Re Release Frame Rate
« on: 2013-08-27 01:26:32 »
Hello Qhimm. (Somewhat) returning member here.

I'm just getting done moving and it seems I have, after close to 10 years I finally lost my PC version of FF7.
So I decided to give Square some more of my money and I bought the FF7 re release off of their store. After.... a few problems I got the game installed and everything works right.
Except....
FMV's run fine, but during gameplay the frame rate is like, double what it should be. It's really annoying and no one else seems to be having this problem.
The Qhimm Forum was always helpful in the past, so.... anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'm running Windows 8 by the way.
Edit Edit: It seems I may have fixed my own problem. I found the Game Converter program and used it on my copy. It was still going too fast, however a quick look in the custom drivers config had and option to use the old games frame limiting method. I used that and it seems to have worked! Now about that music...

The videos have their own frame rate (usually 15 FPS, 4 have 30 FPS).
If you set the "show_fps" option to yes in the "ff7_opengl.cfg", you can watch this.

My Game Converter does not change the frame rate of the videos.

Which option do you mean?

Tell me more ...

In ff7_opengl.cfg,under advanced options there's

# replace FF7's default framelimiter timer source
use_new_timer = yes

I switched it to off and that fixed the frame rate

I can set the options (use_new_timer & use_stable_timer) as I want, it does not change the frame rate of the video  ???
But if the problem is solved for you so it should be alright  :)
