I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I tried this troubleshooting section. Please excuse me if I had posted this in the wrong section

I have final fantasy 8 for steam and for some reason the game crashes when I try to enter a new screen. This is before any mods were added into the game. I sometimes was able to get past it but changing the display settings and hz, only to run into the same problem again when I enter another screen.

Somehow miraculously, I was finally able to get past it only to run into another crash after entering the fire cavern and attempting to go to the next screen. Now at this section is where I have a mods for my game. I somehow don't think it could be the mod since this was happening before it, but I'm not quite sure. If anyone could help me here that would be great.
I tried getting some help at another forum and someone kindly suggested I try here.

Edit: *Issue has been solved. I've been working with square enix support on it. Found out it was my program memeo instant back-up that was the problem. Closed the program and now everything works
