The application always crashes upon starting the snowboard mini game. It works if you leave FINAL FANTASY VII and restart it again. Sounds a little bit strange, but that way you're able to pass that scene (worked for me, at the very least).

There's still the possibility to send me the savegame so that I could play the mini game and pass the scene for you. You wouln't miss anything of the story (of course that doesn't fix the problem for future playthroughs).

Game keeps on crashing on Snowboarding minigame

Even after trying the "quarter screen mode" nd the "basic sound acceleration" etc.... the Snowboarding minigame still doesn't run.

Another thing is that I just can't understand why there isn't a Patch as spreaded throughout the net as the "CHOCOBO PATCH". Principally because this seems to be a quite usual problem as well....

And what's wrong with all minigames anyway????

...well, as soon as you know what part of the code is broken...you can release us a patch for it.

It took a long time before the Chocobo patch was released. And was very unexpected when a guy that went by the handle of jedwin figured it out.  That was when the port was still fairly popular...and could be found in retail stores. Not everyone has a problem with the Snowboard minigame, and the game is basicly gone from all retail stores. I seriously doubt you'll ever see a patch, unless you do one, yourself.

If quarter screen didn't work, and setting Direct Acceleration Sound to Basic sound didn't work.... then about the only thing you can do is buy a Playstation.

And....what's wrong with the minigames? They didn't put a FPS cap limit on them, for starters. And the port itself seems to be made without the true understanding of how Windows worked.  The game relys on way, too many 3rd party, applications; which makes the game real sensitive to a computer's software and hardware configuratations. It's just not a well made, port. It's a jury rigged one... Jury rigged for Windows 95, with a Voodoo2 video card running with DirectX 5.1.

Hi!

One thing about de speed of mini-games ( like snowboarding and bike):

If you turn on the V-sync in the driver settings it work , because it will be limited to 60 fps (worked for me).

And about the crashes:

Just turn off the hardware acceleration in that point ( software rendering) and, past this point, turn it on again (this one worked for me too).

I hope it helped. Good luck.
