Problems with the movies
« on: 2003-10-27 00:01:59 »
I was just wondering why does my comp crashes every time i get to a movie.  For some reason even the movie at the begin of the game doesn't work.  Is there a way to fix this problem or skip the movies all together. Oh, ya, none of the players: Divx, Winamp, windows medai player can run the movie directly from the CD itself.  This never happen to me until i got to cosma canyon, but lucky i got some one to play past that part.  Unfortunaly im at rocket town the place where you meet CID and there a movie.

Do you think you installed something that may have screwed it up? I would suggest installing the duck truemotion package that is available on the eidos support page, or else you can get it from my site. After installing that you will probably be able to view the movies in windows media player, and I'm hoping it'll fix everything for you. In case you're wondering what duck truemotion even is, I have a simple way to explain it. It's the video codec they used for the ff7 movies....and that's all you can really say about it. It's a decent codec, although a little dithered.

By the way, what OS are you running?

Maybe you could tell us what the error message was when you tried to install the duck truemotion package?

We are sorry for the inconvenience."  It also ask if i like to send this error report.  And .......well that all there is.  I hope there is a way to fix this movie problem.

I'll give you an alternate version of the package...not sure if it'll work or even fix it. You can get that here.

Are you on winxp? Got any of the service packs?

Hope your server is back to normal.
Does anyone have the intro of the game at the begining where you start a new game freeze.  For some reason i can't start a new game because of this and i think this might be the same reason why all the other movies aren't working.  The movies use to work when i first installed the game, but as you can see now it mess up and who knows why.

Huh..strange. What do you think happened to cause it to suddenly stop working? Just a simple driver update can change ff7's ability to run in windows xp.

Also, what patches (if any) do you have on your ff7.exe as of now? Do you have...

Version 1.02
Any cetra patches (32-bit, ff7music)
The Chocobo Patch
Any other miscellaneous xp patch

And..did you turn on any of the compatability modes?
