Mod not downloading/installing correctly
« on: 2016-12-28 06:05:54 »
Parts of the "Gameplay - Difficulty and Story" mod are not downloading or installing correctly.

The main file downloads, but returns the following error message: Error Downloading Gameplay - Difficulty and Story:System.ComponentModel.AsyncCompletedEventArgs.

Patch 0 seems to download fine, but patch 1 stays in the downloader and makes no progress, and patch 2 fails immediately upon starting the download with the error message: Error Downloading Gameplay - Difficulty and Story patch 2.

This is a fresh install of FF7 using the latest version of this mod (2.32). Other mods downloaded fine. I see no other topics about this, so I am unsure if I am the only one with this issue or if there was a problem with the recent update of the file.

Hello! You're not the only one with this issue. unfortunately i'm experiencing the same problem with installing that same mod from 7th heaven. Although I'm using the 1.54 version of 7th heaven and i saw that there was a 1.55 version, not sure if that would improve the mod's ability to install but its food for thought.

I apologize deeply for not having the know how or technical savvy for a true answer. I'm new to this site and hope that someone with more extensive knowledge on a work around and such may notice this post if more than one person is experiencing the same issue.

It seems the tool wants to download the main IRO + the patches all at once, so when it finishes the patches first (because they are smaller), it doesn't have the main file to patch....boom, error. The patch system works great when you've already downloaded the main IRO, but ugh...this is a frustrating feature.

Please stay tuned over the weekend. I'll just add all the changes into the main IRO and update it so that you can download the entire main IRO again without any of the patch downloads.

EDIT: Tested it with a mod that has only 1 patch assigned to it. Works great, but any mods with multiple patches cause this issue. That's not good. How do you only allow 1 patch in the code to be applied at any time? This might mean I have to create multiple patch links for each one, first being a patch from original to current (v2.0 to v2.32), and the second being a patch from former to latter versions (v2.31 to v2.32). But then what about if someone takes a break for a long time and is stuck at v2.1 ~ v2.3. Tell them to uninstall and download again? :|

I've fixed this issue. There are two things at hand that can happen now:

1. 7H will download the latest version without downloading any patches IF the user has not yet downloaded any version of the mod. This will be indicated with a Download button for the mod in the Catalog.

2. 7H will download the necessary patches and apply them IF the user has any version of the mod that needs updating. This will be indicated with an Update button for the mod in the Catalog and Library windows.

These may seem like obvious things, but I had the code all wrong when doing this at first. I guess silly mistakes like this are the result of working endless hours at night to push a release. Sleep > Work, always :P

Yes it works fine now, thank you for your work.

As an aside, I did try downloading many times, and 2 of the patches did seem to succeed a number of times, but the 3rd always failed. Perhaps 2 patches is the limit.
