I can play FF7 in hardware with my Ti 4600 but I play without FSAA (cause its such a pain to get it to work right anyway).  USB controller?  I think my USB Gravis Gamepad Pro works fine with FF7.  XBOX controller?  Geez... :P

All other games work with it just fine?  My first thought is that there's something wrong with the driver or maybe the driver/controller communication agreement business.

You're not running FF7 in any kind of compatibility mode, are you?  I think I remember reading that that kills support for USB controllers.  I don't even know what OS you are running though, heh.

Text? Pretty bad.  I'd say turn FSAA off or maybe the 1.02 nVidia patch thing will help with that if you're not already using it.

Well if all else fails, and you have the PSX version, it runs well on that :P
Out of interest, what driverset are you using?

Now that you mention it...

Hrm.... I ran FF7 to see if it worked but I guess I didn't notice the ugly text/menus.  Annoying but it doesn't really affect the game that much...

Less ugly.  In battles.

I got this by turning on "Texture Sharpening" in the GeForce4 configuration.  Problem is, though, it really messes up the field backgrounds (mostly with the 16x16 grid).

Have you tried the new WHQL drivers from nVidia? They may help.

man how many times do i have to tell u guys?
go get rivatuner , then turn off FSAA and anistropic filtering (u can get away with lower leveels of filtering), then enable 8bit textures.
or something like that in my old post which i showed shots, but i cant be bothered to dig it out :)

See screen shots :P

Doesn't affect the playablility of the game... just the text.
And you might be able to fix 'em with Rivatuner.

Wtf? My text dosent look like that. UGGGGH. I remember how to fix that. Make sure you've applied the TNT patch in the GeForce way, then get Riva Tuner and make sure 8 bit pattled textures are set to OFF.

and FFVII+XP/2k= no USB controllers. Your X-Box-Pc adaptor should work with any other game that supports a game pad, just not FFVII when useing 2k/XP.
