trouble repacking lgp file to use battle models.
« on: 2014-12-30 13:43:28 »
I am having trouble repacking my battle files back into an lgp file. I used unlgp to extract my lgp just fine but i can't for the life of me figure out how to put it back together. So i searched on here and google and find this helpful post.

"Make a folder on your desktop called Aali and save the lgp.exe and unlgp.exe in it.
Go to C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\data\battle and copy the battle.lgp to the folder on your desktop.
Open a CMD window and type in "cd Desktop\Aali" and press enter. (without quotes)
Type in "unlgp battle.lgp" (without quotes)
Make a new folder called battle.
Copy ALL the files you just extracted (not the .lgp files or the lgp/unlgp, only the files that were extracted (it's usually around 11140 files and are usually four letter words)) into the battle folder.
Copy and paste whatever files into the battle folder and be sure to overwrite them.
Open the CMD window again and type in "cd Desktop\Aali" to get to the folder again. (without quotes)
Type in "lgp battle new_battle.lgp" (without quotes)
Wait until it is finished then backup your battle.lgp in your Final Fantasy VII\data folder. This can be done by renaming the battle.lgp file to backup_battle.lgp.
Once it's backed up, rename new_battle.lgp to battle.lgp and move it to Final Fantasy VII\data."

But when I get to the last part: Type in "lgp battle new_battle.lgp" I get a prompt from cmd saying "lgp" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

Can anyone help me out please just 2 seconds of your knowledge would really make my day.

I used the Aali tool quite a lot, and I think the problem is either that the 'lgp' prog is in the wrong place, or that it doesn't like that under-score (_) you've used for the new name. The last thing it might be is that you've not entered the new folder's actual name when recompiling.

So give these a go:

-) Try moving the 'lgp' thingie out of the new battle_lgp folder and keeping it in the Aali folder before recompiling.

-) Try a different name for your new battle folder. I tend to just rename the new folder 'battle' to avoid issues, and then rename the new .lgp file after it's generated.

You should give Luksy's ULGP tool a go though, it's quite handy and automates a lot of the process if you can set it up.

I got it to work. I renamed the file and started from the beginning and it worked i believe it probably the _ mark that wasn't letting it work. thanks for the help.
