School is starting for me. :(  I am now a freshman at Dowling High School.  I went to orientation yesterday and it sounds really fun, but i'm really scared that I won't be able to do Adv. Geometry.  When do you guys start school?

Dunno, but I REALLY don't wanna find out...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  *Fingernail trail effects left in walls.*

EDIT:
Dunno what Freshman actually means, but I think it might be somewhere near 'scum of the earth'.  It's the first year of high school, second is Sophomore,  third is Junior, fourth is Senior.

Jeez. You lot all go back early. Even when I was still at school I wouldn't be going back for another 2 weeks.

Of course now I'm at uni I don't go back for another month, and even then there's no work or lectures for the first fortnight  :D

England ... same as you!

D'you go to a 6th form college, or an actual 18+ higher ed college? The sixth forms here all go back in around 2 weeks or a bit more ... I didn't think ANY universities started lectures before the middle (usually the end) of September.

Ehm...AFAIK, the country is called 'Great Britain', right?

As for the unis in germany, I don't know anything for sure.
But the school thing: Germany is divided into 16 'states' (United States of Germany  :D ). Every state have their own vacation, but of course, many of them start them at the same time. The state where I live starts its summer vacation very early, Berlin, AFAIK 2 weeks later then NRW (that's where I live). So there are a lot of ppl in germany who still have vacation, but I'm not one of these lucky kids...oh, and I'm not a kid...

Great Britain ... United Kingdom ... England ... I'm a resident of all of them! Haven't got a clue what I'm officially supposed to put down as my country of residence. My nationality is British, but that's not quite the same thing.

'Sides, on the subject of education, Scotland at least has a slightly different system, so it was worth making the point I lived in England rather than somewhere else in the UK.

Technically fice we have only two choices, because, technically speaking(i love that word), we are the United Kingdom Of Great Briton and Northern Ireland which basically means we should either be from England or the UK.
BTW on a recent trip to the US I annoyed the immigration official by writing My nationality As British, my Home country as England and on the other side as from the UK. it is fun being totaly interchangable :)

Actually, my passport lists my nationality as British National, so we do have an official third option if we want it  :D

We have'nt really done much of anything yet.  Basically,  the differance between Advanced classes and normal classes at our school is that they teach us more advenced stuff.  However, in some cases, as in Adv.  Biology,  they only TEST us at a much higher level.  For example, they wont ask us a question that they taught with, they expect us to apply the knowledge in a tougher situation.

Damn. There you all are, someplace or another in Europe, and here I am, on the far west side of the USA... I somehow feel like there's a 12 hour gap inbetween me and the rest of this forum.

As for school, normal HS begins in about a week or two. I'm going to be in my 7th or 8th week of my summer term of school, come Tuesday... And to top it all off, my entire family's out of work, meaning that the 1 class I cut down to will dissapear come the 11th week, less I get a job or one of the project's we are working on really pays off.

Oh well... At the very least, I'm learning Maya, and I've just become a fan of Ranma 1/2. That's quite a funny story! I think I'll go make a panda in Maya now...

SaiNt: I think U's like one of the shittest grades you can get, :S.

Then again, it WAS RE so does it matter?
