FF8 Crashes randomly, Just started playing..

So I just beat Ifrit, and my game crashes once I started leaving the Cave..

"FF8 stopped working.."

uhh wtf.. anyone help..

it's not my computer, using a 2014 Leveno, NVIDIA GTX 730, tons of ram, other specs are solid ect.

FF8:

Verison 1.0.11
1920 x 1080 60hz
Full Screen
(I DISABLED: Linear Filtering, Keep aspect Ratio, Orginal Graphic Mode.)
(I also UNCHECKED "Disable Screen Overlay While In Game" Under properties in the Steam Library.)


Mods:

Tonberry - Textures: Project Eden, Tripod, SeeD Reborn.
I did replace the Hashmap files with the ones you can download in the Tonberry Topic.
I followed the Youtube Tutorial, so I did everything how it should be.

If you're running the game through Steam, you don't need the 1.02 patch. I sadly have no experience with the Steam version (I don't have it, and haven't got much money to spare recently).

We are still lacking some information. What was the error message? When exactly did it crash? Can you replicate it, and does it always crash under the same conditions, or is it random?

First the game will freeze and the graphics will go "hay-wire" some big black boxes will show up and then it will minimize and a little white box in the center of my screen will say "Unknown Error Has Occured".

Then the Windows box with the "Final Fantasy 8 Has stopped working", with the green fast loading bar.

It's completely random, I passed the parts both times it has crashed. It just worries me because I am afraid I will have to re-do tons of stuff if I haven't saved or can't save in a while.

Maybe verifying game cache and/or re-downloading the game would fix it. You could also try installing to a different drive, or run CHKDSK on your drive Steam is installed on. To run CHKDSK, open Computer, right-click your drive, click the Tools tab, and in the Error-checking area, hit "Check Now". Tick "Check on next boot" (or something similar, don't remember exactly), then restart your computer.

Sorry for the bump, but this happened to me as well. I was fighting two lizards (where you get Carbuncle), the text around the ATB/HP and MP bars went black (the entire HUD) had black squares. I beat the boss, but the game went blank and music kept playing. I don't know what caused it, is there anything I can do to prevent this, and yes, it's running on Steam. a
