Hi all,

I am thinking about getting a radeon 9700. I'm wondering if this will work ok with FF7/8 for PC though?

It should and will. FF8 seems to be more compatible with newer cards. FF7 is almost a gamble, but with the 1.02 nvidia patch, it is guaranteed playable. It may help to try different drivers for your video card, too, if you run into any problems.

just curious, why would the nvidia patch work with ati cards.. does it apply to all cards?

The patch is a fix for the lack of 8-bit paletised textures which was present in nVidia cards and is present in all ATi cards
