will. I respect your objectives with FF games, and wouldn't purposely try to hurt you all.

..or are you just screwin with me?

We never said you thought your posts were worthless.

We're just saying that this is not the attitude we're going for.  You're supposed to post because you have something to say, not because you want to raise the little post count number or rank.

We didn't say you were really guilty of this though, just try not to revive too many old threads looking for opportunities to post.

All right good thing we cleared the air on that one..

This is a little off topic though: Anyone ever noticed that in-battle Rufus somewhat looks like Seifer(minus the gunblade)?

Rubicant: It seems like we have a little misunderstanding here. I wanted to say that until now, everything what you have posted had a sense. And I hope that this will stay so. I just wanted to warn not to start posting crap. If you continue like before, you have nothing to worry about.
