I'm at the part where weapon awakens and tifa wakes up and talks to barret then he presses a button then my screen goes all black i think there is a movie supposed to be there. i tried everything and nothing worked so can anyone plz help me i think if i copy the movies onto my harddrive and change my registry it should work so can anyone explain to me how to do this and if theres another way besides using the xp patch then plz tell me. oh ya i have 128 mb win xp nvidia tnt2 pro m64 so plz help me thx

There is a registry key... something like "DataPath" do a search for Final Fantasy VII to find it <can't remember myself>.

Make sure the movie itself is not corrupt. Try watching the video in windows, if it doesn't play then you know whats wrong...

ok i know that but in the registry you're supposed to change the data path i dont know what to type in order to run the movies from your computer instead of the cd

the movies do play but they are upside down i need to know how to fix this and what do i type as the registry movie path if i want to run the movies off my computer

nevermind i know the registry but i want to know how do you stop the movies from playing upside down

On Eidos's web site, they have an "Upside-down movie patch."

thx i fixed the upside down movies but when i change to the registry to run the movies off my hard drive in the game all i get is a black screen

If changing the movies so that they run off your hard drive does not work, then don't do it. Change it back, or reinstall the game to restore the old settings.

If you're having problems with a particular movie in the game, try and play it off the CD with Windows Media Player (open up My Computer, go to the CD drive, find the movies folder, and try and find which movie it is). If the movie does not play correctly, you probably have a damaged CD and should contact Eidos about getting a replacement.

[Edit] If you really, really want to run the game with the movies from the hard drive, but are unable to configure the registry correctly, you may want to try a virtual CD drive application like CloneCD's Virtual CloneDrive.

i tried viewing all the movies and they all worked on my media player so why cant i get this game to work

....are you still trying to run the movies off the harddrive?

If you are, I see no mention of you copying the movies to the harddrive. IF you did copy the movies over, and your still getting a black screen for all your in game movies...not just the meteor movie, that your having a problem with. Then you messed up on the path in your regedit file. Also if your playing off a different CD player than you installed the game on, then you'll have black screens, if you don't repath the registory.

I can check later on what name is the meteor movie, but I can't until about 7'oclock central time. If that movie doesn't play in mediaplayer, then you have to move all the movies to your harddrive, and rename/copy a working movie for the broken one. And you should be able to get through that part.
