Question about FF8
« on: 2001-08-18 05:42:00 »
Has anyone heard anything about Laguna being Squall's father? If so, where in the game does it give the hint that he is? I don't remember anything like that! :-?
I'm sure that Raine is his mother b/c Ellone is his sister.

Somewhere on disc three, I believe?  When Laguna, Kiros and Ward are on the Ragnarok with you-after he (laguna) gives his big speech, you leave the room-when you go back, one of them say something about you looking like your mother, the other says something else like that, and Laguna says something like "I guess we got a lot to talk about?"  I can't quite remember, but it is rather vauge.

Yeah that Ragnarok bit with Laguna always confused me, it had me running in and out of the room for ages hoping he'd say more!
About Ellone, I thought the reason they called her sis was called in the orphanage she looked after them, so they all looked up to her and stuff.

This will intrest you....and it will keep me from typing another book. I don't remember if I wrote the connection between Rinoa/Squall/Raine/Ellone/Laguna. I think I did, but maybe it was in another thread. Too bad, Qhimm never put a search engine on this forum.    http://qhimm.3dstream.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000027.html" TARGET=_blank>http://qhimm.3dstream.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000027.html

Here's one on FF7
   http://qhimm.3dstream.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000162.html" TARGET=_blank>http://qhimm.3dstream.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000162.html

Just keep in mind that I was pretty bored when I did them. And when i get real bored, I start plausible, conflicts. Mainly, just to see what the responses are going to be; and to see if I can counter them with believable statements. It keeps my thinking/writing sharp.

and

I never did start that FF8 story....lost intrest in it I guess. (or I was just afraid to write it)

Question about FF8
I should have replied before reading both of those threads.  I had seen them both before, but it's always nice to read such a good discussion again-now my brain is all mushy...

When I first started playing ff8, I hated it.  I compared everything to 7, hated the layout, the characters, junctioning, drawing magic, and thought the story was crap.  Finally, I stopped late in disc one, because I was ruining the game and story for myself.  I dropped back, started over and let the game stand on it's own legs.  And now, it's my favorite (I've played 4, 7, 8 and 9).  The story is just more well, subtle, and you have to pay attention to get the most out of it.  I love 7 to death, but for other reasons.  9, well 9 is just 9.  A nice little story, really-but I never could make the personal connection to it that I did with 7 and 8.  I just couldn't get into it.  I really should find 4 on the web to emulate once again-man, it's been a long time.

I liked 8 alot, and I think what is so differant about it was that it was so serious.  There were hardly any heartwarming little jokes or anything.

If you like playing card games then there is a hint: Play a card game with Laguna after talking to him in disc 3. If you played enough rounds with him, Squall's card will come out!~!. If you noticed, only close people will have that chr's card(Example: Ma Dincht will have Zell's card as they are related.) As Laguna and Squall haven't meet bofore, the only connection is because they are a father-son connection. Get it?

Aha! But why does the pic of Squall show him at his current age? It would have been better if it showed Squall as a little nipper.

It is a very good point Joey but why does Cid have Seifer's card then? Or why does Mayor Dobe's wife have Irvine's card. Just curious on those two.

Ok. I remember in a game letters column square used to run, there was confirmation between Squall, Laguna, and Ulty being related.
The theory is as follows:
Laguna is Squall's father,
Squall and Rinoa are Ulty's parents.
Hence the deal with griever...

Ultimecia.. The Sorceress..

Just kinda spacing off topic.. Final Fantasy Chronicles.. cool deal. You get FFIV and Chrono Trigger.. I am playing Chrono Trigger right now... its a cool game..

I beat Final Fantasy Tactics for the first time a few days ago.. That game is really cool.. but eh.. god it seemed really short.. I played it for like 50 hours.. or so.. and it seemed like i hadnt played it at all.. I got Cloud in my party too... very smooth..  :)

Oh anyway.. havent played FF4 yet cuz i am playing chrono trigger first.. but i will probably beat chrono trigger in like .. hmm... maybe a week or 2 hopefully

Yeah, Tactics is an awesome game . . . the ending is a bit depressing, though.

Chrono Trigger just owns!  It's second best (along with FFVI) only to FFVII. (Just my opinion, of course.)
