The attack he does is exactly as Cid's Hyper jump, I looked for a fix in the Solved section of the forum but I didn't find any.

Almost had him last time but due to this bug/glitch the game froze and I had to restart the game, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jon, here's a link to the patch: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5prw0d9vvgkgham/FF7%20Modron%20Patch.exe

It's an .exe and should have admin permissions as standard. Just run that and point it to the battle folder in the FF7 data folder (turns out the kernel doesn't need patched for this, which is handy). Make sure to double-click the battle folder so that the folder icon pops open, so it's properly selected. Anyway, I changed the Modron animation to Hyper's animation which should work better. Avoid using Cid's Hyper Jump, though...
