Anime = Ranma 1/2

Back in High School, I had a friend who was one of those blissfully ignorant worshippers of Japan, importing her Anime and Manga, and whatnot.  Then one day I bring in a book on War Plan Orange (Which basically points out that the overall strategy used in the Pacific Theater of WWII was conceived of in the 1890's).  Needless to say, at some point she brings up the Atomic Bombs, and gets fustrated when her love of anime can't hold against my logic, and ended up getting thrown out of the library.  :P  Haven't talked to her since.

And speaking for myself (And being American), I take no offense, Qhimm, and wholeheartedly agree with you.  And the only reason the US really shows any interest in the Middle East squables, is
a) In a fit of Holocaust-induced Guilt, we (and some other countries) decided to establish a homeland for Jews;  but neglected to take into account the people who were already there.   "Whups."
b) American society is dominated by Soccer Moms who have evolved from driving around in Station Wagons, to Minivans, and now cruise around in the largest, most expensive, top-heavy, gas-guzzling and view-of-the-road-to-anyone-stuck-behind-one deathtraps known as the "SUV", and God forbid they have to worry about where the gas comes from when they say "Fill 'er up".

There's no benevolence or charitable concern on America's part in anything going on in the Middle East;  just Enlightened Self-Interest.

And to anyone who owns a SUV, and doesn't live out in the middle-of-nowhere Montana or some other location without proper roads and such...

Stuff the kids in the back of the Station Wagon like I had to put up with when I was wee.  I don't feel like getting drafted someday, just to fuel your Ego, and your Grand Cherokee >:|

And since Qhimm brought it up, Public Education is the single greatest Waste known to Man.  Over here, anyway.  New York started introducing "higher standards" in the form of longer and more complicated State Regents Exams...But when they got back test results saying something along the lines of only %20 of those who were going to take them would pass, they lowered the passing grade to 55%.  Most schools (including my own) also got around the new regents their own way, by having the students take them half-way through the year, instead of as finals (when the new ones were to debut)

How much of the People's Money went into that whole debacle?  Don't remember offhand, but knowing the government, probably a few million, at least.

What actually changed?  Nothing, as far as I could tell.

The best quote to describe America nowadays is the classic;

Beware of Stupid people in Large Groups.

the unhealthy (and in many cases, ignorant) obsession with japanese culture that's seemed to have taken root among America's younger generations

I agree with this. Took a part of mee too, but only a very small part.

I just don't understand. Majority of the English are generally nice. Not all of them though.  (Especially to us Asians)
I can't understand why there are racists.

Its not only in England, i feel it here too. Some stupid people are mean to people that are 'not just like them'. Sadly, you can't do anything with that. Ignorance is best way.

Yes Mirex I agree with you ignorance is the best way. After all they are just minorities, not majorities, I can't be bothered.

Most of the English people think I'm Japanese, when the fact I am not. They say "Konichiwa" to me or "Arigato". As if as I don't know what they're saying. Probably I should say "Anatawa baka" to them  :)

Patience and ignorance. Not everyone in this world is nice. Heh heh. I'm lucky to have some nice English friends in my school.  :)

There's very lilttle racism in the area I live in.  You do get some losers who say stuff, but they take the piss out of everyone so nobody really cares about them. I've lived in Winchester all my life and I've recieved hardly any racist remarks, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I have to agree with Qhimm and Shinra Inc. about americans.  I don't mean all americans, since some are not that stupid.  But the majority of the americans are just too materialistic, and have that sense of being "better than anyone else" type of attitude.

And I too hate SUVs, and anyone who uses an SUV for themselves just to go to school and/or work should be shot to death for being idiots.

The mentallity of an american is that they think that the bigger the better.  If you don't look big, then you are considered a weakling.  They look at things very superficially, and this I am sure will lead to a downfall of this country.  I will like to see what will happen when all the young idiots that are failing school get outside in the real world, I wonder if some will become leaders O_O.

I'm not racist or anything like that, but americans are fools for an audience.  So far, they have been the most whining, arrogant, stupid, selfish, disrespectful, and many other things.

Let's see... the VHS tapes I have are: "Smells Like Evil Spirit" from the "Hard Battle" series, (I'm sorry, I don't know much about the Ranma 1/2 numbering system...) "Tough Cookies", and "The Breaking Point" from the "Anything-Goes Martial Arts" series (which I'm assuming is the first series, cause I have both of those episodes in manga form, and I'm collecting those in order. I think I'm up to book 9 in my collection...)

I also have a friend with a Ranma DVD... Something about Watermelon Island...
