This is my first post here, and I have a question, In FF8, on disk one, just as the Sorceress is leaving in the parade, in the cinema, Irvine and Squall notice the gate is open, they start running, and just as I pass behind this fat guy, the game freezes, is my disk scratched or something? Also, I need the MFC70.DLL or something.. ^.^;;;

 hello all!

And uh, welcome to the board. For your question about the FMV freezing, I'm sorry but I have no clue what's going on. (Probably stating your PC specs *might* help)

As for you posting in the 'wrong' forum... well it doesn't matter I think considering that you are a new member.... but just a hint: the first question should've went into the 'Game Tweaking' forum (but since you are new after all, I think this is understandable.)

Also, try avoiding double posting.... as you would realise there is an edit button (top corner right of your post) which allows you to modify the original post. Hope these hints help!!

And welcome to the board... where the best FF programmers/ gamers meet (I'm not kidding here  :wicked: )

NiteSaiya, I have a question for you, first.  Are you male of female?  Next, I had a problem like this when I started FFVIII on my computer.  I couldn't get past the part where Quistis comes into the room... the 1st movie after the introduction.  Ermm... I dunno what I did to fix it though... I forgot... Maybe Aaron remembers.

...I'm not sure where you're at....but there is a part where you are running from left to right....the camera is moving, and you have to push right to keep up with the camera/panning...and if you don't....I think the camera stops?....can't remember.

Maybe your just not running along with the camera? If that case, you have to hit the right arrow key.

Start>Program>Accessories>System Tools>System Information

Another alternative would be checking your FF8Config... but that won't really show your system specs.

I've confused you I think..... FMV does not mean cinemas, FMV stands for Full Motion Video (or whatever it stands for).

Try putting your movies on low res. That fixed my FMV problems.

I think there's no way it's anything besides a CD-scratch or data error problem, but I could be wrong.  Anyway, yes, putting the movies on low-res (you can take that option off afterwards) or using a different CD may fix the problem.  If not... then I'm wrong :-p

Take the cd and hold it up in front of a bright light bulb.  If you see ANY light at all coming through, even a pinpoint, you are missing data.  That was my problem.

Get a disk doctor to clean your cds.. in the States you can find them at Circuit city Suncoast .. even Staples might carry them..  Best buy? but they work really well..
