A request

I would like to gather all patches, mods, soundfonts, etc. for FF7 and FF8 on my site.

I'd just like the new version, I don't need the old ones.

And this is not just some thread I made because I'm lazy, it's because I need ALL of them, even those unknown little ones that only some certain GFX Card users have.

Hmm....sounds as if you're trying to put up a mirror for this stuff....

....Not all of the patches, soundfonts, etc. that exist out there (for FF7 at least), are made by the people here, so you'll still need to ask the permission from creators of the soundfonts/patches that we DIDN'T make, before actually uploading those to your "mirror".

Now, as far as FF8 is concerned, I think that a heavy majority of the patches/soundfonts that are out there, have been made by the FFSF Project, (which I am a member of, by the way), so you won't have too much of a problem tracking the the creators of these patches/soundfonts down, since for the most part the Project's members are members here.  However, while I am a member, I don't believe I have the authority to give you permission to give the ok for everything on the FFSF site, so I suggest you get ahold of the other members as well, especially the guy known around here as "Aaron", as he is the more active webmaster on the FFSF Project site, and may be able to give you the permission you seek.

If you want to link to or host whatever files from the FFSF site, that's fine with me as long as you have permission from the original authors.  That's about all I can do anyway.

P.S. In about 20 minutes, the Orchestral DLS will be back up.

Speaking of which, I'm still kicking around the idea of applying the Revision2 DLS modifications to the Orchestral DLS, since the Orchestral DLS is already 100% compatible with the Improved Tracks patch and can probably benefit just as much from the Rev2 patch as the Original DLS did.
